Try selling them, it will probably say you have to sell them for a dollar or auction them.
I think that the pricing of craftable items should be the sum of the cost of all of the parts, plus however you made the price fluctuations, with maybe a little bit more to make crafting more economically viable. This would ensure that you would almost always make more by selling a product than by selling parts.
