is atmosfear 3 any good
yes. [editline]11th July 2011[/editline]
xr engine not crashing yeah thats as likely as jesus manifesting himself into my soup
Odd, the Xray Engine is one of the more stable game engines that I've played games on in a while really :v:
I've rarely crashed in STALKER, actually, unless I have mods installed.
After a short play through, I'm fairly sure that Atmosfear 3 is a must to integrate into any mod out there.
Expression : fatal error Function : CRender::texture_load File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrRender\Texture.cpp Line : 295 Description : <no expression> Arguments : Can't find texture 'ui\stalker3' That's a helpful bit of info, thanks for telling me that tip Teh! What does it mean?
*cough cough*
I just started to play the first one and I really like it but I was wondering if the army guys are good guys because I have just killed lots of them getting that briefcase
There is no "good" or "evil" in the Zone. The army guys are just poor conscripts, sent to face threats using inadequate equipment to fight for corrupt generals who rake all the profits for themselves and sell weaponry for their enemies.
the army is generally corrupt (ie they would do deals with the stalkers but also betray them to bandits) so don't worry about it they want to kill you anyway
The upper brass may be corrupt, yes. The average grunt doesn't get a lot of say in that. And how can you even "betray" the stalkers to bandits since they're already trespassing illegally and under their standing orders should be shot at sight. Every time the military lets a stalker live, they're basically ignoring their orders.
Ugh, PreSky isn't as good as I hoped it would be. Installing TFW again. Gonna go Duty this time.
I can't tell if that guy's joking or doesn't understand that it's Stalker.
P obvious he's joking
Any word on Stalker 2?
Any word on Stalker 2?
Nothing new. Here's their Q&A : Q: What will be the biggest difference between S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and the previous games, if any? A: In brief, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will offer new story, new set characters (with some good old ones) and, of course, the new engine powering it. Q: Will there be more of a survival element to STALKER 2? A:Yes. Q:What features have been removed/compromised in the PC version due to the multiplatform release? A:Since we develop primarily on PC, you won't see any compromises in the PC version. The key difference between the PC and console versions will be the beauty of graphics (meaning PC will offer more of visual effects). Q:Will there be any new kinds of interaction with NPCs? A: How do you mean? It's difficult to answer this one. Q:Will Sidorovich be in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2? A:I will refrain from answering this one for now. Q:Will the faction wars return? A:No. Q:Will the interface (inventory, map, etc) on the pc version suffer (like other games have) by trying to cater for console systems? A: No, whatsoever. Q:Will there be any new mutants? A:Yes. Q:How many weapons will be in Stalker 2? A:It's difficult to give the quantitative figure at this point. Q:Which part of the zone will it take place? Or is it the zone at all? A:We'll be locating the game in the triangle of CNPP, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2 (where the huge antenna is located). Q:Is Zone going to be a large single ? A:Let's postpone this question for now. Q:Will it support DX11? A:Yes. Q:Will we see more X-Labs and secret underground complexes? A:Yes. Q:Will GSC expand on the import-a-weapon feature introduced with Nimble, and allow players access to more varied and custom weapons from outside the Zone by importing them through specialist contacts? A:We have some interesting new ideas on this matter. Q:Will artifacts be something we can go out and transmute through Anomalies? A:No. However, the area of artifact application will expand.
So pretty much the info we have on STALKER 2 is it's going to look pretty and its not going to be consolized, but other than that i can't answer this question at this time.
Also that they're expanding on several different features, like artifact usage.
Artifact activation? Oh yessss pleaseeeeee
STALKER 2 will be on gamebryo engine.
Also that they're expanding on several different features, like artifact usage.
It would be so cash if other Stalkers could use artifacts as well. Like a dude putting a bulletproofness-enhancing artifacts on his belt so when you shoot him, the lower caliber bullets just bounce off altogether. Or being super-resistant to mutant attacks etc. Ooh ooh, and maybe having a "cloak" type artifact that makes you a bit transparent and hard to see.
Artifact activation?Oh yessss pleaseeeeee
They'll have to be careful with that, lest they want it to basically give the player magic powers and turn the game into fucking artifact-fueled wizard duels. [editline]hurp[/editline] Which would be admittedly cool in mods but I'd at least want the core game to retain a serious and semi-realistic atmosphere.
STALKER 2 will be on gamebryo engine.
So now we can have 3rd person viewpoints, but no diagonal walking animations. Great.
Ever since his travels with me, Bear has considered changing his name to Bird. He's got the right idea, I think.
Sidorivich better be back.
And Nimble. It would not be a true STALKER game without Nimble.
And Nimble. It would not be a true STALKER game without Nimble.
He better have a SEVA by now. He's gone through the whole zone in a jacket and jeans.

And then he dies of rad poisoning [editline]12th July 2011[/editline] I would really like another Strelok cameo, possibly a leader of some neutral/friendly military Stalkers
Shit, is there any way I can change my reputation with a faction in SoC using the console? I accidentally shot a Dutyer, quicksaved, and then discovered that it didn't go unnoticed and now Duty and the Loners are hostile to me and I can't get to the Bar.
And Strider, they didn't really build on what he did after he left
He better have a SEVA by now. He's gone through the whole zone in a jacket and jeans.
Well Nimble is badass like that. I killed him in Shadow of Chernobyl, and then he was back in Call of Pripyat, totally unharmed.
And Strider, they didn't really build on what he did after he left
Here's what I predict what's going to happen : He'll start a new faction consisting of ex-monolith fighters. It will probably be one of the "new factions" GSC promised.
Shit, is there any way I can change my reputation with a faction in SoC using the console?
I would really like another Strelok cameo, possibly a leader of some neutral/friendly military Stalkers
I'd like to see Degtaryev again as the commandant of the military units. Though it would have the (un)intended side effect of making me feel guilty every time I shoot a conscript since I know I'm killing Degty's boys
No mods, I'm playing vanilla after finally picking up SoC during the sale.
Well Nimble is badass like that. I killed him in Shadow of Chernobyl, and then he was back in Call of Pripyat, totally unharmed.
True.
I'd like to see Degtaryev again as the commandant of the military units.
Well they were less hostile to Stalkers in CoP, maybe they'll be neutral this
I hope not. I'd welcome them back as an enemy since fighting only zombies in Call of Pripyat vanilla was boring as hell. Especially now since the [sp] Monolith are getting really weak [/sp] and the Mercenaries aren't the kind of enemy that show up in large numbers, the military grunts would be a perfect early-to-midgame hostile-on-sight human enemy force.
Maybe hostile bandits will make a return, after all it was only under Sultan that they were kept on a leash. And of course there can be military dissenters
The problem is that bandits are crap-tier in everything, from weapons to armours. And I seriously doubt that the military would have any splinter groups running around. It's probable that we'll be seeing enemy Spetsnaz and Military Stalker units and little if any grunts since the game will be set near the center of the Zone again. Then again, if stalkers move closer to the center, why couldn't the military do the same?

Does anyone know how to get the stash that looks like it's on the pipe on the PDA in COP? I don't know how to get it for my life
