I don't get the criticism. Aside from the shooting being mediocre, there's a lot of attention to detail.
The open approach to levels like in most of the classic shooters is what really kept me playing Duke 3D even though I didn't play it until a couple years ago so the fact that they made it completely linear is enough to heavily criticize it IMO

I find a lack of music in this game.
Gonna pick up my collectors edition Tuesday and just sell the code. I really only want it for the collectors items. I don't care much for the game itself. Going to try to get 40$ for the serial since it activates on Steam.
What a waste of money
I'm essentially paying 30$ for the collector's items themselves. They'll be a nice keepsake as gaming advances. I've played through the game already at a friend's house anyway.

You may consider it a waste but I'd actually like to have a little piece of gaming history and it does come with a lot of cool stuff. Better than most collector editions.

Whats the point of owning all this Duke stuff if you didn't play the game?
He says he did already.
I just got kicked from a server for saying Duke Nukem quotes down the mic. Fuck yeah.

Honestly, I'm not impressed with it at all. I do however have the fundings to afford the BOS edition and I want it purely for the collectors items. It comes with nice stuff compared to some CE's.
the flight of the Valkyries bit was just fun because of flight of the Valkyries, IMO
I hope Gearbox does actually release all of the previous builds of the game too. The 2001 was indeed awesome, but I'd also fucking love to play this one:

I feel for those who spent $50-$60 on this duct taped together disaster. On a $5 steam sale.. maybe but this game is just horrid. If it wasn't labled Duke Nukem, the actually game wouldn't receive more than 50/100 on Metacritic..
Lots of people in my friends list are saying this game is shit. They didn't even play it. :geno:

Hello Mr. Presi...oh god what

It's worth trying, not much in the way for replay-ability but at last you have a game where you can [sp]microwave rats[/sp]. After you're done with the game put on your nostalgia goggles and feel free to give the game a mighty boot or two into your recycle bin.

Why constantly change the game and slapping in new mechanics when what you had right at the moment would have gotten you GOTY/universal praise either way? Releasing either the 1997 or 2001 version would have still given you the same results.
I just noticed quite a few textures in the 2001 version are in the 2011 version, for example the keypad in the strip club has the exact same texture. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] This would have been great if released before 2007/2008, the 2001 build with better graphics would have been amazing.
I just played this with a friend yesterday and we both concluded that it feels nothing like Duke Nukem. Regenerating health, overly linear gameplay, no secrets to speak of and the weapons and killing enemies just feels unsatisfying. The game is just really, really boring. I really wanted this to be good, but to be honest, it just makes me want to reinstall Duke 3D. EDIT: Also, the game looks like shit. I mean, really. I know graphics don't make a game, but in DNF, everything just looks so bland and unappealing.

Any pictures of the multiplayer duke skins?

Btw, [sp]I saw one guy with a purple hardhat in Duke's Strippy City in Champagne Room.[/sp]
To everyone who dislikes the game and wants it to be more like D3D just wait for Duke Nukem 3D Reloaded to come out.
Can't wait for yahtzee to tear this game apart...
I honestly am still wondering how they got this awesome game a M rating! It has so many rating descriptions....I wonder if they will ever release an AO version down the line or something because they HAD to of cut things out. Now that I have enough cash saved up I think I will buy this. Hopefully I have enough for Mortal Kombat as well.
