Oh god ember spirit is finally in dota 2, I'm now scared.
Ran a bot game with both Earth and Ember Spirit.
Earth is tricky to use effectively. Considering how new heroes are insta-locked in pubs a lot of the time just after release, Earth lockers will probably lead to a loss for now. Big tip to people who wanna play this guy, practice using your remnant. Positioning these things well can and will rip shit up. Easy combo to practice is place remnant behind hero -> E to you -> Q remnant to enemy -> place remnant between you and enemy (only if the opportunity exists) -> W to enemy. If you can get your positioning perfect as Earth Spirit, you're guaranteed to cause MAJOR damage. Incidentally, things like Force Staff can counter him so consider building one if you're up against him.
Ember Spirit on the other hand is more of a straight-up carry than Earth is with some seriously scary parts to boot. For instance, his E is effectively a Radiance, albeit with a smaller radius and slightly more AoE damage. And if you're wandering about and you run into Ember, I hope you brought your brown trousers. Even if you're running away, Remnant -> dash -> Q -> W -> E, you're dead. As for counters, I'm not entirely sure but I think Earthshakers might have a considerably easier time with this fellow.

with earthspirit's combo i think i'd say remnant, Q, E while it's going out, W. you can do that all with one rock and i'd say it's easier to aim the Q if you use it first
but if you can get multiple people with the E then by all means go for it
now what i want to see is how much damage his ult can do under the perfect conditions
Can't wait to see people using all three remnants in their team lineup now.

Both combos are viable but your combo requires some pretty nasty timing, it's not fit for many people.
As for his ult, remnants refresh the duration. 6 remnants means 6 x 6 = 36 seconds extra (assuming perfect timing) which takes the total to 42 seconds.
Lvl 1 = 42 x 50 = 2100
Lvl 2 = 42 x 75 = 3150
Lvl 3 = 42 x 100 = 4200
And that's not taking into account magic resistance and the Veil you'll probably have (since it's core on him).

I loved Storm's old model but I also love his new model. Still retains his cheerful/cocky attitude while looking wicked glowy.

Earth Spirit's ult applies a debuff to nearby enemy units. It deals damage per second, for 6 seconds. If there is rocks nearby the aflicted unit, the rocks explode, applying/refreshing the debuff to units near that rock. The rock dissapears after 5 seconds of exploding.
