No villages in old worlds? Aw FUCK. I was planning an expedition with an airship. I would either bombard them or befriend them.
I don't see the big deal with having the rivers how they are. Why can't people in the minecraft community just say, "Gee Notch, thanks for making rivers!" instead of "Oh cool, rivers! Wait, they don't flow? They don't go into oceans? WTF NOTCH, STOP TAKING VACTIONS AND WORK ON RIVERS."
But whatever, I guess I will be the one to say it.
Thanks for making rivers Notch.
Villages are empty in 1.8 anyway.

Open your world in MCEdit. Delete all of the unneeded chunks around your house, save.
There, you can have villages and new shit in old save.
Is it true that notch is "working on a secret project" or has been the past few day/days?
If so I can't believe him

He said on his twitter and that he was passing the work onto Jeb. For two weeks.
that's just incredible
I can't even be bothered to make fun of him that's just awful

Yes, curse the man for not spending all his development time to please you personally.

Curse the man for putting a 'secret project' over the update he will now have to delay for a second time. He is now apparently working on three games at the same time, with a staff under 10 people? This transcends just being silly and dangerously flirts with sheer lunacy.
I don't see how anyone, even people who've supported all of Notch's decisions, approve of, or even condone prioritising a "secret project", over a major update for his own game, that Jeb has reported still has coding to be done and is supposed to be released in three days, which is already four days later than their release date and will be lucky to succeed the extended date as well. I'm all for "secret projects", but not when you essentially have to "ship* a game*" (release, update respectively) in less than a week. Perhaps I'm wrong and Notch isn't just locking himself in a tower and pretending he's the Willy Wonka of video games, but the situation's disheartening, is all. I'm not trying to be combative, but dang.
It don't help that the adventure update was planned for 1.7, and pistons were planned for 1.6, and they hit the deadline before they could implement those things, so you would think that he'd at least try to pretend he's interested in proving he can keep a deadline.

Well, think of it this way: with Jeb doing all the work, there will be less bugs on initial release.
