Notch stated that he won't add horses to the game. (at PAX)
Huh, why not?Seems like it'd fit into the game...what about riding velociraptors?:v:
Notch stated that he won't add horses to the game. (at PAX)
Ponies. Not horses
Ponies. Not horses
stardash will never get to meet minecraft </3</3
I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a mod that added ponies to Minecraft, because of the community being like that and all.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a mod that added ponies to Minecraft, because of the community being like that and all.
and then comes the horse dongs
and then comes the horse dongs
It'll be just like Second Life!
It'll be just like Second Life!
only pixels!
I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a mod that added ponies to Minecraft, because of the community being like that and all.
It will be rated one of the best mods It will be included in the yogbox If that happened, I would never touch a mod again for ANY game. I wish the community wasn't like that...
I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a mod that added ponies to Minecraft, because of the community being like that and all.
I'm pretty sure someone did that already, just go on the minecraft forums, should be somewhere among the top mods :v:

Where did some people get the idea that the terrain generation stuff is not finished? it looks ready
Because Notch said it wasn't. Like with circular rivers, strongholds not generating properly and something about hills but I wasn't really paying attention
Circular rivers are awesome though [editline]30th August 2011[/editline] I would build my house in the middle
As long as it is connected to a line-river, it is perfectly realistic. It is called a meander in my language, could be the same word in english. I do know that the leftovers of them are called oxbow lakes. They occur in rough areas, where the river has to bypass bumps, and later erode those bumps Bonus for the uneducated: (seriously who doesn't know about this shit why am i even explaining this)
Er, could be cool. Easy enough to make yourself if there is a big enough turn in the river.
When you step in the river, will you be able to move along with it?I mean if Notch is adding more realism into the game might as well add this feature.
When you step in the river, will you be able to move along with it?I mean if Notch is adding more realism into the game might as well add this feature.
How would one determine the direction of a randomly generated river?
When you step in the river, will you be able to move along with it?I mean if Notch is adding more realism into the game might as well add this feature.
No, it's not possible for the engine to tell where a river starts or ends because of the way worlds are generated.
How would one determine the direction of a randomly generated river?
it's kind of obvious, isn't it?
it's kind of obvious, isn't it?
Not really It's not like the path of the rivers are simulated Or simply said:
No, it's not possible for the engine to tell where a river starts or ends because of the way worlds are generated.
why not just pick a direction and stick with it?
It will be rated one of the best mods It will be included in the yogbox If that happened, I would never touch a mod again for ANY game. I wish the community wasn't like that...
There's already an epic horse modin the Yogbox(it's not just horses, though, there are bears, ogres, ghosts, tigers, lions, etc).
why not just pick a direction and stick with it?
Because, with random generation, you cannot determine if it'll reach an unrealistic direction or not. There are ravines for instance, it doesn't make sense for a river to flow the opposite direction of the ravine that's 1 meter away from it falling into.
You should be able to throw a stick into the river, and whichever way IT flows, should be the direction to the sea. The current wouldn't be strong enough to carry you though.
Notch explained in one of the PAX videos. It is all about the fact the world hasn't generated yet, it's not possible.
So he re-wrote the entire terrain generation code and says something like that is not possible because the code doesn't allow for it? Uhhh...
So he re-wrote the entire terrain generation code and says something like that is not possible because the code doesn't allow for it? Uhhh...
well, you try and program a 2D top-down 1-pixel = 1-block world generator with rivers using chunks and determine the direction of the rivers
How about: When the world initially generates, it generates a location for the sea, then every river generated from then on, HAS to flow towards there, or it doesn't generate at all?
Surely he can predict where the river will end based on the seed and determine the direction from that.
