i'm just saying it's more magical with iron sights only because you think first about getting closer and/or keeping heads low rather than just blowing heads off from the other side of the map. gets kinda lame when you think about it. i don't care if there were real marksmen -- if it damages gameplay, as all sniper-like classes do, it's not a good thing

even in old ro it was absolutely useless. people would fight and wait in line to snatch the sniper class up an be even more useless in combat because they want more personalized skills instead of running around with an lmg and being, you know, useful

Useless ? wow... snipers are really really efficient at taking out enemy MG's and hiding enemies in general, it's the complete opposite of useless.

I love the new videos, I can't wait to play singleplayer coop then play online, we just need proper HD video and some tank vs tank or tank vs infantry footage and we are set. Also did that multiplayer footage have bots in it because sadly it looked like it, but the explosion effects from a grenade look god damn amazing, also the command rose was cool. Can't fucken wait.

I hope RO2 has music that can compete with the awesomeness of Ghost Recons anthem music. Never seen a 60 second segment that can convey such a grey, bleak and realistic atmosphere (referring to the first 60 seconds) That's why I loved ROOST's music, something about it conveyed that same feeling as the GR anthem, but more classic Eastern sounding.

Have you ever even played RO? For more than 30 minutes? It's a serious question. Do you really think, for instance, that snipers have no place on Odessa? How about Berzinia? Tractor factory? Vidzeme? Smolensk stalemate? Just naming a few off the top of my head.

Tbh I don't know what RO servers you're playing on. Shit like that never seems to happen. Whoever gets the sniper gets it, and nobody minds much. That doesn't change the fact that it can be ridiculously useful. For instance, in Leningrad, the German team would be much, much worse off without a sniper, even if the sniper's bad.

I think its all handled from the cover system, I could be wrong.
Id imagine you could probably lean without cover. What if you're standing away from a wall, and want to peek around a distant structure?

The original RO has gore when a tank runs them over, so I doubt they wouldn't do it for RO2.

at :57 you can see the shadow of the enemy upstairs on the ceiling when he's on the bottom floor. That sometimes is a common shadow glitch, but it's unacceptable in this kind of game. Hopefully they fix that.

It is all coming together, more journalists are "seeing the light", which is nice... and some are still arse-wipes. But that is life!
I was chatting with one in SF (I think it was Jeb Haught) about reviews. The key point being that we are ok with people not liking the game, if they actually try playing it. That happens, even to the best games. But it is the ones who write idiot stuff, after sort-of, vaguely glancing at it that annoys developers. Jeb is one of those guys who makes an effort, which is appreciated. I think it was him making a point (my mind was a little vodka-hazed the next morning) that he never actually gets to keep playing his favorite games - after about a week, if he is going to do high-quality, in-depth reviews, he has to move on to the next game - and the next. I can imagine the frustration. Especially when you have to do an in-depth review of a game that truly sucks big hairy ones...
So, you've seen some single player now. Hopefully there may be a few more write-ups, but we weren't keeping track of who played what on Thursday evening - just too much going on!

Also I don't know why people are complaining about the Germans not speaking German, the post from the guy from Tripwire explained it perfectly where it is more realistic to understand what your own team is hearing since you are supposed to be a German or Russian right, not an American who doesn't understand anything. Also looking more carefully at the German Multiplayer video where the guy shoots that Russian in the back hundreds of times, if you look closely it looks like he misses those, so if that is the case I don't see why people are complaining about hit reg being stupid.
