This was just posted on the Tripwire forums and I recommend everyone watching this, it is apparently footage from WW2 from a German camera man, so you will be seeing from the German perspective/side. It is absolutely stunning and warning: there are dead bodies in the video.
Fantastic.
Thanks for sharing this, I like it a lot. That clip at 2:11 to 2:16 (German Soldier smoking) is intense. Pretty creepy.
Also that guy from 4:13 to 4:16, those scars at his mouth... and that intense cold-blooded face he makes. Holy shit:eek:.
Wow... The ending of that video made me have this weird feeling. From all the games you become desensitized to WW2 but you have to remember, it all happened.

But the way WW2 has been treated is horrible, this is basically how WW2 is today "Nazis were evil, all germans were Nazis (also relating to that, there was a pretty shitty article about RO2 from a gaming website where the author goes, "hurr I wonder if playing as the Germans in the campaign the Germans will realize they are evil and give up" seriously what kind of bull crap is that), Hitler was evil. Then you have in schools where it's "here is a couple of American battles, one Canadian battle and a British battle" and you learn it in a couple of days and that's it. It's disgusting how the biggest war with the most casualties ever in history is not even cared by people today. I bet if you showed this video to someone they would probably go, "oh they are all just Nazis I don't care" But relating to the game itself, the ending where (I assume) the Russian soldier surrenders and the footage of the Germans running around those ruins in the same area with dead bodies around, the halftrack getting blown up with the Germans on fire running out and the scene with the dead soldier with his arm stuck in the wheels. Just reminds me of how RO2 is going to be and how RO2 is going to be immersive as hell and a game going to be closest to the real thing as we are going to get at the moment.

Yeah, WW2 was treated like just another theme in video games, but it is a hell of a lot more than that. The arcade type WW2 games like Medal of Honor are fun and all, but it's just a game with a theme slapped on it. Brothers in Arms is pretty good though because it's based on a true story, and each and every level is nicely made. Another nice thing was that it was strategy based, you had to tell your men where to go and what to do to suppress the enemy so you can flank them, instead of running up to the enemy and shooting them. It's a shame that the new BiA is some dumb experimental game. I've honestly never played RO but I'm really looking forward to RO2. I would really enjoy a revival in WW2 video games, but made properly. There are so many true stories out there to base a WW2 game on, and the men who actually fought in WW2 are dying off quickly, so it's best to take the opportunity while it lasts. Some developers could even get a true story from the German side, and change people's feelings towards the Germans in WW2. What I like about Medal of Honor: Rising Sun is that it has a good amount of real footage, as well as WW2 veterans telling their experiences on video.
According to people like that, my grandpa was a "Nazi".
And according to people like that, my Great Uncle was a "Nazi". My Great Uncle died in the Philipines. The POW ship he was on got torpedoed because the Japanese didn't mark their POW ships. [editline]29th June 2011[/editline]
Some developers could even get a true story from the German side, and change people's feelings towards the Germans in WW2.
Like that story I heard about a German POW almost getting shot because a Paratrooper thought the German was laughing at him. Turned out the German's eyelids and lips had been frozen off in Russia.
I think what's even more horrible is that most of us still believe in the "German" history of the Eastern Front, that is where the Soviets are all faceless automations who only win because they have enough men to pile in front of German guns to overwhelm them with and the Germans are all portrayed in the best light as tactical geniuses. One example would be Panzer Battles by Friedrich von Mellenthin.

Some of the most awe inspiring yet gutwrenching ww2 footage Ive ever seen. That cold dead stare of the soldier at 6:54 is just burned into my mind. Very sad that 99% of people dont know nor give shit all about this war. More sad, that video only has 18,000 views.
awesome words.
Well if you are looking for a quick amazing different WW2 game then I would get RO 1 since it is only $10 and plenty of people still play actively and $10 for 2 months of amazing gameplay is worth it, I had a round with peterson before on a server, was tons of fun, he kept trolling the server about CoD Mechanics.
Err, that's a German soldier surrendering to a bunch of Russians, and those were also Russians rushing up the ruins with a bunch of dead Germans in them
Your right my mistake, should of known that, I just automatically thought it was a German since it's supposed to be a German camera man filming.
Saw this on the TW forums. Some of the most awe inspiring yet gutwrenching ww2 footage Ive ever seen. Barely anyone now knows how much work was put in by everyone, how harsh or brutal the war was, the conditions, the soldiers (the category for them right now is, good guys and bad guys) I think everyone should watch this footage. If there was ever a WW3 in my lifetime I wouldn't be surprised at all. Well relating to the game the IC event in Prauge was yesterday and here is a quote from someone from the rising storm team playing it "Testing MGs on a well populated server is something that really gives you a sense of power : when u own a mg, u own the world well if a rifle didnt spot u to early at least (firepower, awesome animations, reloading is so great that i was reloading every ten bullets just for the pleasure" And then Alans response: "We'll ignore the fact that you nailed me with the MG, while I was attempting to set a flank defense about 3 times in a row. And I believe there was some video recording going on in Prague (we were asked to keeping the in-game chat down for a while), but I can't confirm that until our guys get home and sober up enough to communicate in English again." So it looks like the MG will feel powerful and the animations, like RO 1, will be freaken amazing to handle and see. Also looks like it will focus way more on teamwork. It looks like we may get some more footage (footage of Alan getting nailed with a MG I hope) but probably not HD just another cam (difference from this cam and the ones we have now are that this will be on a full 64 player server with humans no bots like the others, so we get to actually see the mechanics in use), but either expect this week or next week for an onslaught of articles about RO2 at the event, and I think In Country:Vietnam and Rising Storm were there as well.

I am not a religious man but pray with me for the opportunity to pre-order RO2 during this Summer Sale. PRAY DAMN YOU! :argh:
Rising storm looks grrrreat
Rising storm looks grrrreat
I like how it doesn't have that grimy filter that RO seems to have.
Oh lord, here is the mkb 42 close up, notice the scope and the bayonet :v:
Dont know about you guys, but I sure as hell wouldn't ever surrender to a Russian. The shit they did was worse than what the SS did in places.

So now the CoDfags can't complain that weapons don't have attachments. :v:
We can only hope CoDfags don't play this at all.
So now the CoDfags can't complain that weapons don't have attachments. :v:
I can't wait to see some of them get killed in one shot and complain, or try to charge at someone with their bayonet and get cut down from MG fire, or I would like to see them get shred apart with this monster.
We were tactic00l before anyone else :c00lbert:
Indeed you were. How can there already be a mod in the works for a game that isn't out?
How can there already be a mod in the works for a game that isn't out?
the devs released the mod tools early on to some officially supported mods
o man o man I hope the Type 95 is portrayed realistically. Cant wait to shred the occupants with 30 cal fire :v:
How can there already be a mod in the works for a game that isn't out?
There are actually several in the works, and that Pacific mod is just one of them. The devs have given the tools early to some teams to get a head start and to help them out a bit. Rising Storm (the pacific mod) if officially supported by Tripwire though meaning that if it's really good they will release it as a expansion pack and sell it or polish it up a bit then sell it. This is just Tripwire caring about there community and fan base as most of the guys in the Rising Storm team are some of modders of the original game who made something that was really good and popular.
