Because Arad is a great map if you have people who aren't retarded playing on it. Some of my most memorable battles were on that map. Then again, I love tanks.
Tanking in ROOST (and darkest hour, with it's damage system upgrades) is highly underrated, though the system is not really geared that well towards proper team tanking. Most people seem to just hop in a tank by themselves, drive into a free-fire field and then ragequit when they die. Doing team-tanking with freinds on VOIP is some of the most fun you can have in RO. I find Arad to be a good map when Im doing proper team tanking.
It's not supposed to be combined arms really. It's supposed to be sheer tank combat (and faggots soloing tanks) with little dickhole infantry here and there occasionally satcheling things.
Then why have the infantry at all? Make it an all tank map. I'd be fine with it then, even though I far prefer infantry combat to tanking. Otherwise make a proper combined arms I.E Tractor Factory, Leningrad, etc.

IMO I just don't think Arad is a good map because it's sort of trying for the best of both worlds and comes off with neither. EDIT: Like Barashka.
I played the first game and I enjoyed it for a little awhile. But not as much as other people on FP. But I'll probably get myself a copy
Well, RO2 will be more polished and just looks incredible. It's worth the money.

I'm really looking forward to both the public and the realism fronts in RO2 though, it looks and sounds great.

If so, I'll probably have to try joining one for RO2.
Is there really a huge difference between Realism Units and public servers besides having way more teamwork? I'll be hosting for a unit myself though.
Is there really a huge difference between Realism Units and public servers besides having way more teamwork? You usually don't play on the ordinary maps and you have a set up objective and stuff, it's more roleplay and much more strategic/tactical and such.
RO1=Danzig

Admittedly there isn't intricate teamwork most of the time, and certainly it seems few pub players have read the infantry tactics handbook that comes with the game, but I still find it very enjoyable. "Okay, so everyone, this is a machine gun. It's bad. Don't get shot by it. Okay?"
Preview about RO2 from Strategy Informer: http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/redorchestra2heroesofstalingrad/608/preview.html it's ok but nothing special. What? you want more you greedy bastards, well fine, here is some new RO2 footage: Part 1: This is an interview with a member of Tripwire Part 2: Gameplay footage, hell yeah
fuck me is that danzig NOooooooooooooOOOOOooooo [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] game looks really polished, so much than the older stuff we've seen
fuck me is that danzig NOooooooooooooOOOOOooooo [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] game looks really polished, so much than the older stuff we've seen
hah yeah, also the interview has some gameplay footage as well where it confirms that Germans get first person running animations of holding their rifle in one hand. Most of the people playing at the event were having 2v2 battles in case your wondering about why it's only 2v2 in the second video. But I loved the bullet wound on the German when he shot him. Also was anyone else confused when he pulled out the silenced pistol?

Also the one thing I don't like is how fast you can go from walking to sprint, but we'll see how it plays out when I get my hands on it.
awesome!but the problem with this game is the non existence of Asian community.that mean only a server in sea or in my region if i am lucky. And cant play in eu/usa servers due to high ping.I really hope that will change with this game. Also devs/publisher need to advertise the game little bit here,Asian pc fps community is pretty huge but 80% of pc gamers here does not know what RO is.

So you might be able to play on a European server fine.

There's a reasonably sized Chinese RO community, although they can't speak English and keep to themselves.
fuck me is that danzig NOooooooooooooOOOOOooooo [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] game looks really polished, so much than the older stuff we've seen
It's K____ Apartments, a remake of danzig. It doesn't look quite so bad tho. [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] Lol I love this Forgotten Hero guy freaking out. "NO! THE RUSSIAN UNIFORM IS A WINTER UNIFORM COLORED FOR THE SUMMER THEY NEED A GREATCOAT ARGHH TWI YOU'VE RUINED THE GAME"

THE RUSSIAN UNIFORM IS A WINTER UNIFORM COLORED FOR THE SUMMER THEY NEED A GREATCOAT ARGHH TWI YOU'VE RUINED THE GAME"
Oh god, I just read that on the youtube comments, that's hilarious, especially this
Well good for them because I am not playing Call of Orchestra,I'm sticking with Darkest Hour. Now theres going to be a bunch of fucking COD 12 year old noobs controlling HOS running their stupid whiny mouths in voice chat, spam shooting running and gunning. I dont want that and tripwire wants our money nothing more* which is why their trying to attract COD players which they have done and now its screwed,I aint playinbg with 14 yr old morons trying to control the place
So because some uniforms are wrong, the game is now "Call of Red Orchestra" :downs: and I wasn't surprised when he said he was a Darkest Hour moron. Those guys think DH is superior to RO, at least they are going to stay with DH and not move to RO2 and be retards.
fuck me is that danzig NOooooooooooooOOOOOooooo [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] game looks really polished, so much than the older stuff we've seen
I dont know, Im not seeing many more Polish people than before. I fucking love the weapon bobbing and freeaim though, seems to be done really organically. Its not "gun fixed to face" like 99% of shooters. [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] I love at the end of the video how the german soldier comes ramboing at him with a luger and shoots him in the face. "AXIS WIN!"

The only real thing that Darkest hour succeeds at is the tank combat. Three months after HoS comes out though it will be evenly matched. [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] I'm loving the hud and the minimap is nice. I hope they keep the map in for bigger maps but its nice not having to press O to figure out where to go.
How common a sight it was in WW2 I wouldn't know.
I know it was used by NKVD and Spetsnaz. It wouldn't have seen front line use most likely, but it did exist, and therefore TWI has decided to use it. EDIT: Not saying there's a problem with that.
The wiki article says that it was issued in small numbers to "reconnaissance and scout troops" but it looks like it has no citation
