Plus its not like we can't mess around on the pre-release.
Yeah, pre-release is fine. Not as bug-riddled as many claim it to be, and it's also going to be patched. What's not to like?
What's the point in patching a non official release?
What's the point in patching a non official release?
The people who can't wait for the official release get to have fun without being harassed by bugs, AND they test if everything's working fine.
Well... Back to the leaked version.
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
They are a company now and yet they fail to get shit done and got leaked. Minecraft, minecraft never changes.

Well well well, what a suprise.. But damn, i hope it would get released so i could play the shit out of it before RO2 got released.

It's unfair for them that they can't rely on a business to keep to its words, and it also shows how unprofessional the business is as well. I fail to see why it's a problem with Mojang when Valve has been doing it for much longer, and for pretty much every release.

Any developer who keeps on delaying games should be rightfully criticised.

I love it when game companies release game updates that are bugged to hell and are nothing more than an exercise in frustration! Seriously, that's just stupid. People bitch and whine when it's not released "on time" and they bitch and whine when it's released on time but it's full of glitches, bugs and memory leaks. I personally hope they make a habit of doing this. 2 weeks before a proposed (not promised, PROPOSED) release-date, they provide a Pre-Release version that people can try if they want. Then they'd have 2 weeks of people putzing around and finding bugs that they'd probably never find otherwise, people can try the newest edition ahead of time at the risk of it being buggy (but obviously you accept that risk by going through the trouble of installing it. Doy.), and the end result is an optimized official release. And the best part is, assuming the obfuscation stays the same, it'd be possible for everyone to update their mods to work with the next release so people don't have to wait a week or more for their mods/bukkit to update. But seriously if it bugs you so much that they haven't released it yet, just download the pre-release, play it, and be quiet.
Do you guys think twitter is a bad thing for mojang?

Well I was personally looking forward to playing 1.8 tonight, since tomorrow is my only day off for a couple weeks and I can stay up late. Seeing as how it has been pushed under the floorboards, I'm really tempted to just play the Pre-Release
;32255248']Secondly I think Jens should've stuck with his release date. Basically he just screwed a ton of people over.
life's a bitch
Mojang needs to stop with release dates, just say that "We are working on X update". Everytime they set a release date, they never finish it in time.
I don't get peoples' problem with playing 1.8. Notch gave it to us and aside from some bugs, there is nothing morally wrong with playing it. Geez.

They always were. Especially in the case of Mojang, where they have a limited amount of coders. Bugs are going to be popping up when you don't expect it, and they take time to fix. It's not a fact of them lieing and not keeping their words, as it is them running into bugs that need fixing. Don't bring the stupidity of the official Minecraft forums over to Facepunch, please. More and more I see the retards there spilling their shit over to here, and it can only end by this subforum getting shut down to stop the shit from spreading any further.

The only issue I have is that they never meet their deadlines so they really should just stop setting any or estimating. It'd feel better to just boot up MC and see that an update is available than feel disappointed when it doesn't come out on that day they tried to do it.
Some of the bugs and glitches people are talking about in the prerelease aren't even present in multiplayer. My family server is great and none of us are having any problems!
Do you guys think twitter is a bad thing for mojang?
Yes, because he doesn't want to answer my question. >:( (will Minecraft ever allow more than 1GB of RAM)
Some of the bugs and glitches people are talking about in the prerelease aren't even present in multiplayer. In fact, not only is it bug free(aside from the exp lag which will be fixed later today) it performs about 2 times greater than playing single player.
Does anyone know how it will work when the official update is released if you have the pre-release? Will it overwrite the exisiting files?
I never mentioned Valve in my post, but I agree that Valve also has problems for delaying games over time. Any developer who keeps on delaying games should be rightfully criticised.
That's funny because after seeing the final product, I wish Valve had delayed L4D2.
That's funny because after seeing the final product, I wish Valve had delayed L4D2.
I kind of agree, but considering they spent only about 1 year on it, releasing it literally a year after L4D was released, it was actually pretty good. But let's not de-rail the thread.
