Speaking of uncle yar, I went in to say hello [I'm a dutybro but Yar is awesome] as I always do when I get back from hunting shit tonnes of artifacts, and there was like four freedom guys in there that had gotten stuck on his chair due to pathing issues. As I walked in, Uncle Yar looked up and smiled at me...his chair surrounded by stalkers who were staring at him.

Whats the best weapon for killing zombified stalkers?
Something that can accurately headshot from a long distance away, preferably being able to put multiple rounds in the head in one burst
AN-94
The AN-94 is sexy but useless in STALKER as the 2-round burst doesn't work like it does in real life
I'd recommend either the AN-94 or LR 300 with a scope.
The gun should preferably have ironsights too since you'll be occasionally dealing with snorks as well.

In SGM, are Alpha squad supposed to be using the new guns added in? Cause all i see them carrying are upgraded AN94s, AK74s, and LR 300s.

They get new weapons as you rank up. Protip : try to "farm" them for PKM ammo when they start wielding them since they'll be the only reliable source for it.
Oh yeah, they'll start wielding those Barrets, FALs and other fun weapons soon enough.
Could someone recommend me a mod to try out for any of the three games? I really need to get back into the zone.

Didn't notice the Semper Fi on this helmet? It's an US marine exosuit used in Afghanistan before it for some reason became another Zone.

MAIN FEATURES:

- complete revamp of all locations spawns both in therms of what is spawned, where and in what number
- complete revamp of npc and mutant simulation behaviours (what they do and where they go at which hours)
- proper and logical repopulation of all quest-related locations (ex. water treatment or workshop in Zaton)
- complete overhaul of Pripyat in above mentioned aspects
- introduction of number of custom proffesions for npcs (ex. hunter and scientific squads)
- overhaul of npc fighting skills: it is now rank and faction depended with master having much better accuracy and reflexes then noobs
- AI Tweaks: total overhaul of npc on-line behaviours: fighting & detecting enemies over long distances, pursuing escaping enemies, proper running for cover from blowouts, looting of all dead bodies
- AI Tweaks: introduction of facer NPC ability (they wdo meele attacks using their weapons)
- Ai Tweaks: introduction of npc running in combat: veterans and masters are now much more mobile and challenging
- introduction of proper (rank & faction based) AP and special ammo usage by npcs

Sorry, I completely forgot about those OTHER secret research laboratories the Soviets set up around the nuclear power plants they built in Afghanistan while they were invading, my bad.
Marines in the zone, makes me think of a possible faction, one that isn't a massive wank.
People know of the zone, they know how difficult it is to survive, special forces and other soldiers hear this and want to prove how manly they are. Various highly trained soldiers venture to the zone to hone their survival skills and because it beats working for a shitty PMC. They realise that there are a lot of them there with the same idea, they start a faction based around proving how awesome they are. Lots of competitiveness between different Stalkers and lots of varied backgrounds and ethnicities.
Similar to Mercs in many ways except taking on jobs same way stalkers do, for money and reputation rather than ideology, mostly neutral except for the obvious Monolith and Military hostiliies, interesting banter within the faction and likely to have some daring jobs if the player wants to gain their favour. Kind of like Loners on Steroids with all the roid rage that goes with it.

Yeah, kind of. With pot smoking Freedom, stick up their ass Duty and sooky baby loners, why not have some meatheads. Just stick up a leaderboard, give them a fancy spec-ops looking outfit and get some non-Russian/Ukrainian voice actors.

Does SGM add a fair bit of new weapons? I might copy my SoC install and run that and swap back and forth between an AMK install and an SGM install, but I love mods that add guns.
I played SGM for 10 minutes now and I haven't seen one new weapon :colbert:
