MMO's should have 'one off heros' that are fucking difficult to kill, but then they go away for ever, drop some unique loot and the person who killed them gets forever immortalised in statue form and in books written about the world and stuff. But every time they defeat someone, they get stronger as well.
That's a fucking terrible idea because the only people who get to glimpse them will be those top no-life guilds.
I had so much damn fun roleplaying in wc3. I hosted DND and SOTDRP in wc3 a ton. Got pretty good at building. I might pop in the disc to reinstall sometime
You can nostalgia about anything no matter how old it is. Hell sometimes I'm nostalgic about a Garry's Mod server I used to go on a lot but now it no longer exists
It's abusal of the word nostalgia. Nostalgia is for really old shit. "I remmeber when" "I miss the days when" etc is much better. But this isn't the thread for this.
Eventually, the Lich King effortlessly killed all the adventurers with a single devastating attack.
Stop being jelly you're not a god.
This game is awesome, but it lost A LOT of players after Starcraft 2 came out. It's not even THAT good of a game, and it's editor is overly complicated. I mean Starcraft of course not Warcraft.
My favorite memory of my first online gameplay was playing this games battlenet. Does anyone remember the sheep tag game in multiplayer? We should host a facepunch server for it because no one really uses battlenet that much anymore, and definitely NO ONE hosts the best sheep tag servers. Also I played WoW from the beginning up to a little bit after cataclysms release, and as far as epic boss fights/deaths go, I thought the entire Fordring, Fordragon, King Menethil thing on Arthas was really cool. I guess a little more could have happened. My favorite raids are BWL, AQ40, ulduar, and then ICC. I do agree that an NPC should have at least completely finished off Arthas. They should have defined Tirion's character better and then it would have made more sense for him to get the final blow. Sometimes Tirion is really caring and tries to not kill people but change them (luke skywalker/harry potter) then sometimes he just kills whatever is "bad"
He's a hilarious hypocrite, he hosts the arena games, allows you to kill the opposite team (Horde or alliance.) Then yells "TODAY IS A GRAVE DAY! THE HORDE/ALLIANCE'S BEST MEN AND WOMEN HAVE BEEN STRUCK DOWN." holy fuck why host gladatorial games and watch us kill every single one of the enemy you hypocritical twat.
i played a 2v2 with a normal bot as my partner against 2 easy bots. i lost.
This game is genius. Haven't played it for a while though
We need to create a Facepunch Warcraft server!
I'm surprised no one has mentioned either Genesis of Empires or Heroes and Empires. I played the latter with a friend via LAN once...the match lasted 6 hours. It ended accidentally when my friend aggro'd Kalenden and ran into the tesla coils I'd placed in front of the fortress. They zapped that guy down pretty fast.
We need to create a Facepunch Warcraft server!
Every single game thread on Facepunch has someone say this, then nothing ever happens.

Because of that Starcraft 2 took WC3s audience, especially with clones like Elemental TD, DotA, etc. Honestly, SC2 hardly has any original maps and the ones that are, are often unknown because of the games list only showing the popular maps. WC3 basically committed suicide when Dota flooded the games list. So on one side, WC3 is nothing but dota. On the other SC2 is nothing but clones.

You all are exaggerating Starcraft 2's mod shortage. I admit, there aren't as many legendary things as Sheep Tag but it still has a lot of nice things to offer. What makes me sad though, is that we probably wont see a Warcraft 4 until after Diablo 3, and from the leaked Timescale, Diablo 3 comes out in 2015.
Just played a great game of WC3 risk. Man I love it.

Let's not let this die, okay?
