Now that reflective water is possible (and works), we really need mirrors.
Holy shit I get intense lag when it rains

Problem is that apparently the player reflections only work if you're in third-person. But I figure there's probably workarounds for that.

That doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Yo dawg, I heard you like reflections...

I am glad to be mistaken then. :v:
Ice needs to reflect like this but without the ripples.
eh, game crashed after updating to the latest version.

Some dynamic shadows, a bit of anti aliasing, ambient occlusion, anisotropic filtering, bump mapping...
Eventually Minecraft will look like Crysis made with blocks
There has been an update for the patch so it now works for v4. It makes OptiFine and Water Shader work together. Save this reddit thread to your favourite or something so you can check back on it every so often!

It's funny because all of those effects are easily possible, notch is just a lazy fuck who would rather make his lighting shitty.
so i dropped in the class files and dropped in the shader folder and this is what i get

If you read the error, its because you probably didn't put the shaders folder where it needs to be. The actual folder doesn't go into the minecraft.jar but the /bin folder.
oh..ha wow i'm retarded
Reflective glass without any lines/borders would look so much better.

This still doesn't work for me.
Does this shader have Fresnel calculation? As in, does the transparency/reflectivity change with the viewing angle?

Look at the screenshots or just install it. And from the looks of it from the screens it does.

Install like this.
ModLoader, OptiFine, Water Shader, patch
Make sure if you're using the multi-threaded OptiFine you have the multi-threaded patch as well. Also make sure you have the update versions of all the mods.
I often feel any sort of graphics mods detracts from Minecraft's charm, but this just looks great.

No, because fresnel is shit for water. I mean really, Valve even removed it for Portal 2 and the water looks a ton better now.

I didn't have the newest version of OptiFine, my mistake. Thanks so much!
I love this mod. Makes everything seem so peaceful.

Ah. Well, rest assured, the sun is part of the Yogscraft pack, not my inflated sense of Britishness.
I swear that sun is the trippiest thing ever on my monitor for some reason, its like on of those images where if you focus just off the center of it then the image grows/shrinks.
