The saddest part about going through this thread was realizing how many of these entries will be "noclipping through scenes in Portal 2."
The sad thing is that by the time they reach Marphy they'll probably have lost patience with those sorts of videos and won't even watch the rest of his.
So i got tired of editing the video and decided to make a little teaser poster type thing. Hope you guys like it. And yes that is me.
welp I guess we know who's gonna win now.

Oh my god, I just literally spent 2 and a half days straight editing a video. Rotoscoping is the worst chore imaginable. Anyway the video is finally uploading, I will edit this post with a link when it's done. But for now here is a little preview shot. Also BlueFlash, did you post your entry yet? I don't see it on your channel. [editline]Edited:[/editline] Also fun fact while I'm waiting. We got stopped by the police during the shoot because someone thought we were actually vandalizing the walls with our invisible computer generated paint. [editline]Edited:[/editline] HERE IT IS
Finally finished mine
Woah, really nice. What kind of camera did you use?
Woah, really nice. What kind of camera did you use?
more like, what hooker did you pay? :v:
more like, what hooker did you pay? :v:
Rude.
Finally finished mine
Nice, but some parts seemed to just drag on and on. Just a plain white room with a girl and a TV gets kinda dull.
HERE IT IS
Wow that was amazing. Took me a while to understand what was going on, but neat.
A bit generic, but I like this one
A bit generic, but I like this one
definitely will win [editline]1[/editline] isn't judging today?

We got stopped by the police during the shoot because someone thought we were actually vandalizing the walls with our invisible computer generated paint. [editline]Edited:[/editline] HERE IT IS
I didn't post mine yet. I've been editing for the past several days still. I didn't even get the greenscreen clips from my friend until yesterday and it turns out he didn't know you need even lighting on the cloth to get the effect, so that's been fun to key out. I'm exporting now and uploading after I check through it and make sure it's alright. Yours looks amazing though. I'd be surprised if you didn't win. [editline]15th July 2011[/editline] Mine's done. I hate the beginning but love the ending. I don't know what to make of it...
A bit generic, but I like this one
That's so generic. [editline]15th July 2011[/editline] I was surprised more videos didn't do something like showing the aging of the maps by taking a screenshot in Portal and then showing the same chamber in it's Portal 2 version.
Did you watch past 55 seconds?
That was the joke. Though I admit I could've made the sarcasm more obvious by using italics.
A bit generic, but I like this one
Could have been good if effort was persistent past like 50 seconds.
Wow that was amazing. Took me a while to understand what was going on, but neat.
Thanks! I always appreciate comments. And about the storyline, we kind of wanted to look into the possibility of Rattmann and Chell meeting. Although in the video they do not meet. the scenes where they are walking towards each other represents them coming closer and closer, then then ending is undetermined for the viewer to decide what happened to them [if it wasn't all a psychotic dream that is ;)]

The quality can really make the mix with the in-game scenes look a bit weird, and its just easier to edit with a high def camera.
A bit generic, but I like this one
When I first watched this, I thought, "Wow, this guy has some really nice cinematography here, I think he may-" Then the video reached past 55 seconds. I was amused, but disappointed by the final choice of direction in the video. Then again, this guy seems to like doing that. Here's what he did for the L4D2 video contest:

Looks like the deadline is here, good luck to everyone who entered! [sp]I'd be a shame to see someone win that guitar and sell it, I'd use it every day[/sp]

I only wish that the camera-work was more stabilized, but that also put power towards making the paintings seem believable. I hear your woes on rotoscoping. It's time-consuming enough against an un-keyable background in a studio environment. I'd imagine it to be even more difficult in an uncontrolled environment. Out of curiosity, what'd you use for motion-tracking?

But for some of the hard ones ( like the running in the first painting ) I used a 3d tracker called voodoo. And we did use a rudimentary steadycam that I made, but we kind of wanted slightly shaky footage. Although looking back some of the shots are a bit too shaky.
Here's my entry:
Lego Portal? Awesome.
That was amazing.
That was awesome. The computer section was great. You also used BYCTWD. Great, great work.
I love how the winner was supposed to be announced 2 days ago and they still have not done it. I guess this contest is also in Valve time.
