So is there anyway I could get rid of stuttering?
What happens when you put in the -noprefetch?
Wait so in TFW you have to give ammo to your squad mates? No more unlimited ammo like previous versions?
Yup.
You also have to give them vodka, they don't use anti-rad.
I want to get the first STALKER but I have a couple questions.
How is it in terms of customization both in the in-game sense and the modding sense? Is there an RPG perk type system or is it just mainly an FPS? And can I mod it if I buy it via steam?
Second, can I even run it with

CPU is an AMD Athlon II at a miserable 2.1 GHz.
You should actually be able to run it, but on low settings. I would suggest static lighting at a resolution lower than the one your monitor normally runs on, and putting it in windowed mode, that'll give you a good boost in frames per second. Also, two gigs of RAM should be fine, you just might see a little stuttering now and then. Your PC is actually a little better than mine and I can run it fine.
I would suggest upgrading if you plan on playing CoP and Clear Sky, since they're much harder on your PC.
In-game you can choose your weapons and supplies, and your suit. It's really more of an FPS with RPG features, but there is no leveling or perks. You can converse with many if not all NPCs, and there is trading and customizable weapons (just scopes, and grenade launchers and such in Shadow of Chernobyl, but CS and CoP allow you to customize them more). And lastly, there are plenty of overhaul mods available, but since all of them change so much about the game it's really recommended you play through without them first.

Wait, so NPCs actually take radiation damage in TFW? ?
Do they also take some in the Vanilla games?
That would...actually make sense because you oftentimes encounter NPCs curdled up on the floor, even in safe areas..
Yup.

No. They can die of cancer before I share my precious vodka.

Now, did you mean put that in the launch options like you would do with TF2?
Now, did you mean put that in the launch options like you would do with TF2?
Yeah.
It still stutters.
Pretty pissed off at AMK right now
It's doing the Doom 3 shit, spawning enemies behind me
I was on a rooftop at the Yantar factory and a snorsks spawned in front of me
Now that I'm inside X16 snorsks are spawning behind me
It still stutters.
You need a 16 core with a 10 meg pipe.
Hey Kingo, after you updated your shaders recently I think I have to give you the rank of honorary wizard
SoC has never ran this well, it's a constant 55-60FPS inside and outside, and when I quicksave it doesn't even do a small stutter which feels weird as fuck
[editline]14th July 2011[/editline]
Am I the only one who always forgets to turn off the fucking switches in the big brainroom in X16?
Also, lol throwing grenades there is hilarious
1 FPS, glass particle effects everywhere, and instant death

I love how the AtmosFear 3 blowout looks
[editline]durp[/editline]
The Complete HUD looks like ass, though. Just downloaded Ceano's pretty neat minimal HUD.
Prefetching is a process that is a part of the X-Ray engine. It preloads all the game models before the level does, making it so that the game doesn't have to process everything when it's near the player. However, it eats up RAM like a bitch and increases the load times, making the game a little less enjoyable. To turn it off you can type in -noprefetch in the game shortcut's target bar. However you might still get stuttering since the game is loading models as you're going around the map.
I was wondering how you do this with the Steam version, because the shortcut doesn't have a target bar.

Right click on SHoC, CS, or COP, click properties, click Set Launch Options, and type in -noprefetch.

Ah there we go, thank you!
But that still didn't fix the problem, at least for me it didn't.

Reminds me how a few chat friends of mine were with me in a group chat and one of them (who was new to STALKER) said that he is using complete on first playthrough.
Then one of the friends changed his profile pic to a mercenary while I was shouting "DROP THAT RETARD" over the mic.
Then he got kicked out of the chat. Reason: "using complete" :v:

In the distance, a faint pop reverberated the through the air.Rocks danced upon the ground and the swamp water rippled. “Mikhail! See those caves? Dodge the anomalies and get in, it’s an emission!” Mikhail stumbled over shifted stones and lost balance as the earth started to shake violently. He barely made it in as lighting erupted across the sky. Dmitrii got caught in the heat of the storm and suffered severe radiation burns as Mikhail settled in the back of the cave. The sky turned blood-red, irradiated clouds began to blot out the sun and new light shone in from the enormous explosions emitting from the north. “Dmitrii! Are you alright?” The skin that was exposed boiled in the heat of the light and skin that was lightly covered singed. “Give me your anti-rads, the burns will heal. It’s the radiation that will kill me.”

I cleaned up the ending of that paragraph a bit, it sounds more intense
Emphasizes the pain Dmitrii must be in

Just minding my own business when the sky starts to shit radiation in Atmosfear 3, I have no anti-rad on me, I take a look around and the only shelter near is one of the snork caves...Beats dieing (to radiation.)

I'm just starting my first playthrough in Shadow of Chernobyl, since people told me to play that first.
So far I like it, and I have gathered that I should play vanilla the first time? I haven't installed any mods, and aren't planning to either, as I really like it. I've gotten to a car park where I helped some stalkers kill some bandits.
I have a question though, I went to a farm, and there was an anomaly, the one that sends those air/shockwaves around it, but there was an artifact in the middle of it. It were in a tiny, smashed building with a big pipe next to it. I don't know how to get the artifact, I die when I'm near it for too long.
Is there any way to disable an anomaly?

Is it the one next to the railway guarded by soldiers?
If so, go inside the building, crouch to where the broken wall is. You should just be able to reach the artifact.

I always do this.
Hell, I did it during a stream

The only ones consuming any real RAM or CPU power are Firefox, Steam, and ShoC. Also, in ShoC, where can I dump my shit where it won't go away or get stolen?
turn off firefox

close firefox, why do you have that open while playing
also, put stuff in stashes.
Well I do turn of Firefox, the only reason it's open is so I could get help on this.

Use steam's browser.
Started playing SoC seriously for the first time, got radiation sickness like 20 minutes in, didn't have enough vodka, I died :(
