When one is near you torches will flicker, paintings will change behind you and your vision will darken like when you go up to high

I mean sometimes this can have big effects for players even if it is just a misplaced torch or a door left opened I know that I spend alot of my time organizing my items and if I ever should need those in a emergency that's a real bitch...

If it happens to you, you become more aware. you remember what torches were up, if doors were open and where your stuff was in your invertory
Actually, i fired up a save i had and checked, to my amazement, a painting i had put up that consisted of purple blocks had been changed into a burning skull.

Mob only found in deep swampy forests. Neutral, and when you try to approach it it disappears. However, if you're lucky enough to kill it you receive some sort of special items. They come in an assortment of designer colours.
I think this would be quite interesting.Maybe it could be slightly less terrifying and when you exorcise it,it could leave behind a clue or a map or something leading to a randomly generated ruined castle(that only generates after you find the map),with a Nether portal at the top or bottom of said castle leading to a big Nether dungeon with awesome loot exclusive to the dungeon.
Actually,scrap the ghost and just make the map/clue be found rarely in dungeons.

The one thing i'm wondering is if you manage to make that, are you going to add the polarghost3000? (?)
ghosts would be awsome since notch is adding random ruins to the game, espeacialy if building a pentagram out of redstone would summon them. also id like to see something evil like this comming out of the nether portals, cas rly... having one in my basement has gotta be putting out some bad mojo already
a goblin invasion would be impractical for me, cas i live in a big 30x30 pyramid thats like 5 floors tall, 2 underground 3 inside, with the outside coated in steps.... yes it makes it very resistant to the ghosts in the nether. but i usualy wake up to cows walking around on my house
This would be awesome if it reallly just occured in, maybe, 1 out of a thousand worlds, or more. That way, most people will never encounter it, and people on different will simply believe it's a just a band wagon of some kind, like herobrine.

Notch already said he will keep the game "child-ish" (no gore, blood or overly scary stuff), and that would just be a annoying as fuck mob with no use. And quit with the idea with Minecraft being an horror game, because if i wanted that i would probably play Amnesia.

How is this related to the thread in any way?
With notch actually coding stuff and not taking a vacation every other day, maybe, JUST maybe this could happen.
They should only spawn in (and maybe close to) strongholds or underground ravines.

And I would love little goblins that can open doors and remove torches.
And if they spot you they start running away. If you don't chase them they'll come back and remove some more torches or doing other annoying stuff
I think you should have the option if you wanted to summon this "Ghost".
