Ausgust or September, but there is going to be a large closed beta happening soon (around 20,000 keys)
Also the Community Manager (Yoshiro) has posted on the forums on Punkbuster and the 4 different stages of it that you can put on your sever.
What the hell?
Are they seriously telling us now that PB will kick for the Overlay?

punkbuster has always done shit like that, and the different levels of punkbuster means you can avoid that.
that's stupid. It is a Steamworks game and you are kicking for Steam overlay .really!
that's stupid. It is a Steamworks game and you are kicking for Steam overlay .really!
That's at level 3, and it's a punkbuster issue.
Read the article.
As long as servers stick to the "standard" PB protection no problem.
As long as servers stick to the "standard" PB protection no problem.
I hope they figure out a way to make it work with the steam overlay, or at least be able to figure out on the server browser the stage of protection that server has with PB so I don't have to fear getting banned from that server because I have steam overlay on.
I'm at the beach all week, hope the closed beta doesn't suddenly start while I'm here.

I would hope so, but I think after Friends and Family beta (which they are in now) is for Clans, I'm not 100% sure though
Sure hope it comes out in August because my college starts in September.

Yes finally, but come on I will only have 1 week to play, w/e I hope I get a closed beta key then. Also for only freaken $40, that is fucken amazing, for $40 you get an amazing game while others have to go and pay $60 for the next re polished CoD.
They said they are looking into a collectors edition so I'm 100% sure now I'm going to try to get a collectors edition that will probably be amazing, considering they deserve the money, this is funny too considering everyone would of been happy enough to give these guys $50 and they knew that.
They said that for RO they made all the money back that it took to make the game in Pre orders alone, I have no doubt they will be able to do that again.

At 2.50 you can see that 'last stand' mode.
It's funny how we see threads almost every week about the way the game industry is right now with all this gimmick DLC to get extra money out of users and providing almost basically no post game support, yet RO2 isn't really that well known considering now for $40.
Your getting a game with tons of community input, SDK on release plus over 10 mods, free DLC and paid DLC which is just cosmetic items that do not affect gameplay at all, attention to every detail, fully interiored tanks that take 3 months just to make 1. Even making sure there are no Cheaters with 2 anti cheat systems and a dedicated team to get everything VAC and PB doesn't catch, competitive clan support. Your getting 500x the content of a AAA game at the price of $40 it is really suprising RO2 is not as popular as it is.
People spread the word of the game, remember also that the closed beta will be coming out soon.
i like how when he goes into that building it's really dark at first so you can't even see anything but then after a few seconds his eyes adjust
Fuck, August 30th is like the worst day to start. My schooling starts a day after that.

They have mentioned that you can search for servers with your preferred security. So it shouldn't be a problem.

Thank god, I would hate to join a server then a second later "you have been kicked by punkbuster for using the steam overlay your dirty hacker"
I'm pretty sure though they are still trying to figure out a way to make it work with the steam overlay on stage 4, though if they don't, at least we still have 4 stages to choose from to make that not happen.

500x the content? Don't exaggerate because that's just a ridiculously stupid statement :v:
i barely even use the steam overlay anyway

I was purposely exaggerating to prove my point of how much content there is :smug:
If you compare with the regional pricing on Killing Floor, The Ball and Dwarfs!? the prices for RO2 should be:
39.99 USD
35.99 EUR
30.99 GBP

I'm not really familiar with the whole Europe guys complaining about how the European prices on steam are the same as the US price making theirs more expansive, so do those prices (based on your assumption) give Europe guys the proper price of what it should be?
Also the official news from tripwire about the anti cheats (basically everything that has been posted just summed up)
For those not already aware, we are also very excited to announce the selection of PunkBuster™ Anti-Cheat software and PBBans streaming ban support for the game, in addition to using Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC). "With the selection of PunkBuster and PBBans in addition to VAC we're taking a three pronged approach to cheat protection for Red Orchestra 2," said John Gibson, Tripwire Interactive President. "We hope this sends a strong message to gamers that we take cheating very seriously and are tackling it head on BEFORE the game ships."
Here's hoping that the majority of servers disable PB and just use VAC.
Fucking PB will probably just kick for VAC.
fuck you VAC this is my gig, get out
and that's why PB never had any friends

EUR 1 = USD 1.4815
(28 april 2011)
So if the games costs 40 USD, but also 40 euro, we are actually paying 59.26 USD for the game, when converting 1 to 1.4815.
Though you get a bit less when exchanging euro to USD at the bank or something. But then it would be around 55 USD or something.. And the difference between 40 USD en 55 USD is big enough to make a fuss about.
Long story short, the game shouldn't cost more than 30 euro when it's priced 39.99 USD, though we all know how that's going to turn out...
