An Open Discussion for Facepunch : Why The hostility towards younger gamers playing games we like?

If they don`t scream into their fucking mic then we can`t even know that there`s a kid playing.
I don't mind kids if they don't whine every time they get killed or go on some screaming rant listing off every vulgarity. It's sad that it's hard to come by a kid like that. I feel this way to all audiences no matter their age.
I have no problem with kids that a good, cooperative players. But more often than not they're obnoxious, loud whiners that will complain about everything and have little gaming etiquette. Unfortunately, since the latter outweigh the former, I find that I'm often biased when I hear a nasally, prepubescent voice over the mic.
Offtopic: Why does your avatar give me the weirdest boner every time I see it dammit.
Ontopic: Young kids are usually terrible at games, obnoxious and painful to deal with. It's not really a stereotype because it's true. I'm sure all of us remember quite a few things they did as a 14 year old gamer that were really really fuckin' stupid or immature.
15 is a kid's age. I'm 30. You annoy me. But only because you think you are an adult with life experience and the right to moan and gripe about everything and "kids ruining your childhood" or something. Grow up, stop griping and caring about stuff that doesn't matter, and then you can complain about this crap, but probably won't want to. Who cares if a kid plays a game. There are some games 8 year olds shouldn't play, but I'm not going to resent someone for doing so.
Why should you care if some kid plays a game you like. Unless you are some hipster elitest who hates something the moment it becomes popular, why waste the energy to worry about it?
Stress will kill you man.
Personally, I like listening to two of them argue together. I normally get a laugh out of it.
;32009509']The fact they don't shut the fuck up.
About 3 years ago I told some kid in CSS who was using his mic to talk strategy that his voice sounded like someone strangling a cat. After that he just played in complete silence and I still feel awful for it.
Generally for the same reason I don't use a headset online: Mermaid voice.
Sometimes I find myself about to make fun of a younger kid, and then I think: hey, you were 12 at one point and playing these games too - give him a break.
I often think that, it doesn't help.
I hate the arrogant older gamers more than the kids, I've listened to perfectly normal kids who are just trying to play the game and communicate with their team get told to shut up by some 19 year old faggot who thinks he is part of some kind of superior race despite being more annoying than the kid.
Wow this thread is stupid.
I hate their high pitch voice over low quality VOIP.
I can't stand "GIB FREE ITEM".
Many actually are cocky enough to talk shit against grown ups just because they're on the internet, no respect for others whatsoever.
Man I've been a gamer for my entire life, but when I was a kid I knew that I stumbled into "people-older-than-me"-territory when I got to play GTA Vice City Multiplayer as 13, and so I tried to show respect for people. And I still do with my fellow gamers. It's just some of these kids man. Not all of them.
Yesterday I was playing with this 8 year old kid on Halo Reach matchmaking (He kept blurting out that he was 8) and I said "Shut the fuck up and take the male genitalia out of your mouth" and he Chucked a spaz Saying he'd boot me because apparently he was the host (I't was matchmaking so he actually didn't have any authorities at all) and for the whole game he wouldn't shut up.
So if kids don't act like that on Video Games i'm fine with them.
When I was 13 and I played Halo 3 (I saved up for a year for an Xbox and Halo 2 but then I found out that Halo 3 had been out for some time on the Xbox 360!) for the first time ever I tried to be polite with people but they just told me to shut the fuck up and constantly team killed me to grab the sniper whenever I had it. After a few matches I met a really cool dude from Wales (and he wasn't a kid, he was 22 at that point) who taught me lots of things that have helped me out a lot and who, after 3 years, still is one of my coolest friends. :3:
I admit im an offender when it comes to this and its not a good thing.
I think its because older gamers have grown up through the evolution of gaming, seen it grow from the 8 bit games to the ones we have now. This has effectively created an open mindness about video games as even is the graphics aren't the greatest, we can appretiate the gameplay as the games when we were kids, graphics wasnt the highest factor in the quality of a game.
Its this open mindness we have that creates frustration when we see a younger gamer who lacks the same.
We shouldn't let it bother us, but it does.
That or they might just be a cocky little shit online who you just want to murder.
As long as the child is mature enough to respect others opinions and play a fun game without starting an arguement then its not a problem.
You guys say that most kids are obnoxious when playing, and that's just not true. Most kids don't use mics. The few that do, however, I'll admit can get annoying sometimes. Thing is that they usually get provoked into being angry and annoying because of their voices.
I have no problem with kids playing games, I have as much of an issue with annoying kids as I have with annoying adults.

You kind of asked for that by telling him to shut up.
You guys don't even know the half of it. In VERY VERY rare occasions, kids younger then 13 will join in Kane and Lynch 2... and let me tell you... it brings out their inner squealing demon.
The game basically wants you to grief them anyway.
I'm 14 and I hate my own voice, I understand why I shouldn't use a mic.
Nothing beats the feeling of making a trash talking 12 year old cry over xbox live.
Nothing.
They don't really understand or care about the game they are playing.
I'm 14 and I feel like I'm in the middle. I can't stand prepubescent children talking on the microphone, especially ones that say "I'M MATURE FOR MY AGE". But then I try to avoid talking on my microphone just in case. My voice doesn't sound prepubescent neither does it sound broken. I just prefer to keep to myself as I have done since I was 9.
I hate loud mouthed chavs more than anything, kids don't really bother me.
"ogm gius thta gyz duoble jumpign y he hackz somewun ban hmi k"
These threads always end up with people telling their ages and how they find their own voices annoying and are embarrased/say that people with the same age make a stereotype/how they are mature enough.
So here I am, uitham, 14[sp].5!!!![/sp] years old etc etc
TTT is full of squeaky kids on the microphone.
