I actually like the multiplayer, the "My Digs" feature is pretty cool.
It wasn't in development for a straight decade, it was scrapped several times, in fact since you finished the SP go to extras and watch the 2003 and 2006 gameplay videos. They are completely different then what we have now.
I know it switched engine multiple times along with various other idling periods, but you'd still expect more out of the record breaking waiting time.

No, you shouldnt.
I'm sorry but the conversation here about Duke's morals had me in stitches.
Seriously, when I read Sgt. Khorn's rebuttal saying "Dukelike emotional state?" I lost it. Seriously, spot on. I don't think in a game like this there's much to know. He's a macho male egotist. The world became a shrine to him after he saved it, over a period of 14 years. That's the world he lives in, deal with it bros.
I bet he annihilated disco.
Duke hates disco.

Like I said watch the videos that you unlocked, it did not only switch engines and be idle, tons of shit was actually scrapped (levels, enemies, environments, etc.....) also read the leaked script of the old build before this one, the story is way different then what we have now.
But from what it looks like form the leaked scripts, basically the 3rd DLC with 15 singleplayer maps, looks like Gearbox is trying to finish the old build and release it as DLC. So you can basically say we are getting another Duke game that continues the story.
I understand Duke's narcissism, he sees women as objects.
In Duke Nukem 1 and 2, there are no women at all. Duke's just a stereotypical action hero who kills aliens and beats the bad guys. In Duke 3D 99% of the women are either A) strippers or B) alien captives. His interactions with the former are, of course, objectifying (they are strippers, after all) and his interactions with the latter are either to ignore their pleas for death or, regretfully, kill them.
Additionally Duke's narcissism is only apparent in occasional one liners like "Damn, I'm good." and shit like that. My point is that none of the previous games established Duke as particularly narcissistic or objectifying. Both characteristics were exaggerated to an extreme degree in DNF - to the game's detriment, I think.
In summary, DNF turned Duke into a massive dick and now everyone hates him. Before DNF he was just a stereotype or even a satire of any macho man action hero.

They did foreshadow and implied that expansions are imminent, as long as they do continue the story either in forms of dlc/expansion packs, or a new episodic game, I'd be happy.
In Duke Nukem 1 and 2, there are no women at all.
Oprah is in both.

I wouldn't say he became a dick. He turned into an icon that was willing to do talk shows, sign autographs for kids and let some punk asshole sit in his throne for a quick photo graph.
I wouldn't say he was a dick. I mean, they even made him go silent when talking to the President and General. He became more of a pushover, if anything.
I won't compare DNF to any games or reviews. Gameplay and features bring some good memories. I won't take anything seriously, because I always take the point for fun. I hope some serious people play for entertainment than over expectation.
Oprah is in both.
So like he said, no women.

I have heard of it certainly. Way to rate me dumb. Should I have said that it's NOT a sidescrolling game?
It's a rating don't cry about it and you're saying because it's a sidescroller it's bad, yet that's how the game started off.

Uh, can you show me where I actually say it's bad?
Apologies, I thought your post was the one saying it was dissapointing, but still it's a rating don't cry about it.
Manhattan Project was fucking awesome

Yeah guys, he is completely right, there were no other past games with Duke acting like he does in DNF or there are games with barely any women at all like Duke 3D. Remember Land of the Babes, no women in that either, no sexual jokes, it was a empty land.
Manhattan Project was DNF as far as I'm concerned.
Wow, the multiplayer is very suprisingly awesome.
I really wasn't even looking forward to playing it. It just seemed really generic on paper.
I don't know why, but I love it. Played a solid 3 hours of it last night, didn't touch the SP.
God damn this first turret battle on Let's Rock difficulty is just impossible

Yeah, I played at least 8 hours of the MP before I touched the SP. Its pretty fun.
Doing a gold pistol run is really fun. The gold pistol looks great and is pretty fun to use, especially when you figure out how powerful headshots are with it.
Also, the game room in Titty City is strangely relaxing. I could play air hockey, pinball and pool in there all day.
Hey guys, I just thought i'd let you know something i figured out.
How to open the console:

Find your user.ini file, this will be located in your steam account folder or appdata ( it'd be great for someone to clear this up, as i'm relying on the demo )

Open it up in notepad and find the line of text saying B= or whatever key you wish to bind console to. to the right of the equals sign type in ShowLog
(example)
B=ShowLog
if you change your controls in game this will be cleared

Launch the game and once started press alt+enter to put the game in a window.

Load up any level (without changing controls in options) and press the B or whatever key you set to ShowLog. ( you must be out of the main menu )

A window will now popup, this is the log which doubles as a developer console
What can you do with the console? Heres one thing i've been playing with:
Type
editactor class=DukePlayer
this will bring up a editor window with all variables for the player, which you can change such as movement speed, god mode, and other various things.
Within the None tree on the window you'll see a variable called LookActor which will be set at whatever your looking at. So if you were looking at a enemy this field would be set to the enemies class followed by the level name . actor name You can then take that name like this:
class'stripper'level0.stripper___0
taking the name of the actor you can then go to console and type in
editactor name=stripper___0
its important to note if you leave any of these windows except for the log when the level switches the game will crash
of course this only works on PC, but i'm interested to hear if anyone finds anything. Its kind of upsetting the took out the cheats so maybe this will make up for it.
Theres more commands here: http://unreal.epicgames.com/UTConsole.htm but not all of them work, you can see more on the editactor command though
For most unreal engine games if you launch them with -showlog the log will show with the launch of the game, and this works for the demo but i heard it doesnt on the final game.
[editline]27th June 2011[/editline]
Also i should mention that changing some of the variables will cause a crash too (immediately, or not ) so don't be surprised if/when this happens.
Also instead of setting the key it looks like maybe you can launch the game with -log argument. I'll test it later

Actually, a cool guy over at Duke4.net (Mr.Deviance) already found this out ages ago and he also found how to open the "sos console" inside the game itself.
Go check it out here http://forums.duke4.net/topic/4326-mrdeviance-strikes-again-ive-found-a-very-easy-and-native-way-to-enable-a-simplified-console-in-the-full-game-d/
The air hockey is so realistic.
Fuck shooting aliens.
Air Hockey Simulator 2011. :c00l:
Air Hockey was fine, but oh god that pool table...
That FUCKING POOL TABLE
FUCK WHO PROGRAMMED THIS SHIT
THESE PHYSICS AREN'T EVEN CLOSE TO REALISTIC
