I'm never going to be able to get either connection out of my head now.
I remember back in the summer of '05 I beat MGS1 every single day of that summer. I fucking love it too much.
WHAT WAS THAT NOISE?
I actually tried to finish the whole Metal Gear Solid series. I got through 3 and 1.
Then I revisited this guy

I loved that part, didn't use 'nades, ever, except when required to do something to get forward.
Also obligatory

I remember seeing some rumors about an MGS "HD Collection" being released for PS3, similar to GoW and Slyfox.
If it's true, I'll take 10.

Am I the only one that even slightly liked raiden? :saddowns:
I finally completed it without it crashing on the VERY LAST CREDIT,
Stealth camo is overrated.

BEST RENDITION OF THE MGS THEME EVER
Fuck YEAAAAAAAH EIGHTIES STYLE SQUEALY GUITAR RIFFS. DEOOOOOOOOW!
MGS4: Smash the X button to survive!
Shame that some russian bastards claimed the theme. MGS4 wasn't the same without the iconic:
Dun dun da dun dun, du-duh da da DAH
Threads a coincidence considering I bought the game of PSN store last week and completed it on monday. So much nostalgia.
Still haven't beaten the torture segment.
I got the game July last year, and I haven't been able to play the rest of the series yet because I want to beat the games in order.
When you say in order, I hope you mean order of release. Chronologically, the games should be played 3,1,2,4 but playing them in the order they were released is so much more satisfying, purely because after hearing and learning so much about Big Boss and his past, MGS3 gives you a shit ton of those 'ohhhhhhh' moments when things become clear from the past games.
You can buy the first one (the only good one) off the PSN store.
Every Metal Gear was an outstanding game. I cant put any of them as my favourite:
MGS1 delivered a great game that was innovative and entertaining with a great story to boot (although a little cheesy by todays standards).
MGS2 brought new mechanics, next gen graphics, even better gameplay and a great story and musical score to boot.
MGS3, again improved the graphics (slightly, as it was still PS2 after all), brought LOTS of great new game mechanics, a great story and score once again. And most of all, one of the most amazing boss battles ive ever played, battling 'The End' in a sniper battle in a dense surrounding jungle. Or the fact if you wait a week he dies of old age, epic.
MGS4, I admit I never played it due to not owning a PS3 until recently so cant comment on gameplay, but before that I was so desperate to know how the story concluded, I downloaded 9GB worth of scenes to watch MGS4 as one giant movie (I personally love the games for the story, the actual gameplay is a bonus ) and the story was yet again great, with another good musical score not to mention providing conclusion to Snakes story (for now perhaps). Although, if I had to pick any of the four for the least entertaining story it would be MGS4, but dont look at that in a bad light, it was still brilliant, but not as brilliant as 1-3's story. I think the lack of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECjDfQd8QVc gave it less impact to me, call it petty but that theme is amazing and iconic, ESPECIALLY 2min 40sec in.
I got MGS 1, 2, and 3 in a pack at Wal-Mart for $20.
Played and beat MGS. I started playing MGS 2 and I don't think I'm far as I think I am. I'm also playing MGS 3 and I've just reached the top of the mountain to talk to EVA.
I'm probably going to beat MGS 3 first, then 2. Then all I need is a PS3 and MGS 4.
You should really play them in order of release first at least.

I liked him when he turned on badass mode in mgs4:P
Sometimes I think the addition of the tranquilizer made the games too easy.
I just put everyone to sleep and waltz right past them.

Not if you play on extreme. Tranq bullets were hard to find in MGS3.

Obligatory.
GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOUL IF YOU USE ANALOG DURING THAT PART.
the fumbling! The mindless fumblinggggg!

I didn't mind him in 2, but I adored him () in 4.
MGS1 is the only game that has made me cry like a bitch so far.
MGS 3 is best MGS.

Also, MGS4 is more like a movie.
I've yet to hear anyone bring up Peace Walker.
It concluded everything that had an open enterperatation in MGS3, almost felt like playing a portable version of it actually.
Having your own army (although battling alongside them wasn't an option) was amazing, especially when you go recruit higher ranked guys around wi-fi routers. I literally walked down a street once a day to grab the cream of the crop from everybody elses internet :v:
The A+ storyline was there, the intense boss fights against prototype Metal Gears was there (not to forget you could go at them again at harder and harder difficulties later on) and the gameplay was a great step up from Portable Ops.

I havent played it due to not having a PSP, although its ment to be coming the Playstation Store, once it does, Ill be snapping it up immediately and playing it on the big screen and a proper controller.

Nah I like Raiden too
I guess it's because people still didn't get over the fact that you play as him and not Snake, even a decade after MGS2's release.
mgs 3 is best mgs.

MGS1>MGS3>MGS4>MGS2
My opinion.
When they announced the title of it being "Peace Walker" me and my brother laughed at the name for a few minutes straight. It's such a silly name.
MGS3>MGS1>MGS:PW>MGS2>MGS4 in my opinion.
I've concluded after being a long time fan of Metal Gear Solid that Peace Walker was the best Metal Gear Solid EVER. It had stealth, action and you were motherfucking Big Boss with his own army. Even with your large army, you still had the stealth elements in the missions. I loved every second of Peace Walker. If only they ported it to the PS3 with MGS4 graphics, it would have been the perfect MGS.
So it goes for me: Peace Walker>MGS4>MGS3>MGS1>Portable Ops>MGS2
If MGS1 is not at the top of your MGS hierarchy you are wrong
