I contacted Gearbox about the demo. I doubt I'll get a reply any time soon since the game is completely out now.

I think people who were nostalgic fans of the DN3D and just want more of Duke will enjoy that but someone who is just looking for good gameplay worth a full $50 and doesn't really care about the history will be disappointed.

I don't know if I'd say that either because the modern FPS/linear with cutscenes level design style is definitely there unlike DN3D so I don't think fans of DN3D's gameplay style will like it very much either.
But with Duke's personality and humor still there, I'd say it's a game for fans of the [b]character[/b] at best.

I wouldn't say that. I think this was supposed to bring Duke into everyones eyes. By now Dukes fanbase has dropped significantly. They can't expect a huge outburst of sales by those people alone. Especially with most of them hell bent on boycotting the game.
I think the game kicks ass honestly. I'm having loads of fun.
By the way has anyone found a way to turn off the DoF only from the post special effects option? The bloom, Ambient Occlusion, etc are nice but the DoF is fucking atrocious.
I could see the low points of the game but they didn't really phase me. I'm enjoying it so far. The only reason the game is getting so much flak is because people are over hyping it. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun and playable but you just can't expect much.

I don't get what everyone's on about... I'm having a great time with this game. I came in expecting a campy one-liner filled action game, and that's what I got. I'm really enjoying it so far.

I just got it and I'm enjoying it so far. About 3 hours in and having a lot of fun. Don't really see what the huge deal was.

When I first came into this thread, all I saw were people saying that this game was going to be shit and whatnot. I have come to the conclusion that those people have forgotten how to have fun. 3 and a half hours into this game and I've yet to regret a single dollar spent on it.
