Protectors of certain blocks, maybe? You'd have to farm them to get hold of these new block types.
I imagine the scariest part of the game is going to be in a cramped cave/mine when you turn around and accidentally look at one that appeared behind you.
They should take blocks, but only blocks that haven't been placed by a player. That would prevent them from demolishing your shit.

This taking and building shit is far more complex than I doubt Notch would think is worth it.
I'm pretty sure they aren't meant to be horror.
Notch stated himself that Herobine won't be made because he doesn't want people being too scared to play his game.
Such a shame they won't be friendly. I would love a group of them stalking me, picking up random pieces of dirt and sand then walking over to me with their arms out holding that block trying to give it to you. Nothing scary with teleporting or anything. Just picking up some dirt and giving it to you in a friendly manor. Maybe you could make a room for them, and they live in there at night. Kind of like your followers or something? Rather than a weeping angel.
Or maybe they'll just play pass the parcel with a block of dirt. That'd be hilarious to me.

So, I hate playing in anything other than peaceful because of creepers. Im ok with hard mobs that kill me but when you blow up everything I have built, I get angry and that makes the game not fun. I cant play multiplayer because all my friends want mobs on and lag+creepers=Nohj never has more than a shack with a hole inside of it for a mine AND he isnt having fun.
Point is, if they move my shit, I will NEVER play on anything other than peaceful again.
If they are in peaceful, fuck it, Im done.

Minecraft is by far one of the scarier games for me. It's just the fact that everything is randomly generated in the world (vanilla of course blah blah). Digging a hole? There's a cave right under you and you have no torches. Good luck seeing the sun again. Want to sleep? Oh, a skeleton is going to enter your home and rape you. Opening your door in the morning? Hope there are no creepers around. You know that long hillway you just dug? There's an endermen at the other end now.

even one time, i was about to break my pick and i fell though into this bicth as deep tunnel
luckily i had a bucket ' o ' lava, so i throwed my stuff in a corner and killed myself with lava then walked back to collect it again
