This, it would be a lot cooler to see more wild animals.
would actually be awesome if Herobrine was added, and only would appear on certain worlds. This can cause a huge chaos which I like.
Sounds interesting, but I don't think I trust notch or anybody to implement something that will mess with my OCD chest sorting systems. It'll probably just bug out at some point and delete a load of stuff whilst trying to move it between chests.
Why do people think of Minecraft as a horror game? This seems like something that would keep me from playing it.
I'm sceptic. God it would piss me off if a ghost decided to steal my hard earned gold </3
I'd like a Weeping Angle style mob from Doctor Who. When you look at it, you think it's a statue and then when you turn around and start walking away, it begins following you, until you turn around again and crap your pants.
The ghost mob idea doesn't sound very fun.
An actual physical ghost might be cool for a new flying mob, maybe it could go through walls not placed by the player so it could come out of the walls while your mining but it couldn't follow you into your house.
Maybe ghosts could only be found in certain places like around dungeons or ruins.

That would actually be a good idea.
Especially if ruins were added into the terrain generator, you could find a ruined castle or somthing with some statues inside and there would be like a 2/10 chance one of those statues is actually alive.

It wouldn't be so hard recognizing a npc like that :v:
what if you think about grassy dirt or something. or a block enemy which changed to the texture it's standing on

That would be a good idea, or at the spots where you died (to a maximum of 5 spots, otherwise there would be ghosts everywhere)

and this.

The minecraft forums will explode.
I was scared for the slight moment I thought this was real:

A monster that can remove torches and open doors would be enough. Making it steal items from your inventory and chests would really suck.
How about an ent that drops apples or something. A semi-rare tree that gets pissed off if you attack any trees within 20 or so blocks of it. As a plus you do extra damage with an axe compared to a sword.
I don't want a mob that does any of those things, because A LOT of those things you mentioned would make it a lot harder to enjoy the creative part of Minecraft. I don't want my hard earned items from chests just going missing, I don't want torches I've placed to be removed and my houses/mines swarmed with enemies, I don't want my weapons being taken away and being left to die somewhere etc...
I prefer mobs who are more simple enemies. Not these weird scripted events, but mobs with physical forms, that can be beaten, and that can be of use in the minecraft world.
A simple ghost/wraith mob that just has the capability to open doors and go through one-block walls of light materials would ultimately be sufficient to make me question my sanity.
No need for all the other shit.
Jeb hinted at the possibility of raising baby animals on his Twitter.

I just want goblin invasions
massive armies of goblins that attack your castle randomly, like dwarf fortress
I'd like to see baby animals, as well as a larger variety of animals such as horses and goats, but ghosts wouldn't really fit in my books. We already have those fucking ghasts in the nether to scare the living shit out of you anyways.

I just wish dwarf fortress had graphics like minecraft, a 3d view would make it much more accessible, but that doesnt seem to go with minecraft's style

It would be cooler to see generic animals than ghosts? I find myself disagreeing heavily. I'd rather be performing exorcisms than getting shat on by pigeons.
There should be a way to get rid of it but it would be hard, like needing light stone or something. So for a lot of people the only way to be rid of it is to pack up and move somewhere else creating abandoned houses in maps.
But I agree it should be rare, maybe there is no way to get rid of one but for that to work it would have to be incredibly rare.
The one I came up with.
A Stalker.
It's like a blind and fast zombie. The only way to get away from it is either kill it, or use the sneak key to prevent yourself from making noise.
Maybe something like the 'Boo' from Super Mario.
An enemy that sneaks up on you when you're not looking at it, but which flees when you turn around.
How about it makes torches simply go out? Right click on them to ignite them again. Sometimes the ghost could make it flicker, perhaps.
I wish they'd implement giants.
Imagine, You're walking along than you here booming footsteps on the dirt, You peak a hill and see a massive ass giant walking around.
you wouldn't mess with that motherfucker.
The best suggestions for "Ghost" mobs I've heard, are the suggestions about a mob that would work like the Weeping Angels from Dr Who, or the Boos from Mario. An enemy that is completely harmless as long as you look directly at it, but that will get closer when you look away.
I don't want any enemy that removes torches or walks through walls though, perhaps this mob could be un-killable with regular physical attacks, but would die from being exposed to daylight or from well-lit areas.
And is attracted to book cases.
I want more mobs with special abilities like the spider climbing, which force players to think about base defences (such as building a rim around your towers to stop spiders climbing up) also spiders should shit cobwebs everywhere in caves. Maybe scorpians in desert biomes, more wild animals would make the world seem more hostile and challenging. Bats in caves?
A haunting sounds absolutely delightful. And by delightful I mean terrifying.
Also, would there be any methods of banishing said Ghost? Perhaps using Golden weapons, or perhaps forging some sort of mystical Cold Iron Circle?
Craftable proton packs.
