The problem with boats is that they'd only be useful in a few areas. Cyssor and Extinction are the only places where you could use them except on the outside borders of the island.
Unless the boats could transform into tanks or some shit, then that would be fucking [b]awesome[/b]
I love Planetside. Great game and all. But the only thing I dislike is feeling useless. Whenever I go into combat I get gunned down almost 90% of the time in the first few minutes without even scratching the enemy.
I'd like to feel like my weapons are actually hurting my enemy rather than tickling their shields.

stand behind your comrades and fire when you have a gap.
Also refrain from using plasma nades in refined spaces. It's an easy way to rack up Greif points. (got about 100 in 5 min just from a couple of MAX's derping in there)

I see what you mean, but what I did was just try to find a role to be useful in and get good at it.
Right now I'm "Specializing" in Support flying, Uni-MAX and hopefully BFR's eventually.
I often stand outside of the battle with a Sparrow config shooting down enemy planes, switch to Scattergun when we attack the inside, and go to Falcon / Sparrow when defending.

As soon as you can, get the enhanced targeting implant. Besides from the obvious benefits, it actually gives you a huge morale boost in the sense that "Hey, I'm actually hurting that guy!"

Yeah, Uni-Max (6 certs) or at least the AA max (2 certs) is a VERY easy way to get experience, and your teammates will appreciate not being facefucked by Reavers.

Yeah aside from that it will allow you to be more strategic with your shots, if you see a MAX unit or an enemy with low hp you can plan accordingly.

This is definitely one of those games where you need to put targets down ASAP. Less living enemies means less bullets flying your way, and helps keep their spawn timers high.
Don't you just hate it when the other two factions decide to pick on the base you're in?
Oh my! We had TR BFR's shelling us from one end, VS flails blasting us from the other and every so often one of their commanders would call down an orbital strike.
My god, you could no step outside from more than 30 seconds before being blown to buggery and back!
The funny thing is both the VS and the TR were attacking from opposite sides of the base so they didn't even want to attack one another.
And in spite of all this, nether of them actually got one trooper inside the facility itself, one or two flew over in reavers and laned on the roof only to be gunned down by the innumerable MAX's we had on the base.
Heck i think it's still happening since it started yesterday.

I was on my VS cloaking + expert hacking character, sneaking around in a TR base courtyard that the VS (and some NC tanks and BFRs were shooting at) were attacking. I saw a TR engineer running around in a minefield laying down mines where previous mines detonated. I noticed how there was probably something like 20 mines densely packed where he was running around, so I pull out a jammer grenade, aim at the engineer, and toss it at his face from about 15 meters away. Damn cavern captures are so hard to get (he awards, not the facilities themselves)
Basically unless you have a sizeable force with you, to repel the needed contesting for the capture to be awarded, you're going to end up dead.

Do TR have better amour than everyone else or somthing? One TR blew away 3 of us in a single shotgun blast with one of us in a MAX.

Nah, but it's fully possible that he might have used a medkit or pshield or second wind, or even all three. Even with just a medkit you'll receive 1/4 of your health back, and combined with a bio facility's bonus of 120 health, they can take an absurd amount of effort to kill.
Or they might have been hacking, PS is a fairly easy game to hack and back in 2009 hackers were absolutely rampant.

I've taken direct mid-air flail shots in a Reaver and lived :v:
I hate it how everytime I go AA MAX that all the aircraft seem to disappear and there are hordes of tanks and infantry around me.

I bought the Uni-MAX cert once.
It goes a little something like this.
Take a Rexo with the rocket rifle and shotgun for an assult on a base.
Get shredded by a reaver,
Go MAX AA .
Get fucked over by a guy with a rocket rifle.
Go MAX AI
Tank Shell to the face.
Go MAX AV
Get shredded by reaver.

I usually go with the Terran AV MAX, because it's great at killing tanks, infantry, and idiotic aircraft.
