I just hope that servers disable the crosshair.
Don't worry, every single realism-clan that's moving from RO to RO2 that will host a server will probably disable crosshair and do whatever to keep the game as realistic as possible, and there will probably be alot of old and dead realism clans reappearing or leaders that create new ones hoping for a rebirth with RO2.
I'm really excited about the upcoming realism unit scene in RO2!

Speaking of realism, look at this new exclusive RO2 screenshot Tripwire released:

An experimental suit that was pioneered in late 1941, saw combat two times in Stalingrad.
i don't really get the joke
You just didn't find it funny because there is really no problem with the realism in the game :v:
It would be nice to be able to gradually open your tank hatch.
That would be awsome. The main reason I looked out the gunners hatch was when the driver was spazzing the fuck out and wouldn't let me get my bearings. But there would ALWAYS be someone that was stalking the tank with a pistol out that would blow my brains out the second I opened the hatch.
I think it would be pretty cool to have a level where you play as the Soviets and breach one of those experimental labs that Axis had everywhere.
It'd be realistic since we are talking about the REAL experimental weapons labs.
Well, the game takes place in Stalingrad and I'm quite sure the germans did not have any labs in russia at all.
[editline]1st July 2011[/editline]
Would be interesting for a nice psychological horror game. A good one, not a generic "The germans create a super weapon/zombie/power or whatever" thingy.
It could be a bonus level for all we know, they wouldn't go through all that trouble modeling and animating the experimental weapons to not use them at all.
Did Tripwire not confirm a full singleplayer campaign? Not just bot fights but an actual story and whatnot? Having both sides of the combat as well.
They haven't shown one bit of that.
Maybe I just dreamed that up.
Yeah, it will have full co-op support apparently.
I just hope that servers disable the crosshair.
How would a crosshair even work in Red Orchestra.

That reminds me of the one mission from Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.
The one were the Germans are working on a prototype radar detector and you have to destroy it, steal all paperwork concerning it, and kill the scientists working on it.

That sounds nice, provided they don't go "lol you're a special forces guy behind enemy lines etc. etc.".

The crosshair would point towards where your gun is pointing? How else would it work?
How would a crosshair even work in Red Orchestra.
Bit like ArmA I imagine.

isn't Cryostasis like that?
never played the game but i think it is

Obviously like world of tanks where there's a huge circle and there's a 10% chance your shot will actually land in the circle
And then you shoot them in the face and the bullet bounces off.

Not a dream, there is actually going to be a full singleplayer campaign, one for the Russians and one for the Germans, which if I'm correct is the first FPS to have a German singleplayer for WWII. (Notice I said WWII, so don't say that horror game sequel where you play as a German in WWI and fight mutants and demons.)
Also about the crosshair discussion, it is not 100% confirmed yet if there is a crosshair or not, they said that IF they implement one, it will be like ARMAs crosshair.

Did you just call him kid?
Did you just call him kid?
Kid is used in a general range of youth. The person looks like a teen.

From what I've heard though, when in a life threatening situation your adrenaline rushes and it rapes your fine motor skills by up to 50%. The rate of fire for bolts is fine as is.
isn't Cryostasis like that?

Err, not really, at all actually, it's really fucked up but not in that way. You're on some frozen russian boat and in the end you get to fight roman gods or something :v:
How did... what... the fu-
You seem to have misread my post. I was making fun of the people saying it was "incorrect" for the guy to have the mask, and saying that it did infact make sense that he would have made something to keep himself warm. Sooo... what?
Oh, sorry :v:
New post by Alan, talking about the recently released screenshots, making fun of Respawn Entertainment because they are calling themselves a Independent Studio and how hard they are going to be working to finish RO2.
For those of you NOT old enough to know - "That Was The Week That Was". It was a TV show somewhere back in the last century. And pure coincidence that it might be "TripWire"!
I guess you've all seen a little insight into the life and workings of a small independent studio this week! With the prep for 1C's Prague'n'Play (getting a multi-player build ready), the Killing Floor Summer Sideshow Event, prepping for next week's 1C event in San Fran (where the press should be getting their hands on the single player) - plus a couple of other pieces (marketing/advertizing-related) - it has been quite a week.
The coders probably did sleep at some point, but not much. The testers were burning the midnight oil along with them. Animators are grinding out the hours - and the rest of the art team isn't far behind. Makes me feel a little helpless at those moments when tech skills are stretched to breaking point.
But the general reception on the screenshots released at Prague was really good. And we do love you all really - just remember that we aren't EA/Acti/Ubi/Blah with vast teams cranking everything ut. And that screenshots are often made to appeal to those who DON'T know our games! We love you all really. Well, most of you. Most of the time. Really! It is one of the challenges as we grow - and grow the fanbase. Some people have been fans of ours for years and will be very vocal about what they see. We'd much rather people took part, took an interest. Just remember that we are the small, independent developer, trying to do a huge number of things...
[Totally separate topic for rant: the shiny new Respawn website describes the company as an "independent video game development studio". Um... "independent"? I was rather under the impression that they were completely funded by EA - rather like IW was completely funded by Activision (to the point where Acti owned a chunk of the company, with options on the rest, which they later exercised, making some people even richer). So how is that "independent"? Please correct me if I'm wrong of course!]
Then we hit a bizarre set of tech issues with the release of the summer event, which we've done before and never seen the issues on. Which, understandably, upset a bunch of people. It upset us, too. I think we've got all the gremlins cracked... famous last words!
In amongst all that, we've been running beta tests. People seem to be enjoying the game. Everyone in the office is busting their nuts to get everything finished.
Its going to be a busy summer!
Hopefully we'll be able to preorder soon.
I just hope that servers disable the crosshair.
You mean the nonexistent crosshair?
They said in a interview that the crosshair would only be in noob-mode servers.
They said in a interview that the crosshair would only be in noob-mode servers.
There isn't a cross hair is what I'm saying. At least not that I've heard of.
There isn't a cross hair is what I'm saying. At least not that I've heard of.
Right now there is no crossahair, they said that IF they make it, it will be like Armas crosshair, but right there is no crosshair at the moment.
But good to know if they make one it will only be on Relaxed-Realism.
