Running a GTX 460? Put your computer in sleep mode / standby and start it up again. Rebooting fixes this issue as does putting it on standby (which is faster than a complete reboot).

And whats the difference between just AMK and Sidrovich edition?
I believe when Blaberry had his FTP up there was a Blackbyte addition too. Whats the difference between them?
EDIT: Google is just giving me a shitload of Russian versions of AMK with broken download links.
EDIT2: I'm finding a source saying AMK 1.4.1 (is that the newest?) is for 1.0004? Really wish Blaberrys FTP was up right now, all this stuff is kind of a mind fuck.

AMK SE adds some new weapons, i think.
They're the same, Sidorovich Edition just has a couple addons pre-installed and you can't change the settings about mutant HP or anomaly visibility or scope overlays

So I was playing some AMK. Just got rid of the carpark, heading back to base. The two guys are still crouched by the hill being derpy, for some reason they aren't on my minimap either. Oh well. Keep going, and out of a bush I see petruha run forward and fire off his double-barrel into the ground. I thought he was chasing a dog or something because I could hear them running. So I keep following him to investigate. He keeps running diagonally, parallel to the main road. Shooting, reloading, repeat. Just shooting at the ground and shouting. So I think "maybe this is why the [sp] military always attack the rookie base.[/sp]" Keep following him, he's getting awfully close to the commando patrol point. All of a sudden, gunshots ring out from a bush nearby and he gets shot down. I try to pull out my mosin and bam- I get shot straight in the head by a grunt. Such is life in the zone I guess.
Chilling in my garden. Sunny and positive, just the right mood to write terrible shit.

I haven't played stalker before and have only seen a small snippet of game play footage from a friend who has SoC, I'd like to play one of them but alas I have no money, when I eventually acquire one which game should I get?

Or you learn to manage your backpack and shoot at the same time by using the arrow keys to aim, like I do.
How long does it take for my brain to recover in LURK? I had a brawl with a Controller and now I feel all fizzy, but it doesn't seem to heal in any way...

That's a glitch. Navigate to:
stalker shadow of chernobyl\gamedata\config\Creatures
And open "actor.ltx".
Ctrl-F "psy" and change "psy_health_v" to 0.001. Launch the game and let the brain health regenerate.
