i like how this is getting bad reviews because people are taking it too seriously and don't relise the whole game is a piss take, highlighting the rediculousness of other games
It seems to be getting bad reviews because it's bad.
Xana it's getting bad reviews because of it's awful graphics,
Stop playing on 360.
terrible plot it forces down your neck,
At least 3D Realms attempted to make a plot. Duke Nukem didn't have a plot really, it was just, "Duke in bad mood, me kill all."
boring boss fights,
FPS boss fights are never any fun...
dumb un-duke like humor and hundreds of gimmicks per level early on.
That's not Duke humor?
And what gimmicks?
I'm stuck on the part where you have to go underwater and turn that valve to open the door to the room with the giant turbine or whatever in the middle.
Nevermind, found a way.
It's not Duke from Duke 3D, THAT is why people don't like it, he's just some asshole in a long series of nothing but scripted events. People wanted a fast paced not-cover based shooter, instead we get stopped every 5-10 minutes to watch some heavily scripted event. That's honestly my biggest problem, they never tone down the scripting
Every single level had to have 2-3 events happen and couldn't just be a fun level, and those without heavy scripting were stupid gimmick levels like the inside of the machine suddenly being a super clunky platformer and the entire under water section.
Xana it's getting bad reviews because of it's awful graphics, terrible plot it forces down your neck, boring boss fights, dumb un-duke like humor and hundreds of gimmicks per level early on.
Also, off that topic, just saw Hollywood Holocaust was turned into a paintball course? What?
Jesus fuck there's a difference between being Cover Based (Where you have the ability to actually move into cover ala Gears of War, GTA4, RDR, ect.) and having the ability to use cover. Stop. Confusing. Them.

Sorry couldn't hear you to busy hiding behind a rock waiting for my health to recharge.
Also, define Duke Humor then, and what Gimmicks? Interactivity? Yeah, not like 3D did the same exact thing or anything, just not as interactive.

Hate going back to it but I had alot of fun with bulletstorms bosses.
Gimmicks: The Hive. Shrunken Machine. Driving Levels. Fetch Quests. Underwater level (gotta find those air bubbles!) etc.

If I recall correctly, Duke couldn't just run into the middle of a firefight and win. Mind you I played this when I was 6, so I may have forgotten.

And I often on normal run in both legs swinging wildly bashing a group of pigcops in the face when I'm bored so :v: shrug

2 the level of difficulty are there because some people want a different level of challenge?
Okay so am I the only one who actually enjoyed this game? I don't care if it's linear, it's pretty fun to play with all the duke jokes and etc.
Also, here is a useful list of all the easter eggs and etc I found in the game so far. Please feel free to argue, ask to remove or add any more easter eggs.
[sp]
Half-Life 'Crowbar' Easter Egg
Half-Life 2 'Jeep Tunnel Loading (when in the middle of the tunnel and the end - white colors at the end of it)
Half-Life 2 Citadel Portal (don't know if true or not as an easter egg)
Isaac Clarke Easter Egg (THAT'S ONE DEAD SPACE MARINE!)
Get off my lawn (get off my dam) Easter egg (forgot name of the movie)
Master Chief Easter Egg
Gears of War rant (might not be true)
Borderlands Decapitated Face of someone
Companion (Barrel?) Cube Reference
I hate Valve Puzzles (probably because Valve made Portal, Portal 2 and all the half-life games have puzzles)
AMERICA FUCK YEAH song[/sp]

People are taking this shit way too seriously.
You expected a grade-A clone of Duke Nukem 3D after so many years, developers and engine switches? You're a damn idiot if you did.
And, my god, scripted cut-scenes? You know, those things that are in every-other-fucking-FPS on the market today? I seriously don't get people when they review this game. You don't play Duke Nukem for top-notch gunplay, even Duke 3D was shit at that unless you played on baby difficulty. You play Duke Nukem for the corny lines, one-liners and references. I've honestly watched reviews where people skipped half of the damn interactive rooms at the start, and who then get pissy while being blocked by cut-scenes, because all they wanted to do was shoot stuff.
That said, yeah. It's linear. Yeah, the combat is boring, but I don't get what all this cover-whining is about. I've only had to use cover during some of boss fights and for a few gunships. And yeah, it's full of gimmicks, silly interactivity and quests. And you know what? I find it fun. I find it way more fun than any of those gritty grim-dark 'realistic' FPSes. The game isn't afraid to take a shit on itself and any other loved franchise along the way.
If you liked Bulletstorm, because you were able to play a game without being serious and subjective every few seconds, then you'll like Duke Nukem Forever. If you expect a gaming legacy handed to you on a platinum-lined platter with every feature you ever dreamed off, then blow it out your ass.

Personally I love this game, and Sift is disliking it for all the wrong reasons.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
I really enjoyed every bit of the game (I'm replaying it now). I love the interactivity, hidden smooth jokes, the voice of Duke is a great pleasure of playing this game. I love the executions, shrinking and duke's shrunken voice, easter eggs, and this game is great for me.
What I did to make this game really what I wanted is I didn't rise my expectations. I didn't think it will be anything great so I just though it will be a mediocre/above average/good-ish FPS and it's exactly what I got.

That's the thing
I don't have god type standards, me disagreeing with post doesn't mean IT IS ENTIRELY GARBAGE GET RID OF IT BURN IT BURN IT BURN IT.
It means I want to discuss it and talk about it. Honestly, 360 or not I'm not sure how making a point that
A: It's all dark colorless corridor shooter the entire last bit of the game
B: Graphical pop in is atrociously bad, and quite blurry.
C: The severe lack of music outside of a few places (Metal RotV was amusing)
D: The Driving sections felt loose and bad to control.
E: Far far far to many scripted events shoving a plot down your throat most sane people don't give a shit about
F: Everyone but Duke has some parasite in them that makes them spout profanity like it's the funniest thing in the world. See gears of war guy for a example.
G: The underwater level.
Is a awful unfair thing as it's almost all completely true and not based on opinion at all.
And a few other things I don't care to list aren't considered valid. If I see someone argue against them then cool hey discussion. Instead of folding your arms going "NO YOU ARE WHINING THE GAME IS PERFECT", that's when I reply saying no, you're wrong because it's not perfect.

Anyone that can be so kind to send me a savegame for around the Alien Bitch part? Please!
Just beat it. I don't see why it's getting so much flak, I found it an enjoyable ride. There's also incentive to play multiplayer, with rewards for reaching levels being different babes and trophies for your penthouse.

This so fucken much, the interactivity which this game has way more shit in it than Duke 3D, the corny lines, one-liners and references are what makes Duke, Duke.
Gameplay, holding more guns, all that other shit is NOT what makes Duke, considering Wolfenstein 3D and Doom you basically had the same gameplay, and could hold all the guns you want. Dukes character is WHAT makes the Duke games special. If it didn't have any of that then Duke 3D would have been the generic shooter of it's time because it would have nothing new, do you guys honestly think people played Duke 3D because of game play and because they could hold as many guns as they want or remember it for those reasons? NOPE, they remembered DUke 3D because of Duke and those different features, not the other shit which was standard features in FPSs at the time.
