Ah, I made a megathread on this on another account a while ago.
Day of defeat could have became a strong WW2 FPS but now it lives off community maps (Ugh orange maps) and mods. Dod_strand was a great map
Quickly! To the mapping section! They can possibly cook up some amazing maps for DoD! That is, if anyone in there plays DoD:S.
I remember going on Orange servers and using StereoMIX and saying GO GO GO! using the american's voice commands. The results were: GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO (what sounds like a cicada)GOGO
Day of defeat could have became a strong WW2 FPS but now it lives off community maps (Ugh orange maps) and mods. Dod_strand was a great map
there are a few populated, nearly full always, servers that run stock maps only.
Yeah, they usually run off HLStatsx and are bare on modifications and non-decent maps.
Reinstalling at the moment. Time to kill some Krauts. There needs to be a Facepunch DoDS group if there isn't one already.
i fucking owned with the machine gunner class in DoD

I might just go ahead and create a one specifically for facepunch altogether later today.
509th PIR Marksman before it closed down... Miss the first 509th. Now theirs apparently a new one, just don't feel like going back from Pvt, and learning how to shoot well again.
I still play it... sometimes :unsmith:
DoD:S is freaking awesome, too bad there is like no players playing it. MG's everywhere I mean I run around a corner and there are like 3 MG's spraying my ass and I am dead before I can take cover. Good thing you can flank them :unsmith:

Yeah DoD:S is still pretty active. From my experience a lot of RP servers are pretty open to pubs too.

It could have been a brilliant game had it got the attention it deserved, but so many little things made me loose interest. For example of the top of my head the inability to just drop the MG while deployed and just run away from a grenade with your pistol is just one of my pet hates. That and the fact the CoD games we're actually ubeatable back when DoD:S came out (CoD and united offensive before you jump to conclusions), i think valve looked at the competition and decided it was not worth investing their time and effort, which was and is a shame.
I bought it recently, and I'm beginning to be decent at the game. It's actually pretty fun once you know how to play.
