I'm not saying the destruction BC2 is unrealistic. It's just that I doubt people use explosives as much in IRL. And it was way too messy for the game itself.
You haven't really read enough about BF3 then :v:
They said everything won't be destructable in the map, to keep it playable. :downs:
Yeah. At this point it just feels like blind fanboyism tbh.
I could say that BF3's destruction effects immerse me in a war torn Paris. And to be frank, from what I played they did.
Well, in reality this isn't that inaccurate. Modern hand grenades can do serious damage to structures and light vehicles, and we're not even talking about launcher grenades, demo charges, rockets...
Actually, modern grenades aren't any more powerful than older grenades. I believe the most powerful mass produced hand grenade is from 56. You don't want to kill yourself with the grenade and cause of the increase in urban combat a lot of grenades are meant to kill everything in one room but nothing more. You don't want the building to fall down on your head.
Well, in reality this isn't that inaccurate. Modern hand grenades can do serious damage to structures and light vehicles, and we're not even talking about launcher grenades, demo charges, rockets... speaking of which, you'd be surprised by how prolific RPGs really are. My friend from Iraq told me about how easy it was to get them... ridiculous. Anyway, all that just to say that the damage done in BC2 is sometimes exaggerated, but it's not as far from reality as you'd expect. I suspect BF3 will tone it down a bit.
Uh, hand grenades do not inflict significant damage to structures (they're designed for fragmentation, and have a very low pressure-kill radius), and RPGs use shaped HEAT charges that will take out a wall but probably not the whole building. And the problem is that in BC2, 1/4 of the soldiers on the field have rocket launchers, 1/4 have mortars, and 1/4 have unlimited grenades, which just amplifies the destruction.

fragmentation grenades are meant to fragment, you're making it seem like the only possible hand grenade is a fragmentation grenade
fragmentation grenades are meant to fragment, you're making it seem like the only possible hand grenade is a fragmentation grenade
Aren't frag grenades the most used and standard issued grenades though?

Wow I read everything about BF3 and the one thing I miss makes me look stupid FFFFFUUUUU, oh well, im going to look for a source, sorry about that.
But my point still stands about their points, BF destruction is for standing out and ROs destruction is for helping the immersion.
Yeah. At this point it just feels like blind fanboyism tbh.

Not really blind fanboyism, if it was I would of never played BF1942-BF2142, don't get me wrong, it is one of my favorite game series of all time and I can't wait and I love BF3 after playing the alpha for 16 hours so don't really say I have something against BF3.
In terms of making it feel like a war town, well of course it does, but that's because you are doing it, remember ROs big point is immersion. considering the towns looked like the ruins that are going to be in RO2 it brings you back to that time period.
The difference is those towns did get war torn and it looks like how it would look back then, there isn't a modern conflict within Paris so it doesn't really make it feel like a war torn modern city that got fucked up, because that really hasn't happened yet. It's like saying the Red Faction series makes you feel like your on a war torn mars with everything destructible, it hasn't happened yet so we really don't know what that would be like.
I thought RO2 took out the destruction? I read that in an interview or somewhere a month or 2 ago. The only destruction footage is from last year.

Woah what? I haven't seen anything like that on the Tripwire forums and google hasn't given me an answer. If this is actually true I would really suggest you find a source on that.

I'm looking now
[editline]1st August 2011[/editline]
I'll just ask on their forums
http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=55231
So that is you.
Maybe
Heh you got a great response, I was thinking "hmmm maybe I should of told him that he should of mentioned that interview where they took it out so he doesn't sound stupid" then I thought "NAH lets see what hilarious reply he gets"
And it worked
So no destruction now? :(
I think it still exists. But it's more of the maps with tanks where it doesnt matter what angle you shoot the little wooden shed at. It will blow the thing up and kill the guy in it.
So no destruction now? :(
Well after Eliteguy posted that thread he just got made fun of :v: so I would take that as that destruction is still in game.
Also Tripwire will be at Gamescon, so if any of you guys are going, go there, steal a copy of the game or get HD footage, cause i need this now.
And since it's August now is going to be Tripwires massive PR blast, where they said that you have to be living under a rock to not hear about RO2. Can't wait to see what they do.
i can run GTA IV easily
On an 8400gs? I think "walk" is a more apt word.

All be there, I'll try to get some footage with... my iphone :v:
So don't expect no quality, or nothing in the first place :v:

Won't that put some people off?
I've always found ads to be incredibly annoying.

So basically expect the same quality we have already been getting :v: come back and tell us the features in action and stuff like if you can see your feet, well really everything you see. Also bring me with you, I MUST see RO2 now.

I doubt it, it's most likely going to be a new trailer, gameplay, interviews, articles all that sutff, maybe a website change or 2 (but i highly doubt that), it's not like your going to go to a website and a a giant add is going to pop up on the screen saying "you can't access this site until this IS2 rolls along your screen and watch these Germans and Russians yell for 30 seconds."
Guys
you're scaring me with this 8400 talk
i got a geforce 8400, is that the video card you're talking about? :tinfoil:

My PC should be able to run it at minimum settings.
I'll be getting a much better one soon though.
Tripwire, take my money and father my children.
