i hope heroes of the storm either dies or gains the worst parts of the gaming communitys it will have characters from
Volvo should stick to making cars :/
Considering how major the change to necro's voice is it really needs some kind of model update to go with it Make him more monster and less green man
Speaking of which, I don't want to play Axe until his hair is fixed or I buy this item.
I'll trade you proof of courage for smeevil candy
I will miss Necrolyte being an arousing deeply voiced unholy man.
Lets hope they don't have to change Ogre Magi. He is the closest Blizzard-looking hero with Viper and Axe
This. When I first started playing Dota 2 and I saw Ogre I was like holy shit he looks and behaves exactly like the two headed ogres from WoW. I'm surprised he's lasted this long, considering he's a 100% copy of http://www.wowwiki.com/Ogre_magi It's strange that they are so willing to bend a knee to Blizzard's legal team over shit like Doom and OD but something as blatant as Ogre goes unchecked.
dumb two headed ogre is a common thing. it's not like he has a particular character Windrunner is a proper name/character Ogre Mage is a general class/race combo, like generic dark elves
Ogre is probably something you could trace back through loads of fantasy things long before Warcraft. Windrunner is a specific name.
Yea, Ogre is common in every other fantasy setting but Ogre Magi is a direct copy of Blizz's take on the Ogre. I was just sayin, if they get so pissy over simple names, its just interesting that a huge carbon copy goes unnoticed.
Yeah, they can cause him stop being blue, for example. And of course, the name
Ogre Skillmancer. Copyright friendly and lovable by all.
I know this bandwagon is cool and Activision deserves some hate (remember, they own Blizzard basically), but are we sure all of the recent changes are due to copyright contract they have with Valve ? I know a lot of the name claims did directly suggest that it was due to copies from Warcraft lore, but recent model changes don't suggest that. Names, sure, Windrunner is going to be used again in Heroes of the Storm, Necrolyte might be unit there too so they want that, but models ?
They didn't change the pitch with the new update. God damn it. He sounds like a fucking fly.

For example, Dazzle with his hair/headpiece looked like a troll (because he is a troll in wc3's dota), Hellscream (who's model is used for Axe) has a ponytail, etc. They probably just want to avoid any chance of them getting what they want.

It's not like Tolkien's copyright holders are chasing after Keeper of the Light or any other "refference" stuff, unless that refference actually hurts them. Copyright law is very frisky, but rule of the thumb is that unless something is blatant copy for purpose of monetary gain, or something is made to confuse other people due to similarity, or something is made to ride off recognisability of something it's imitating, you can't really realiable sue unless you are willing to throw a lot of effort / money, which is sad you can even do that, but hey, money. Pudge has a lot of features that distinguish him from WC3's abominations, both visual and subtle. Gyrocopter could be passed of as tribute to Da'Vinci's machines. Luna rides a panther, throws glaives. You put Dota 2 and Warcraft III next to one another, they look ages apart. You put Dota 2 and Warcraft III next to one another, similarities are ranging from minimal to considerable at best. You put Dota 2 and upcoming Heroes of the Storm, you might find a lot more similarities, but then again that game is being developed after Dota 2, and since Valve owns Dota trademark legally, they have very real claims to protect integrity of their product. Activision is cool to rant at, but this seems more and more like some other reasons. PG rating ? Revisiting models as parth of overhaul ? Change of artistic direction (look at early alpha/beta models, stuff was eastern as it gets) ? It's their game, if they get enough weed-filled donuts in buffe' they can switch Puck and Pudge models around, but they have history of doing good by community, and those visual changes are shaking it up a bit.
no Techies. Only Goblin Bombermen
Keen Technologists
Keen Technologists
I dunno but given the opportunity to call them sappers would be pretty neat.
Smeevil Sappers, there. Where's my job, valve?
Michael Bay Minions
Smeevil Sappers, there. Where's my job, valve?
Brings a new meaning to ss.
Smeevil Sappers, there. Where's my job, valve?
I always thought they'd be keen, but them being smeevils is also a great idea. Will Arc Warden be a vhoul or something different??
i bet winter wyvern wont even be a wyvern
i bet winter wyvern wont even be a wyvern
Frosty Pterodactyl?
Frosty Pterodactyl?
Well, the valve lore for the game got some dragon types. I think they will change it somehow.
Snow bird "it comes from a mountain somewhere and it vomits snow on people and it keeps vomiting on lich I don't know I'm just the intern that writes the lore"
