S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread - Taste vanilla before you add sprinkles~

Did some modding of my own lately. I dug around the game files and found the artifacts; so I monkeyed around for a bit and made all the positives and negatives of all the artifacts doubled in ratio. I felt that artifacts were useful but only in a marginal way, which felt weird when everybody and their grandmother would cut off a leg to get one. I'm trying to find a way to edit the artifact spawn rate so the spawns are decreased, otherwise the game would be broken. First time I went into the Burnt Farmstead, I found no less than 8 artifacts and that wouldn't fly with this new system I'm trying to do.
Also started trying to make upgrades more dynamic and powerful yet way more costly. STALKER is already ridiculously difficult, but I'm trying to make it so that sometimes that feeling of 'HEAVEN OR HELL, LET'S ROCK!' becomes more prevalent.
It's fun.
That sounds pretty good. Less, generally more powerful artifacts in both directions. You'd have to change its worth in ruble too though.
Of course, I'm trying to find that balance right now. With the upgrade system I'm trying to do, upgrades will cost a LOT of rubles, and I kind of want that feel of 'Shit, do I spring for that suit upgrade that would REALLY HELP with radiation protection, or do I buy medkits and bandages? Uhhhmmmmmm...', and with the mod I'm doing it for [IWA 1.1 [which for some reason tells me it's CFP v8 or something]], that never happens. Mostly because of the aforementioned 'I JUST FOUND EIGHT FIREBALLS BEARD TAKE THEM FROM ME SO I MAY MAKE MY COAT INTO AN APC AND LET ME BUY 10 MEDKITS BECAUSE OF IT YAY'
Also considering making blowouts more common, with shorter times to get into cover. I like the idea of a very 'volatile' zone.
Wizards of the zone never die young.
I'm playing AMK: Sid now, why does it feel easier than vanilla?
I set it to master difficulty, yet I did the bandit car park without dying once. Hell I didn't even get hit once.

Maybe you're just good?

Because you can kill them in one shot. If you don't get shot a lot, you're fine.
Yeah, in AMK: Sid I get shot and die in 1-2 bullets but everyone else but mutants also dies in 1-2 bullets.
Made it to the Bar in one life in AMK Sid. Hoping over DUTY barricade is fun, pissed one of the guys off for no reason.

I think LURK conditioned me.
Running around with lots of stamina and a 80kg weight limit and not needing to use a bandage every time I get shot feels weird man
Herp, nevermind, figured out why the sounds weren't working.
Sorry guys.
[release]He's a private FP release of my new SoC patched exe files, tell me if I have made them better, worse or the same.

And so another Stalker somehow returns from beyond the Scorcher, alive and well!
So I was testing out the shit I was talking about earlier and was doing a lot of the sidequests in CoP [my first playthrough I pretty much only did the story missions hurr] and I ended up doing the 'bloodsucker lair' and 'missing stalkers' quests. I did not expect the end of that quest, though I should have seen it coming now that I think about it. Holy shit...just thinking about it makes me feel pretty shitty. Where's the vodka when you need it...
Kingo, what did you see at the centre of the Zone during your absence?
I saw the other side.

Whats the best Stalker game in everyone's opinion?
SoC.
Best STALKER game, and my favorite game ever.
SoC for atmosphere/story.
CS for levels.
CoP for tech/missions.

The refugee camp?
It's funny to think that STALKER's effective 'precursor' was a deathmatch game that was really centered around multiplayer.
Also, the music in Firestarter was fucking AWESOME.
That looks really fun, reminds me of timesplitters for some reason.
What would be a good one to start with for a newcomer to the series?
Whats the best Stalker game in everyone's opinion?
Sock. So much to see, so much to do, and the A-Life is the most interesting, not confined to a single map or easily followable by just checking your PDA.
"Talk to the boss if you need something"
No. I want to talk to-
"The boss is over there, talk to him"

Feeling not so good after last night... I guess it's time to mod stalker and drink some more vodka with my fellow stalkers
How much RAM do you need to get max settings on CoP?
How much RAM do you need to get max settings on CoP?
Four.
Is CS or CoP more optimized than SoC? Or are they worse?
They may be more optimized, but if CS/CoP runs better than SoC you're doing something wrong.
Is CS or CoP more optimized than SoC? Or are they worse?
CS is the worst optimized of the bunch. But unless you plan on running them on a toaster I think you'll be fine.
Four.
Okay, Thanks!
I'm gonna buy alot of RAM and see if I can install the maximum amount on my computer! :v:.
