one last question, has anything significant changed? I played mostly before that whole new continent opened up with the alchemy or whatever, though I did play long enough to make like giants and elves.
But has it changed significantly from way back when?

Mabinogi updates frequently. You're going to be shocked when you see Mabinogi now.
I am hoping they'll do the much needed hardware upgrade to their servers now, shit's unplayable at the moment, even though it was perfectly fine a couple of years back.

Nexon didn't expect Steam to bring so many players I think.
Yeah, I'm on Mari... I guess I can delete my alt account's characters and switch to alexina.
also, don't make a girl character unless you are actually a girl. People WILL flirt with you and it WILL get really awkward, REALLY fast.
The servers are fuller then they've ever been. So much so that it's laggy as shit on weekends. :v:
Actually, mari is still pretty dead..

Try Dunbarton Square Channel 7. I don't know if channels were switched or if everyone moved, but channel 1 used to be where everyone had shops set up, then around mid October channel 7 became the shop channel. Personally, I thought it was to throw off those annoying bots that spam ads for their site, but even they moved too.
Holy fuck I forgot how easily heated people get on this game. Just had someone write a rage filled essay at me because I called some person's character a catgirl.

Was sitting in the town square of some town I forget the name of, but a Bard was blasting Song of Storms on their lute. Was fucking amazing.
This was my character back in the EU server.

...Although, a bit shorter than usual.
Oh, is there any way to disable NPC theme music? It's grayed out in my options menu.
In other news, I just double-chested.

[editline]13th December 2012[/editline]
Oh. I just figured out how to calculate when the chests disappear.
They run on a timer of 40 "in-game minutes".
So they disappear at 3:00, 3:40, 4:20, 5:00, etc.
The odd numbers (1,3,5,7) are always at o'clock, so it's easy to remember the pattern that way.
If the hour is an odd number, it will disappear at :00 and :40.
If the hour is an even number, it will disappear at :20.
It may or may not change when the server gets restarted, so i'll check when that happens next.

Ironically, the server just went down for maintenance.

First, some catgirl followed my around in the game, helping me with everything. After that, a knight dropped by to revive me when I got killed by coyotes then proceeded to help me with a dungeon, then this passing merchant cart guy I waved to gave me some gold. Now, some guy just gave me this wolf robe and some pet food in the starting town, then gave me along with another guy who was playing random awesome songs on his lute tips in swordfighting. Then some giants popped out of nowhere and sat in a circle around us. Everyone I met is awesome so far.

Yeah but you can sucker them out for free shit
If I don't feel like doing that I just tell them I have a dick

Just played the fighter quest where one of the girls tells you this depressing story about how her father died of an illness
I accidentally selected the option that basically said "don't care lol"
fuck

Mabi has one of the best MMO communities imo
I remember trying to play this game with my friend a while back, but every time we logged in all the NPCs were dead on the ground. It is a mystery.

Which server was that? EU i'm guessing?

Ha, that seems to have happened on every server on January 14th of this year and again on the 15th on Alexina and then finally on the 16th on Alexina and Mari.

I don't remember the exact server, but it was North America. This happened many months ago.
I just started playing on Alexina and I don't know what to do anymore. I got windmill to rank B and combat mastery to E I think, and got enough money to buy myself two gladius. I can kill most of the shit I've run into so far pretty easily, but there is absolutely zero margin for error; I went to that other dungeon in Tir, it's called Ciar I think, and the very first room was filled with goblins and I killed one in two hits, and then an archer shot me for half my health while another one finished me off while I was stunned with melee in one hit. I don't have a bow or magic or anything so whenever I come across anything that doesn't run up to me trying to smack my shit, I'm fucked.
But the main thing I'm asking in a weird, rambley sort of way is what I need to do to level up; I did a good number of quests in Tir, the Alby dungeons I have access to are too easy, and Ciar is quite hard for me right now. I'm sort of following a level path, so I'm only raising windmill and critical hit right now.
Also are there any other decent ways for a fresh character to make money outside of holy water?

Go to a place called Tailteann and spam Shadow Missions, preferably "Defeat Craig Cow" on Beginner. Intermediate is for total level 100's and up.
The enemies will hardly hurt you if they get to hurting you before you can defeat them. The only problem maker is the Craig Cow itself, but there's only one, and without anything else to aggro you at that time he's pretty easy if you focus on the whole attack, counter, defense, attack and repeat loop.
[editline]13th December 2012[/editline]
Tara, Tailteann, and the places between them are actually the only places in the Uladh continent you can actually fly. So if you still have the newbie eagle, use the fuck out of it!

Oh jeez man, you should've tried to kill it. Those things are kinda rare, and have chances for rare drops ranging around 100k if you sell to players.

Scoot that's terrible advice. Level 100s get slain in the beginner missions. The level recommendations are for people that are specialized in their craft. Pure Warrior, Pure Mage, Pure Alchemist, etc.

Waut?
That's bullshit if I've ever heard it. Both my elves and my giant which are WELL below level 100 can solo that mission easier then pie.
If you have problems just pick one off one at a time and defeat it while nothing else is aggro'ing you.
Even if you're not a magic user, learning a magic skill is still useful just for that reason.
If you get slain, you fucking suck.

Your elf and giant are mostly pure in their skills. Read more carefully next time.
Not to mention you're also a very experienced player.
So I'm guessing if I delete my character, I won't be able to go on Alexina? Because it stated something about stupid player cards when I tried deleting it.

Better off starting a new account unless you've already linked your account to Steam.
Wow. Giant Fighters are OP.
Using the default beginner knuckles, rank F smash, with rank F critical, and being lvl 4, I can hit for 170 damage if I get a critical hit. That 1-hits a lot of enemies easily.

No they're not actually.
Giant is somewhere between knight and warrior.
Female elf is somewhere between ranged and mage.
Male elf is mostly archer, but his skills are scarily low ranked for archer'ing.
Also I am by far not a skilled player. You see me fail at the whole attack, counter, defend, attack loop all the time.

I'm aware that ancients have better drops, but as a lvl 13 merchant with the basic newbie sword and all my skills at F rank still, I highly doubt I could do anything meaningful to it.
I see them all the time anyways, so it's not like it matters.

Kinda funny, considering if I try to do beginner on my mage she dies.
