Deus Ex Megathread: "Now everyone will see why I needed a skull-gun".

Anyone who hasn't got Deus Ex needs to buy it now! Only buy IW if you like dumbed down, console-port shooters on the PC. The only good thing that came out of IW were the ragdolls, but now that's pretty standard stuff in games.
I think Deus Ex is the most important game ever made. (And my favorite.) It shows what is possible only in videogames, Deus Ex couldn't be as wonderful as it is if it were a book, or a movie, or any other type of story. Its perfection.
I played Invisible War on the original Xbox, it was probably one of my favorite games of all time. I even stopped playing Halo 2 so I could finish the game... XD
Really, what do all you others find wrong with it?
And holy shit, a third is actually in the making? That's awesome!
Just got IW to go with my Deus Ex and now the circle is complete.
Tried the IW demo, and it seems pretty fun if somewhat dumbed down in areas
I want to point out that Deus Ex is 50% off today, its $5
I love Deus Ex and Invisible War. I'm sure you guys would like IW if it didn't have the DE title on it

This is incredible! The original composer was involved as well.

This game was fucking boring I got all the way to tokyo or whatever and just quit, shit isn't fun.
And sneaking around is retarded I ran up to the terrorist dude and was like facing him 5 feet away and he kept walking like I wasn't there.
Also shooting is fucking stupid takes an hour for the dude to to line up and shoot at where I'm aiming while I'm standing still and the guns do squat shit when they hit their target. "Cybernetically enhanced" my ass. The asshole can't even shoot right.
I don't know why you guys praise this game, it's lauded for doing so much but it does everything like shit.

For some reason Dues Ex runs WAY too fast for me. When I walk, it looks like I'm using a speedhack or something, and the subtitle text flies by.

Nevermind, installing HDTP seems to have fixed it.
I just bought Deus Ex from Steam and I can't seem to get it to run. It keeps crashing before it gets to the main menu. Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it? I'm running Vista 64bit by the way.

I was going to suggest that you could set your core affinity to 1 for Deus Ex, cause it runs a bit funny with some multi core CPU's.
Tried getting into this a long time ago and the first level put me off for some reason, I guess I had no attention span. I bought the original and sequel on Steam and put an hour or so into the first game so far, loving it.
Funny, I only seem to be capable of playing this game on the weekends. Last weekend I progressed a lot, I went through the Hong Kong MJ12 facility.
Grays.
This is just getting more ridiculous and awesome.
Oh yeah I also got the superfreighter.
Just bought this game earlier today in one of those cheap bins you find at tech stores.
Pretty sure I have never played a game as good as this, there is so much to do.
I found stealing people logons and passwords to be quite amusing.
Never played Deus Ex, but my friend has been all over me to try it for the past year and I finally finished all the games I wanted to. I want to know if I should play stock or grab a updated texture mod. http://www.offtopicproductions.com/hdtp/?page_id=3
How do I fix that slowmotion bullcrap? I'd like to enjoy the game but can't D:
I loved this game. I always died by smoking 50 packs of cigarettes :v:
What a shame

Dedicate to only one core or something? The game speed shit seems to be caused by multicore CPUs.
Anyway, I'm really stuck in the game. [sp]I'm at the military base (Vandenberg, maybe?) where you're supposed to go to the control room to see Garry Savage and plug Daedalus in. I've killed every enemy bot, done all secondary objectives, and killed all MJ12 troopers as well.
Now, there's a door at the same room that can't be interacted with the nanokey (just says the door is locked instead of wrong code). Now, there is a button on the other side I can see from the generator room, yes I've been to the tunnels under the comm 01 station, found a "maintenance key" from there, but no door to apply it to.[/sp]
I tried setting the affinity of the process to use 1 core but it always goes back to using two and doesn't work. I once got it going super fast.
It went super fast on the intro cinematic for me when I started it for the first time, but the core affinity saved.
Google'd.

I had the super-speed-hax problem too, but unfortunately I forgot how i fixed it. It was also my an old single core PC.
I can't get HDTP to work with the Steam version. I tried replacing the Steam .exe with a no-cd and that didn't work.
Anyway, I'm really stuck in the game.
[sp] Did you go all the way through the tunnels, or did you turn back and come out the same way?[/sp]
[sp]I went to the flooded generator room, and I also went past the tripwires which spawn the two spiderbots. There was a door behind them, but I don't think I can open it anymore. I'd need one more multitool for the electric box, but there's nothing left on the level.[/sp]
[sp] The door is on a timer. If you don't reach it in time, backtrack a little bit and climb onto the overhead pipes to get past it [/sp]
Which ending is Invisible War supposed to follow? It's been awhile since I played it.

New Dark Age
It's all coming back to me, "The collapse" rings a bell.
Also I only discovered today that you find Alex Denton in a large tank of water in Area 51, but how does he survive the destruction of Area 51?
New Dark Age
Na, it's the merging with Helios.

That makes more sense.
