I wish my computer wasn't below the minimum requirements. Now i don't know whether i should buy it or not.
There is no health bar for tanks, but every part of the tank is modeled, you can hit it's engine and you can't drive it anymore, I'm pretty sure you can knock out another tanks track and you can start a fire in another tank. Tanking isn't exactly going to be simple, especially if you plan to track down enemy tanks.
Lets say you are playing in a 32v32 tank map, you have 31 other tanks that (with an organized crew) could easily take you out. Playing in a combined arms map? well good luck trying to avoid guys coming up behind you planting a satchel charge or enemy Anti-Tank guys who could easily take you out.
Also your suggestion sounds like making it more like CoD and other games where you are the tank, the main point of it is basically to be exactly like how it would be in real life, which means realistic, which also means a lot of team work. Why make the commander some how drive the tank while looking for targets, obviously you never played the original RO but tanking is almost done perfectly in there where RO2 brings it even closer to perfection and it works amazingly well, it sounds like you are a bit confused on how tanking works, wait for a beta video of it (if tanks are in beta) or wait till you try it your self in the beta or full game. You will see how making it like your suggestion completely ruins it's idea and ruins a perfectly good mechanic that I'm pretty sure Tripwire is the first to do. (Someone can correct me on that last part if I'm wrong)
I've played RO before, and I also play Steel Beasts Pro: PE, which is the closest thing you'll get to reality. That's exactly what I'm talking about. It's going to be great fun just immobilizing tanks in the middle of the battlefield when the crew can't get out.
What I'm saying here is the TC can do what TCs do in SB Pro PE, which is they can either set a waypoint and a general speed to get there, or they can select those speeds and then order turning left or right. Either way in real life this is how it works anyway. In RO the driver has NO situational awareness and can only say what he can see directly in front of the tank. The meat and potatoes of tank warfare is how well the TC and gunner work, not the driver and combined TC/gunner with no situational awareness.
In the RL Pz IV there was a device that let the TC show exactly where he was looking, and the gunner would be able to see that and aim the turret in that direction. Check the DH forums for it, I don't have the exact link anymore. A separate TC and gunner would mean the gunner could concentrate on engaging targets while the TC keeps a look out for other threats. Driving is a small part of tanking, and in RO driving is reduced to "turn left no stop right a little no wait FUCK LISTEN TO ME STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP -DEAD-"
This is not your daddy's unreal engine :) We do alot of processor intensive things combined with larger maps with alot of detail. We will post the min and recommended specs soon, but don't expect that you can run RO 2 if you ran UT 3.
Whoa what? Well that's sorta good since it will finally use my PC's power to it's potential, but damn, are you exaggerating and only talking about max settings?
In Countdown Mode you have only 1 life per objective?
Sweet! That'll be my favorite gamemode for sure.
That's going to be a god damn thrill.

Better save up the money for an upgrade, and till then maybe it'll be on some bigger discount?

A driver can not only see in front of him as they have added the side ports to the tanks which you can look out off. Also you are talking about a gunner seeing where the TC is looking, but the driver obviously doesn't know, the only way he can know what's around him is if the Commander tells him where to go. That's more realistic then marking somewhere on your map and setting the speed your self and all that.
Just say on the mic or type the exact same thing out, and it's more realistic.
About having the TC and Gunner spot separate, right now it is both un realistic and realistic, the Panzer IV does have the TC and the Gunner separated in real life, but in real life the T-34 had the TC fire the gun as well. Changing the T-34 to having the TC and Gunner separated would make it un realistic. What they should of done is gave the Panzer IV the TC and Gunner separated and kept the TC firing the fun for the T-34 since that is how it was in real life but Tripwire decided not to do that for balance issues.
For those that don't have RO1/-20% discount or the LV version (Australia and possibly Germany), I am willing to act as a liason into gifting you the full game with the discount, and hopefully without the LV.
I've already done it before for a German FPer regarding Black Ops and the GTA bundle. PM me if you're interested, to set something up.
Steam Deluxe Edition for 40 USD? fuck yes tripwire have my money.
Its good to see a new great WW II shooter.
Such a rare breed these days. :(

I blame the people that were "Sick to death" of WW2 games.
It's such a great time period for gaming, and there's still alot left untouched.
Stuff left untouched and stuff that has been used but could be awesome with todays new technology.
I still want a WW2 game where you can play as a German soldier in singleplayer that has an actual story and isn't an RTS.

That would be fun.

The only game i can think of that has that is Mount and Blade.
And hearts of iron.
Also french vs german
Also french vs german
Surrender Simulator?
Also french vs german
Poland Vs Germany, the invasion of Scandinavia, Finland Vs Russia, Czechoslovakia Vs Germany and pretty much the whole asian front except for Japan Vs USA.

Run away screaming simulator :v: ?
I hate modern shooters now. :saddowns:
Ofcourse all fronts aren't really suited for playing in a WW2 FPS :v:
I want another futuristic multiplayer game. Like Battlefield 2142.
Alright, let's do this the other way around.
It seems that Dollar=Euro principle still stands, even with discounts and whatnot. The price for the Digital Deluxe in the States is the same as the regular version here in Europe. Therefor, I'd like it very much if I could import the game from a friendly American FPer!
Really? That's strange, they said it wasn't gonna be that way.
I would like to see guriella warfare with the French Resistance/Polish Resistance. If not that... Chinese vrs Japanese.
Polish resistance, throwing potatoes fuck yeah!
Dunkirk, Monte Cassino, Sicily, Operation Overlord as a whole and not just America, Kokoda, New Guinea, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Tarawa, etc etc
There's so much potential, but it seems that they all want to stick to America vs Germany/Japan
I think the last time I saw an Australian in a WW2 game was Medal of Honour: Rising Sun
I hope that red orchestra 1 will be on weekend sale this week.
I am also really interested in an import deal for the standard version with an American. If the 20% discount can be applied to gifts I'll be sure to leave a tip from the savings.

I'm adding you on Steam, I'll drop you a message when I have the money.
If I am reported missing after the game is released just tell the police im busy with red orchestra 2.
Kthx
So is there any point in actually buying the deluxe edition other than getting early access via the beta?
From what I see it says day 1 unlock for certain weapons and 2 badges.
So do you have to gain xp to unlock weapons now or are they going to have certain weapons restricted for a week or so?
I really hope it's something xp related because locking weapons just so someone will pay a higher price tag to use them first when we will all get them at some point is just lame.
Looking forward to this game though, operating a tank is going to be sexual with those interiors!
