I played MGS when I was a wee lad on my PSX. Good times, one of the first games I ever beat. Before I got MGS4 I bought MGS on the playstation store and played through it again. When I got to the mission in 4 where you [sp]go back to shadow moses, at that first moment when the snow flurry clears, the original music kicks in and the heliport comes into view[/sp] i nostalgia'd so hard it hurt. One of the best moments in my gaming experience. That whole mission really made me realise how much we have come in the last decade.
I just bought 3 if that counts are the controls as infuriating in MGS1?
I just bought 3 if that counts are the controls as infuriating in MGS1?
If you got Substance, I think it has a third person mode which makes the game really more fluid. But sometimes I changed between the old top down view to the third person view since sometimes you see more in top down view. The controls are not so bad. First person shooting, in my opinion, is rather clunky though.
I now love Metal Gear Solid. I have the second one for PS2, but it's the normal edition. Should I pick up the Substance one if I haven't played the original?
Substance added aloooooot more to the game, and considering I got it for $5 years ago, it's a definite buy.
I just bought 3 if that counts are the controls as infuriating in MGS1?
MGS1's controls weren't infuriating so it's hard to answer your question.
MGS1's controls weren't infuriating so it's hard to answer your question.
If I was asked that, I would say MGS3 (2 did this too) made the control kind of infuriating a bit. Notably when you hold the fire button to aim your gun but you can't unaim without shooting it and it sucks if you have an unsilenced weapon.
MGS1's controls weren't infuriating so it's hard to answer your question.
I should've finished that off with "as they are in MGS3" maybe I'm just weird or not used to it, but I find myself getting really lost in the control scheme [editline]5th March 2011[/editline]
If you got Substance, I think it has a third person mode which makes the game really more fluid. Gradually let go of the button and you lower it without firing. [editline]6th March 2011[/editline]
Snake Eater
He meant Subsistence.

[editline]6th March 2011[/editline]
I really hate MGS2 European Extreme. It's extreme with no rations and incredibly hard. ALL bosses are one hit kills. even Olga.
I managed to get so far as the Harrier fight then I gave up. Too hard.
MGS1's controls weren't infuriating so it's hard to answer your question.
The Liquid fistfight was. seriously. It was just a FUMBLE MARATHON.

I have worse memories concerning Metal Gear or Hind fights than this one, although it wasn't that easy too.
-snipped double post- Damn you gateway 502!
He meant Subsistence.
I know, I was saying I have Snake Eater.
MGS3 is still best.

That is somehow cheated or modified. After punching liquid once, he flashes and gets invincibility for a few seconds.
That is somehow cheated or modified. That was on normal, maybe it's different on easy.
Spoilers for MGS2 for you sad souls that have yet to finish it. [editline]6th March 2011[/editline] I remember that creeping me out as well as making me confused as fuck.

Sheer awesome. I nearly cry every time i hear it.
OH MY GOD, I recently replayed this game and oh god I loved it so. Me and my dad played this when i was a kid, I always got farther than him, and It took weeks to get to the 2nd disk part because I was scared of getting caught by the guards, so for an hour I hid under the tanks in the bay. When I replayed it it took less than a day, Oh man oh man the memories.
Snipity snip.
Wish I could play MGS2 on an Emulator as flawlessly as mgs1, the game stutters every few seconds when I play it. Have to root around my attic for my PlayStation 2 now.
So if I were to play MSG1 on an emulator, how would the Mantis fight work?
So if I were to play MSG1 on an emulator, how would the Mantis fight work?
You'd have to scan your PC for a virus called mantis.exe and then terminate it before it deletes your system32 files.
So if I were to play MSG1 on an emulator, how would the Mantis fight work?
Keyboard. Too bad the PC port didn't have a way to play the Mantis fight the easy way.
