I agree! The car list so far looks great, and I think the release is in May :D

This, along with the engine sounds -if they really are as good as in that video- might actually make me buy it. Haven't played any Nfs games since Underground (I liked 1 but hated 2) anyway.
I just wish if they ever have an NFS game with a day and night cycle, gameplay like Most Wanted, has all those magazine photoshoot and modification and accessories like Underground series and has plenty of cars and cockpit view like SHIFT 2. Best if they could have graphics like GT5. This is my opinion BTW.
I liked Shift for the cockpit and the feeling it gave me when racing. The gearbox noise was the best I've ever heard in a game. It felt like you actually were moving and gave me many adrenaline rushes. The physics made me rage though. A demo better come out, I want to see if the physics are as good as they say they are. Forza 1 on Xbox had real-time telemetry, it's no big feat for Shift 2 to have it so many years later.
I really enjoy this sort of GT racing and am looking forward to this.
I'm a little wary because Shift 1 wasn't anywhere near the level they hyped it up to be. And this one is a little ambitious, yet overlooks some of the simplest shit. Take pitting for example: they have the FIA GT1 and GT3 licenses, both of which are series that rely heavily on pit strategy, yet they don't include it in the game at all. What's up with that?
This will be amazing if the collisions don't suck, that's the number one thing that pisses me off in most racing games: the lack of realistic collisions.
I liked Shift. I thought the first person part was pretty cool.
I enjoyed shift a lot, they did the cockpit view really well.
Shift has the best cockpit view to date, that's a fact.
A little gameplay, by the way:
I thought the 3rd or whatever hot pursuit came out a few weeks ago...
I thought the 3rd or whatever hot pursuit came out a few weeks ago...
That came out last year (November?) and was developed by Criterion. This is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios.
Wish you could die a horrible bloody dramatic death if you crashed at 200 MPH [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] oh well, can't have everything
That came out last year (November?) and was developed by Criterion. This is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios.
Shift is pretty much its own series.
I'm really looking forward to Shift 2. Though I certainly hope it'll be available on Steam. [editline]5th March 2011[/editline] Actually I hope enough to want to play 10 EUR extra for the Steam version. EA Download Manager is the most horrendous software ever.
In Shift 1 sometimes the blur effect(after you hit a wall or other racer's hard) is a bit disorienting sometimes. Well, because you see, after the collision, everything's blurred out and you don't even know which direction your car is spinning(if happens or when other racer hits you) you will try to get back on track only to find yourself going into a wrong way, about to hit an oncoming car or worst still, hit another wall again to get EVEN blurred out and hit another wall again(chain reaction) and before you know it,you are LAST place and your car looks like it came out like a chicken in a blender. I turned off the motion blur at the settings but nothing changes at all.

Just hitting another racer at the back hard enough and his car just lift off and you actually exchange places with him. in worst cases, you can send him flying out of the track. More like spin out, dirty overtake and tap out combined.
Shift was awesome, and Need for Speed is awesome. The only game I didn't like in the series was Carbon, the rest were fucking awesome. It's truly EA's best series [editline]6th March 2011[/editline] Still need to try the new Hot Pursuit, though

If the reason the physics is the same in Shift 2 and the excuse is: "Due to limitations of the engine..." I will be horrified. If you are going for a sim and you cannot get realistic handling due to the engine, you are supposed to make a new engine, not go forward with a half-assed result. Still hoping that they overhauled the handling models and made cars handle like their real counterpart.

I jumped the gun on Shift 1 and fucking hated it. Bought it a few weeks ago for PC at $15 and it's still rolling around in my mind as a bad purchase, but there are mods that can make it better. Gonna hold off on Shift 2 until I can get my hands on it personally. Not making the same mistake as 1.
i just picked this little gem up after work and HOLY FUCKING SHIT IT IS SO GOOD i'm pumped. i know what i'm doing all night. this is like sex on wheels. [editline]29th March 2011[/editline] just the fact that you can see the edges of your helmet and how it bobs around on your head on top of the ballinstine cab view is just off-the-wall amazing

[editline]29th March 2011[/editline] oh and what about controller delay? i remember on the old one there was shitloads
Awesome sound effects!
I've played Carbon for 10 minutes and puked, never touched NFS games until Shift came out. I liked it, it was the best NFS since Porsche Unleashed for me in terms of driving. Cars didn't have any grip at all but I fixed it with a mod. So I have high expectations for Shift 2.
Duh, make HD remake of High Stakes already.
