Still the developers could try something new instead of producing the nearly the same product everytime. A different series. Like Valve did with L4D and TF. [editline]26th December 2010[/editline] Or a tropical island in the future with space marines guarding the palace :v:

Tropico in a differant setting doesn't make any sense.
Well the settings are different the the Half-Life Series. They are different. Only because they use the same engine it does not necessarily mean that they are the same. I just wanted to mention that the devs should develop another game, not another Tropico which looks nearly the same. It is a waste of time and money, I think Tropico 3 did not sell that well.
It is a pretty good and polished game, the mechanics of the Tropico 1 are kept but a bit modified and optimized. It is a bit more easy than the prequels, but still quite complex. The graphics are absolutely great, like the music and the whole setting. It is a worthy sequel.
If it's actually easier, I might have to try to get it before the Christmas sale ends. I liked the first one a lot but I was absolutely terrible at it.
I'm terrible at this game, my first attempt ended with me being gunned down by my own troops. :frown: Second attempt went slightly better, but when compared to all my friends who played it, was also horrible.
I am having some major problems right now in my life and I would really like a little distraction from everything. PM me if you would like to know what is going on as I would not like to announce it publicly. So if anyone could get me this game (gold edition or otherwise). Thank you for everything (including reading this).
I was thinking I might try again, this time making a "communist" society, by having jobs pay 0, rent 0, restaurants free, etc. While having a well paid police and military force to keep everyone in line. [editline]26th December 2010[/editline] Also I couldn't figure out how the fucking oil shit works. I hear it nets you assloads of income, but I can't find the option to build oil rigs and the refineries will only build on land (I have no oil on land).
Tropico 4 will introduce new depth to trading, social policies, and politics both local and international on your idyllic island playground. Rather than simply sending excess goods to the docks for a simple return, the ability to manage imports and exports gives you a powerful new economic knob to turn. Appointing ministers can help in implementing unpopular edicts without inviting social unrest. New demands and interactions between the factions within you populace will open up new gameplay. Finally, new global powers beyond just the U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. present their own challenges and opportunity. As schizo as the U.S. could be in the last games, imagine how great it'll be to have to balance their capitalist demands with the populist pandering of a Chavez-like Venezuelan leader.
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/08/13/tropico-4-announced.aspx Okay, this sounds interesting!
Tropico 4 is currently set for a Q2 2011 PC release
OH! MY! GOD! FUCK YES!
Anyone else think it was weird that allying with the US meant Nuclear Testing and the USSR meant Aid? Seemed kinda backward to me.
Bought and downloaded this through Steam. I'm sure it'll be worth the $6.80 or whatever it's on sale for right now.
I got bored of Tropico 3 after 3 sessions. Too reptitive, "combat" was a joke and its boring. The procedure i did was basically Build mines Build farms Build one entertainment Build a tenement Wait for big flow of cash Build factories Start tourisim Build monuments :Profit Admire island Quit
In the first Tropico, I never got into the combat. I always did better by completely ignoring that combat existed in the game actually.
They should focus on a new setting, Tropico 4 looks hardly different and I bet that there will not be much of a change. Maybe a futuristic setting or something during the medieval ages.
Tropico 500's: Paradise Revoked. Ahahaha yeah right.
They should make a combat system sorta like CoH, where troops take cover and shit. They also need to fix the problem where troops try to ditch as soon as combat starts, really.
I am going to shoot Betty Boo SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR FUCK SAKE
I can't get past the first mission in Tropico 3. Any pointers? I've restarted twice and have played for about 2 hours :saddowns:
I can't even work out how oil works. Nobody will tell me :frown:
I can't even work out how oil works. Nobody will tell me :frown:
Oil?
Tropico 3 has Oil, but I dont' know how to get at it as it's always over the water and the only Oil related buildings I can make are land-based. [editline]8th January 2011[/editline] It shows Oil Rigs in the menu cutscene, but I can't find them anywhere.
Weird. I don't even know how to place fishing docks or whatever they are called to get some seafood. Do you know how?

But how do you use fishing docks?
Tropico 3 crashes on startup on windows7 64bit (beta build). When I launch the screen goes black and displays the caribbean-themed cursor for a second then it crashes. In any case, I had the same issue and I fixed it by disabling my second monitor.
Tropico 2 was the best.
Why are you using Windows 7 Beta? In any case, I had the same issue and I fixed it by disabling my second monitor.
because im poor. Is there any way to lower the settings out of game? I played it before, too, with no problems.
El Presidente!
Why are you using Windows 7 Beta? In any case, I had the same issue and I fixed it by disabling my second monitor.
I don't even have to do that.
Is there any way to lower the settings out of game?
If you have it through Steam you could just try finding the config files, deleting them, then verifying the files through Steam. It would redownload them for you. I'm not sure where Tropico 3 stores them though.
I wish I had Tropico 3, I lost my copy RIGHT after I bought it (And I uninstalled it, this was before I knew about cracks and whatnot.)

Uninstalling, restarting, drivers, etc, I've tried. I have a nvidia GTS 250.
