I've spent quite a while in the coop mode but the competitive is what really makes it unique. You'll have a blast with friends though once you get used to the game.

It's something like a rail shooter but with some degree of control and you can shoot things

Not exactly the same, same perspective, score plates are back, but there are new mechanics (like having to orient yourself in a certain direction to hit some plates, enemies, etc. and it's still only in alpha stage.
Also, from dejobaan's Twitter: The Wonderful update(s) should be a new achievement as well. Plus, it fullscreens on launch, and makes butter out of goat milk!
