I think they're just there for scariness and they'll mostly observe,build demonic altars to Cthulhu or attack indirectly(building traps,taking pieces of your wall for their buildings).A jet-black eldritch beast from god knows where wouldn't really fit in with the simply evil monsters that normally prowl about at night.

good think I make my mines 2x1, if one happens to be in it, i can look at it, then place one block on the ceiling. Then, walk backwards while holding right click so it pretty much seals it in.
