I'm not the only one who looks forward to this more than BF3 right? Sure I'll play BF3 a lot but it's always the same thing, to difference from RO:HOS which will have a ton of mods (and quite a few total conversions too).

Oh suppressive fire, oh god I can't wait for RO2 to fire a MG34 at the Russians. Oh look destruction, I can't wait to be running through ruins left by a T-34. Oh look really good sound, I can't wait to be in RO2 and hear those beautifully realistic gun sounds and the sound of artillery. Oh look no mod tools, I can't wait to fire from a trench in WWI, go through the jungles of Vietnam, or hide in the jungle, waiting for the perfect opportunity to ambush an American soldier in the pacific. Oh look, BF3 wants to be immersive, when I play it, I will probably feel like I am playing a classic Battlefield game. Red Orchestra wants to be immersive, when I play it, I will definitely feel like I'm IN World War 2. On another note, I found this few day old article on destructoid showing the recently released screen shots, http://www.destructoid.com/new-screens-of-red-orchestra-2-and-rising-storm-mod-205957.phtml but the point of posting that is if you scroll down to the comments the author says that there will be animations for entering tanks. I'm pretty sure no where before that was confirmed.
Just a heads up: you accidentally wrote no mod tools.
That wasn't a mistake, the "oh ......" part at the beginning is when I'm reading news on BF3, the part after the coma is me thinking about RO2.
Fanboy much? :v: Then again I'm a BF fan. I'll be playing both though.
The no mod tools for BF3 was kind of a killer for me, and the reason the public relations guy gave for it was such flamboyant bullshit; to the point where I felt like I became dumber after reading what he said. I feel like I shoudln't be rewarding their mentality by giving them my money.
I'll probably never get this, but DAMN if this game doesn't have the most believable death animations ever.
bf3 will undoubtedly have better sfx, but ro2 will have better gameplay mechanics
You can't really compare their mechanics. One is arcadey, the other is realism based.
Post by Yoshiro saying about how later (maybe today) they will post on the differences between relaxed realism and realism servers:
We will be discussing the differences (perhaps as soon as today) here on the forums. There were a few remaining design choices that had not yet finalized that kept us from detailing our plans earlier.
Also a post by Alan talking about a little of people have nothing to be worried about:
And there is another point here: with the explosion of insanity on the forums over the last couple of weeks, combined with the insanity of crunch time in the office, it is getting extraordinarily hard to keep up with everything on the forums. Part of it is that people are either largely ignoring answers we do have time to make, or finding reasons to go MILLLLLLES off beam from the tiniest detail. As far as a lot of us can tell, a set of shoulder-tabs on a Red Army soldier in a PR shot has led people to infer that you'll be able to run at warp speed and that there is a reloading mini-game or something. Just as a general point, people are picking up on the tiniest details... firstly, all the core RO mechanics that people love are all still there - and core. Secondly, even the terribly scary things like "ranking up" are done in tiny amounts... mostly it is about creating an Honor system, with a few (small, tiny even) benefits attached. Try it - we think you'll actually like it - everyone in the current beta seems to. At the end of the day, RO2 is RO1 with a lot of new (realism-based) mechanics and a lot more thought gone into providing the player with information that you have in the real world. We've add some "more modern" bells and whistles, because, on the whole, people like that stuff. And if people want to create RO1 from RO2, you'll be able to do just exactly that. If all the requested switches aren't available on Day 1, then they can either be added by us or modded in, including to the server browser. This stuff isn't hard! But right now, we are on a death-march to bring you this game. So you're just going to have some patience - I know it has been a long wait (you should try seeing that wait from THIS side of the fence), but we're almost there now. So calm down with the whole "Oh noes, Tripwire are ruining my game" thing.
Lets hope now that people can calm down now or after when the details of the differences between relaxed realism and realism servers are released.
Preview by Gamespy: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/red-orchestra-heroes-of-stalingrad/1182451p1.html It's actually pretty good and they do compare it to CoD, but in the good way where they loved playing RO2 and for example said that RO2 had these beautiful huge maps that are the size of every CoD map combined and bigger.
I'll probably never get this, but DAMN if this game doesn't have the most believable death animations ever.
Im pretty sure those aren't animations. I have a general idea of what it is but I cant put it into words.
kind of crazy to think that tripwire made a game about throwing money at people, but also made ro
Imagine if Tripwire made a realism mutator for KF :v:.
Imagine if Tripwire made a realism mutator for KF :v:.
Sex and Death.
animation blending into ragdoll
Yep. Same goes for Battlefield 3 and pretty much most of today's modern games. Apart from Rockstar's games which have Euphoria for example.
Yep. Same goes for Battlefield 3 and pretty much most of today's modern games. Apart from Rockstar's games which have Euphoria for example.
Euphoria is sexy though. Half ragdoll and stuff. Or like Overgrowth.
I love the way RO2 is handling it though, looking at this GIF It looks like the German reacts to being hit in the leg instead of just standing there and taking it, and how the bullets go right through him, it looks amazing. It might mean though that bullets can still hit a body after death instead like RO where the bullets just go through the bodies and how there is no collision with the bodies.
iirc L.A. Noire didn't use euphoria. It used a mix of some sorts; there's canned death animations, but when you stumble as Phelps you act similar to the euphoria engine. Also, yeah, that RO2 animation and gun work is looking awesome so far. Although, there was a certain charm to the ragdoll hits and shaking heads that dominated RO1 deaths :v:.
Imagine if Tripwire made a realism mutator for KF :v:.
It has also been suggested that we would have you fighting Chavs instead of zombies at that point as well.
That picture, the guy looks like he is dying in slowmotion and his body doesn't physically react to the bullets, still good but yeah :v:
what are you talking about? he actually stumbles backwards when he first gets shot, then when the bullets hit him in the torso he flies back a little, look at his arm being thrown back
New PC Gamer preview: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/07/19/red-orchestra-2-heroes-of-stalingrad-preview-2/#comments Nothing really new but from the sounds of it, though it looks the melee system will be like ROs.
It has also been suggested that we would have you fighting Chavs instead of zombies at that point as well.
Looks like we have an idea for a RO2 FP mod.
I hope this game has less grenades than the original, the spam sometimes in RO rivaled BF2 infantry only.
It was satisfying to see enemies getting blown up though.
I hope this game has less grenades than the original, the spam sometimes in RO rivaled BF2 infantry only.
From how big the maps are now I doubt it will be a huge problem, only reason right now its very noticeable in RO is because of 50 players playing on 32 player maps. When you play on the Darkest Hour big maps or the custom maps designed for 50 players. It basically becomes not existent.
Post by Ramm kind of detailing how Heroes work
You don't level up to hero, and are always a hero. You level up to the point of being a hero "candidate". The game also limits the number of heros allowable on a server. So through some jedi voodoo in the background the server picks the heros from the possible hero candidates, up to the limit set by the server. So unless a server admin goes nuts with their settings (and they can't get too crazy unless they are running custom mode), you'll never have a bunch of heroes in one server.
Basically it looks like it's not like RO where you select that class but it is completely random.
We are rolling into our Clan Beta: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?p=773502#post773502
I bet my ass the pouty realism units are gonna apply and get a beta spot just to nag on the game.
I'll be expecting my realism unit, 305.ID to apply.
