I'd play DH more if the maps were more like arad than chernarus [editline]5th June 2011[/editline] in size
yeah you better fucking add that in SIZE, arad is the worst map i've played
Have they released a release date?
yeah you better fucking add that in SIZE, arad is the worst map i've played
nah I'd say goddamn lutremange or that one 29th village map with brits and germans where tanks don't come in until like halfway throughout the game and it's a hugeass map too
The funny thing about DH is that most American riflemen can't aim for shit due to having the semi and not having to deal with bolt cycling.
For some reason, this thread disappeared off of the stuff I was tracking. I knew I was missing something.. any new news on the public beta?
Have they released a release date?
Tripwire has a firm release date planned but they haven't announced anything yet.
For some reason, this thread disappeared off of the stuff I was tracking.
Have they released a release date?
I still stand by my guess of early September.
Too bad it wasn't this spring/this month I was going to play the shit out of it this summer
New Post from Alan:
So sorry I dared to take time off last Saturday So, what news do we have for you this week? Well, the Russian VO has now been recorded (in Russia, for anyone whining that they don't sound like real Russians). Got it back on Thursday, should be in game next week. German VO should be with us in a few days as well. There is an awful lot of it! We were finalizing the bullet penetration stuff last few days as well. Coders have their work cut out a little on this one. Consider that, with tank main gun rounds, you haven't got more than 5-10 in the air in any given second. With a server with 50+ people on it, using PPShs, DP28s and MG34s, you've potentially got about a LOT more than that - so a LOT of penetration calcs going on. Happily it isn't my problem to optimize that lot (except in the design, obviously). But don't think hiding behind that over-turned desk is going to do you any good when I'm using the MG34 - and anti-tank rifles will live up to their more modern designation of "anti-material rifles"! With E3 finished, we'll let the press recover from their EA/Activision/Ubisoft/Sony/MS-fueled mayhem - and then we'll start pushing out a series of announcements and general fun and games over the next couple of weeks. There are a series of press events coming up - one at home base next week (secret squirrel - not telling you about that one yet), plus events set up by 1C in Prague (18 June, if I remember it right) and San Fran (7 July), so there should be more press coming from those. Competitive gamers: with the recent "announcements" from the MW/CoD camps, we've had a sudden rush of comp gamers shouting "save us!" Fortunately, of course, we have a ton of features in place already (as the faithful know) to aid comp gaming around RO. So, if you are/know any more comp gamers who are getting pissed at the news around the soon-to-be-completely-console-oriented games - bring them over here! For light amusement - we are just in process of opening a new office, to be known as "Tripwire South". Actually, it is only about 5 meters south, but we need the space. Also been doing some more interviews, so look for those appearing over the next couple of weeks as well. Have a good weekend!

yeah you better fucking add that in SIZE, arad is the worst map i've played
Why does everyone hate Arad so much? I'm not sure if it's because I play the Real Forests version, but every match I've had on Arad has been insanely fun.
Since BF3 now has full body awareness I hope the devs take note of this and add it into RO2, it would make sense considering RO is the one that's made for immersion and realism. I also hope they keep the shooting off hates and helmets in RO2, it's a small feature but hell it's hilarious when you just see a bit of someones head and their hat sticking out, fire, hit the guy in the head, then his hate flies upwards from his head and looks like it spins in the air. Just another amazing RO moment.
as long as it's not men of war HURR I SHOOT MG AT SQUAD, ALL HELMETS FLY OFF SIMULTANEOUSLY
as long as it's not men of war HURR I SHOOT MG AT SQUAD, ALL HELMETS FLY OFF SIMULTANEOUSLY
Well it only really happened if the bullet went through the hat and hit the head, it happened a lot more also if you hit the guy in the head like that while he was sprinting. So it doesn't happen often which is good so it's still enjoyable when it happens occasionally.
as long as it's not men of war HURR I SHOOT MG AT SQUAD, ALL HELMETS FLY OFF SIMULTANEOUSLY
Hahaha, oh god yeah... half of the time on that game was picking up helmets.
Wait, BF3 has the look feature like ARMA?
He means being able to see your legs when you look down/climb over things.
He means being able to see your legs when you look down/climb over things.
Yep, I'm actually suprised they took the time to make legs for BF3 when it's not really focused on realism or immersion and probably most of their fan base doesn't really care. When we have RO here that is based around those things and doesn't have this feature, I'm going to bump a thread on their forums with this and try to get a dev response and see what happens and post back here.

They're not only doing US a favor but the entire industry.
I gotta respect DICE for pushing the industry as a whole when it comes to the FPS genre. They're not only doing US a favor but the entire industry.
Yep, it's actually surprising they put the feature in the game, I hope more developers follow though as the only 2 current games atm that have it are BF3 and DNF. Also I got a response from someone saying:
I'm not sure, but I believe you can. From one of the last gameplay videos, (the one where he uses the mounted MG34) when he ducked behind cover he glitched his own body a bit, so I believe you'll be able to see it.
So there might be a possibility, I'm going to remain optimistic about it but maybe I'll try sending Alan a pm and see if he will respond.
so BF3 has working bipods and a suppression system wonder if they were inspired by anyone..
so BF3 has working bipods and a suppression system wonder if they were inspired by anyone..
Heh, I was thinking about that my self, In single player you can also see a bit of the inside of the tank.... Also if anyone was wondering about my quest to find an answer regarding feet, I remembered that TWB clan was invited to play RO2, so I went to their server and asked and they said: "you can't touch your own toes, but you might be able to see your feet" So it looks like we will be able to see our feet, pretty awesome.
For any of you guys looking to play competitively here is some good news. See you tonight! nKM, http://www.rush-zone.com http://www.cadred.org
If you are looking to play competitively I suggest you join in as it looks like you will also be able to ask them questions and ask about specific features or maybe even request certain features as they are developing the competitive side solely from what the competitive community wants and most of the features that are confirmed were wanted by the community. So if you are wondering about a specific feature or want to request one it would be highly recommended to join in on this. Also I have found these 2 images on the forums and even tough appearantly they are not new, I haven't seen them before so incase you haven't either here you go. I like those screenshots because it still looks GREAT without being raped with maxed settings and then processed in photoshop like most press release items are.
FUCK, I'm going to be at work.
I'm looking forward to more Red Orchestra, but am somewhat concerned by the implication of some of the changes that it's going to be more game-y and less of a simulation.
I'm looking forward to more Red Orchestra, but am somewhat concerned by the implication of some of the changes that it's going to be more game-y and less of a simulation.
Like what?
Like what?
Well. Less walking.
Well. Less walking.
your argument is clearly superior, i subject myself to this superpower
