And why bother? Unless its blatant racism or some idiot 12 year old ranting on, it shouldn't really be offensive to someone who plays a war-based game
And why bother? Unless its blatant racism or some idiot 12 year old ranting on, it shouldn't really be offensive to someone who plays a war-based game
The 29th has to be "kid" friendly. :frog:
The 29'th is the biggest cess-pool server I've ever seen. They PMS and ban anyone at random times, the server has to be run by autistic children who spend too much time on DA.
I used to be part of the 29th when it was still in Day of Defeat. I spent two years with the unit, ranked up to Sergeant, lead my own squad and befriended many good people of all ages and nationalities. I was still with them when they first moved into Darkest Hour too. It's a damn fine unit and they are by far the BEST out there (at least when it comes to DoD Realism, I'm not familiar with too many RO realism units tbh but the 29th still matches up to the top dogs in that case, regardless...)
The 29th has to be "kid" friendly. :frog:
There is really no need to swear in general. You don't need to express your frustrations by shouting "FUCK" over the mic or typing it out. It's unnecessary. You should be capable of expressing yourself without resorting to swearing like a fool. Every mistake is always accounted for and 98.9999% of the time, those that dispute the bans are always shown enough evidence to make them eat their words and knee-jerk reactions. The 29th is justified and is fair enought to admit their mistakes and this has been proven countless times. The 29th has always spearheaded the Realism community with unmatched professionalism and accomplishment, being a very fair and balanced community as a whole and welcoming virtually anyone from all corners of the globe. Hell, they went out of their way to even create a specific Company AND server dedicated to the European players. The evidence for the 29th's achievements? One of the most popular servers in Darkest Hour. Funny too because it only recently shifted into Darkest Hour about a year or two ago and right from the get-go it became popular and the more "experienced" RO and DA realism units were amazed by their performance. Of course, there's always that competetive nature in the air amongst those "veteran" realism units so they have tendencies to snobbishly criticise the 29th's success and how the unit is run.
:frog: don't ban me for emote reply, mods
if you're too immature and foolish to handle a swear word then get the fuck off the internet, and especially don't play video games made for mature people where people's arms are being blown off and they're yelling swear words through comms every 29th member comes off as a complete tool, you guys are just as bad as the EGO clan the 29th server is only popular because it's literally the only American DH server, the only other popular ones are a german tank server and 2 or 3 british servers, get over yourself
Some guy from the 29th wanted me to get banned after I accidentally killed him and I even said sorry. :v:
The greasegun in darkest hour can be hilarious on inner city maps. Was playing with it earlier and ended up getting like fifty kills in one match while defending.

In a war time based video game dealing with realism especially, having a no swear policy seems a little out of place even you have to admit.
i hate to say it jimmy boy but they're right. 29th server is the biggest pile of shit in the history of uptight servers. i'm glad they keep the idiots out but the server gets very elitist and anybody who isn't really known at all can be banned for the most simple of reasons whereas long-time users who have been repeat offenders get off way easier. it's like me on facepunch. eventually the mods just give up trying to ban me! i've came back too many times on too many accounts to make it worth their while and now i'm the best poster to ever live that aside the tldr is this: 29th server is full of dickheads and as stated the only reason it's popular is because it's the only real choice. kid-friendly is dumb because the kids swear more than the adults do. the only rule that should be enforced is no harassment whatsoever but oh wait 29th members do it all of the time by banning newbies for remedial things also rest of the thread lay off jim_riley he only means good intentions. it's not his fault the 29th are bads [editline]29th April 2011[/editline]
Like most things there's a time and a place, while having swear words make up 50% or more of your standard vocabulary definitely makes you sound stupid, censoring swear words all together makes you seem childish and uptight, and that's unavoidable. no-swear rules are hardly enforced though (29th hardly bans for swearing i mean come on) until you go on EGO servers where the entire server consists of 11 year olds who were given administrative rights (who does this?)
I must have had a lucky experience with the 29th. They're pretty nice to me, and I don't really swear when playing anyway, except one time they were kicking us out for drills, I was like 'FUCK THE POLICE' and started shooting the spawn, and one admin or something said "Yes, fuck the police ,I agree, but leave please" (in a joking way, he wasn't trying to be dopeman thuggyson) but sounds pretty bad anyway I do play there often though because it's the only populated server I can find with reliable ping- and people teamwork there sometimes. The only other server with playable latency is some 24/7 tank server and I suck at that so whoop de duerer
I haven't affiliated myself with the 29th for over two years now. That time is done and over with and I don't have DH anymore either (decided to play E:TW to death instead) but I can't help that the good experiences I've had from the unit and the faith I seemingly still possess in it seems to disagree with the general public! Maybe things are different now since it's so much bigger and most of those that used to be CO's when I was playing are now "retired" and gone (Except for the Major. He'll probably never leave, heh). I would rather not try to argue anything further (there are a few technicalities I'd like to throw out regarding the banning process and whatnot) because it's obvious it'll accomplish nothing. But let it be said that I had nothing but good times with the 29th and I respectfully disagree with you JerryK. Now I'm curious to go into the server with a different screen name and see what happens...this should be interesting.
Well its the same for me like EGO. I played there years ago on Day of Defeat and it was fine because people teamworked, and though the rules were kind of strict the admins were never dicks (where I played) now EGO is everywhere, they have too many assholes for admins, and its just turned to shit

He actually went to your website, and none of the administrators had any "evidence" he did anything. In fact nobody even knew why he was banned. It's quite probable that one of the lackluster admins banned him because he was just kicking the crap out of the 29th players. What a joke.

people still play RnL?
who knows. the updates kind of killed off the community. updates tend to do that with mods and that's why they should be for the most part bug free on initial release. populated or not; that doesn't stop it from being good

Nobody has ever banned anyone just cause they dislike them or decided to rage ban because they're mad (afaik nowadays). Getting admin is a privledge, not a right and the 29th still hold true to that respect. Your emphasis on the two days makes me think that YOU think that's two days too long. Sorry, but admins do have other matters to attend to outside of the 29th aswell. Honestly, I think there's a massive amount of exaggeration going on here. Probably due to the comparison of the 29th to EGO servers which is far more infamous than anything the 29th does. I've never heard of anyone being banned just for swearing. It's not like you say "fuck" and it's an instant ban. Never seen that before. Not to mention, never seen an indiscriminate ban without a warning of some sort to follow. Most of the time (especially regarding this swearing issue) it's a warning or two, or three or four. I mean, honestly, there's a fair amount of paper work involved in the ban process (from the 29th perspective) that it's much easier to hope that the player is compliant with simple rules and warnings.
i was playing on some random Russian or something server the other day and a 29th member was on there telling some guy to stop swearing, everyone basically laughed at him and told him to go back to the 29th server :v:
Playing DH on a 29th server I had an amazing round as a sherman's gunner, earned countless kills, then got blown up by a sneaky anti-tank soldier while driving through a graveyard. After respawning, the driver spawnkills me twice, I whack him once in the arm with my gun and then I get banned for teamkilling. He didn't even die. :(

your direct links are killing their bandwith, you are very rude
Yeah whatever. It's their crappy server, they can run it how they want to and if that happens to be where most people play then there's really no other option. I can rest assured that there won't be any monopolizing realism units polluting the RO:HOS server roster, so thats definitely one of the many things to look forward to. I just hope that rising storm and in country will have some good servers and decent player numbers.
Sorry, but admins do have other matters to attend to outside of the 29th aswell.
I mean it's not like every single 29ther I see sits on their fat ass next to their computer for five hours at a time right?
I got permanently banned for guessing the password to their server when it was passworded. I don't think '29th' is a good password.
Anyone want to play DH? I'm installing it now. ~7min [editline]30th April 2011[/editline] We should troll the 29th server
Whenever I see a member of the 29th on that server play on the germans its funny how awful they are with the bolt action rifles. [editline]30th April 2011[/editline] I find it funny how two good German riflemen can hold back a bunch of charging Americans on that server.
