I think you've missed the point of this game...
It's not the bad controls that makes it fun, it's the akwardness of it.

If the game did have good controls then it wouldn't be very fun. The amusing thing I find about this game is how hard it is to do even very simple things such as washing dishes, racing, playing soccer, etc.
That might be the start of a wonderful indie company.
Just a little heads up, the Kickstarter campaign has finished and they've re-released Octodad 1 with two extra levels.
