I just got an email saying I made it into the beta :)
DLing now.
I annoyed as many people as possible to get lots of rebels and would train up an awesome army. Good fun.
I could never get rebels, ever. Maybe I was just that good? And yes I had them turned on, in fact I had the option selected of "Your people have a long history of fleeing into the jungle and revolting at the slightest sign of trouble" or whatever it is.
Yeah I just started a new game. It was hard at first but I pissed everyone off and nobody likes me beside the military so there are always a few rebels against 20 soldiers.
Holy awesome, I didn't know they were making a third Tropico.
I'm definitely looking forward to this.
Oh, the many hours I spent ruling over my people with an iron fist, only to be killed in a coup d'etat.
i played tropico 1, it was ace...
and yes, i did cheat.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned (or maybe someone did and I suck at reading) that Tropico 3 is coming to Steam.

Hey, I remember this game! I played Tropico several years ago, it was awesome.
They have tropico, its expansion and tropico 2 on steam now for $15
Tropico 2 always crashes and the is bit laggy even with my new pc. Is that normal or what?
Sounds wierd, compatibility mode?
Don't know.
I installed the first tropico, the only thing that is choppy is the cutscenes thingies in the menu.
[editline]11:35PM[/editline]
Do you have tropico 1? Is there the same problems in that?
[editline]11:36PM[/editline]
Try running it in compatibility mode XP service pack 2 or 3.
My 6th grade science teacher played Tropico. I just remember him saying, "EL PRESIDENTE," all the time.
Your teacher is awesome.
First Tropico is absolutely fine, everything works nice. But really Pirate Cove isn't that great I prefer the first one.
All work and no play for El Presidente.
I just got Tropico 3 on Steam! Downloading now.
In the meantime Tropico 4 has been anounced and they released a few screenshots.

It doesn't look much different from tropico 3 however.
oh hey my thread I guess I'll update OP with shameless copy paste

I'll be satisfied if I can use my Nuclear program on dirty capitalist neighbouring islands.

It has like a year until release. I bet the devs are working on rts elements.
Countless hours I have lost to playing Tropico 1 and 2, I just wish I had the third
Countless hours were lost playing Tropico. I never played Tropico 2 but the pirate theme doesn't really appeal to me with it. Haven't played Tropico 3 much, I checked it out on a friend's computer, twas fun, will probably pick it up sometime soon.
How does Tropico 3 play compared to the first one? It was only recently that I even found out there were sequels to it. :v:

Never played the first ones but just played half an hour of Tropico 3. Really starting to love it, even though I just played the tutorial. Also the music is awesome.

Well worth $4.50 for the Steam Sale.

It is a pretty good and polished game, the mechanics of the Tropico 1 are kept but a bit modified and optimized. It is a bit more easy than the prequels, but still quite complex. The graphics are absolutely great, like the music and the whole setting.
It is a worthy sequel.

Looks way prettier though. Let's hope they scale the difficulty a bit better. Tropico 3 is needlessly hard at times.
Just got Absolute Power, re-installing it now.
They should focus on a new setting, Tropico 4 looks hardly different and I bet that there will not be much of a change. Maybe a futuristic setting or something during the medieval ages.

That's like saying that Simcity needs a new setting, like the prehistoric times.
Tropico always takes place on tropic islands (the name is a hint, you know) and that works fine.
