No problem it seems, pretty high though considering recommended are pretty lax i think.
Sounds like he got RAM for a Mac at that pricing.
I don't think 2GB was ever that expensive?
Rams around 50 dollars for 1600 mhz ddr3 (2 gigs)
(2sticks)
25GB seems pretty likely, seeing they're taking full advantage of the Megatexture system and they're going all-out on texture variation. I hope you can sort of download the low-res version on steam and be able to play while the high-resolution textures are downloaded in the background though.

When? I see 1 stick of 2GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM for $18 free shipping, and some are even lower.
But that's today.
[editline]7th September 2011[/editline]
For the record 2GB 2 sticks is like $27, but I don't see why you would get that.

I went to Fry's and got it for that, was the cheapest there. It might have been less I dunno.

I don't see why anyone would pay $50 now-a-days for 2GB when you can get 4GB for that amount.
I also don't see why people get 32-bit OSes with 4GB of RAM, get 64-bit, 32-bit is for 3GB and less.
2 GBs for a couple hundred dollars?
Yeah I got DDR2 when it first came out (like 5 or 6 years ago), and it's 800MHz and the cooling system is nice as fuck. It was the top of line line RAM Patriot made for a while
Carmack is god so these requirements aren't surprising. Any hope for a 330M GT 256mb? Its like a toned down 8600 so I could probably get away with some stuttering on an i5 and 4GB DDR3. Hopefully a demo will be released or some benchmark program.
Key word being "Might release a high-res pack for a smaller area to test the waters".
Regardless, it's going to be ~awesome~
i hope this game is LONG as hell
What do you guys consider long? I don't count my hours of gameplay, you see.
What do you guys consider long? I don't count my hours of gameplay, you see.
200 hours.
I don't count my hours of gameplay either, but a 200 hour game is much more entertaining than an 8 hour one in most cases.
Especially with them being the same price, or even the 8 hour one costing more.
Holy cow it's 25GB.
Good thing I always buy physical copies.
I won't be able to max this, but very high? Should be possible.
I'm looking forward to this even more now.
What do you guys consider long? I don't count my hours of gameplay, you see.
12+ hours I consider to be long.
8-10 hours I consider to be normal/average.
<7 hours it's a short game.
I see. I think Tim Willits said that it would take an experienced player around 15 hours to finish the game, while new players could take an extra ten.
The requirements aren't too bad actually.
25.
Gigabytes.
25.
Gigabytes.
Do you have a PC from year 2000 or something? 25 gigabytes is no fucking problem at all.

No, my point is it's the biggest game I've ever seen (excluding games with fuckloads of expansions.

Age of Conan is 22.5GB with no expansions.
inb4 comparing a MMORPG to a FPS game.
But yeah, I agree, 25 is a lot. Still not a problem, though.
Oh, I wasn't saying it was bad, that's great. It's just I never saw something that big.

I know you weren't. I think I acted a bit like a dick, though. :smith:
Just FYI, space requirement usually means you need to have that amount of space, not how much the game will take. The game needs breathing room so to speak and also for temporary files/etc.
The requirements for these games always makes it look like I can run these games, but when I get them I can't even run them on the lowest settings.
No, my point is it's the biggest game I've ever seen (excluding games with fuckloads of expansions.
I remember when people were freaking out over Tomb Raider: Underworld requiring 10GB of HDD space.
Why do people act like they have to download 25 gb... All games/apps give exaggerated space requirements.
SO is it confirmed the 9800 GT is the recommended card they're talking about, and this isn't some mess up?
Fuck, I really need to get a new computer. I don't even want this game, but I don't even meet the minimum requirements.
apparently nearly 20gb of the install is textures, since that "megatexturing" thing they came up with.
You can get a top of the line card for $180, fair enough if you're skint but it's not huge money.
Are we defining top of the line as the fastest? because $180 does not buy you a top of the line card.
Do they realize how many educational film clips I could be using that 25gb for?
Do you realize how cheap harddrive space is?
crappy 4550 woo!
