"Oh cool, Notch's personal blog, I think I will read this!" 10 minutes later "WHAT THE FUCK WHERE ALL THE MINECRAFT WHERE 1.8 I WANT VIDEOS WTF NO ONE CARE YOU HAVE A REAL LIFE, ARGHH THIS BLOG HAS STUFF ABOUT HIS LIFE I DONT WANNA READ" Oh you.
I think people get the mistaken idea that the word of notch blog is about minecraft because he has posted some minecraft content, rather than being a personal blog that just has some minecraft information because, well it's notch and his major accomplishment is minecraft, so people tend to think his life is minecraft.
Doesn't look promising at all. http://scrolls.com/
I can't help but think it sounds like Fire Emblem meets Card Games and AOE
Doesn't look promising at all. http://scrolls.com/
I've never found card mechanics to be good in any sort of way.
oh my god PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DYING and this is what you decide to post about?
We don't need 4,000 threads about Irene.
scrolls more like gay
Notch and his team are too busy working on Scrolls. Because you know how excited we all are for Scrolls. Can't wait for Scrolls. Minecraft pales in comparison. Finally someone has an original idea. I mean really, a Fantasy Card Game? Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?
I'm excited for scrolls. :(
Anyone else notice this? Constant "Hey the money you guys gave me just went into some $500 plane tickets, woohoo, I'm having fun here on this beach while you wait for updates" or "lol meeting with another game company to discuss how large my e-peen is." I'm not asking for him to devote his entire life to the game, but god damn, the game isn't done. Can we see weekly progress? Can you start doing major monthly patches? There's a full team of guys behind you and there appears to be less progress than a year ago when it was just Notch. It's just a little frustrating.
Seriously, what damn part of PERSONAL BLOG you simply don't get.
it'd be good if notch actually developed something for minecraft, have to agree with you there it's indie madness i say!
it'd be good if notch actually developed something for minecraft, have to agree with you there it's indie madness i say!
Because he's not, you know, putting out the 1.8 update soon or anything...
Because he's not, you know, putting out the 1.8 update soon or anything...
he releases too small of updates for how long they take
he releases too small of updates for how long they take
just go play the game instead of demanding Notch do something every five seconds. You must have a short attention span if you feel the need for content every week to capture your attention.
just go play the game instead of demanding Notch do something every five seconds. You must have a short attention span if you feel the need for content every week to capture your attention.
but i'm not demanding anything, im stating that he doesn't release big enough updates for how long they are spaced i'd understand his doing of this if he was on vacation or something but, shit, he's on vacation 24/7 it seems and i don't even need actual content to keep me happy, engine-fixes, finally moving out of java, new back-end stuff are all considered great to me as said, i don't need content, i need progress
it'd be good if notch actually developed something for minecraft, have to agree with you there it's indie madness i say!
It's not like Notch is at a convention right now telling and showing everyone the new features for Minecraft. So lets go rage about how Minecraft has a terrible creator.
The Shaft team seems to like scrolls, because whenever someone says it, they yell SCROLLS. Maybe they are why Notch wants to make it.
The Shaft is a bunch of old men talking about Minecraft. Of course they like the idea of a fantasy card game.
Because he's not, you know, putting out the 1.8 update soon or anything...
Bugfix needed? No problem, I'll just pool it into my massive update for Minecraft, clearly not causing any bugs and clearly not conflicting with the massive amount of new content added. For all we know, Notch might be doing the exact same amount of work as he did a year ago, but the way he updates his blog and treats his work nowadays is sickening. Sure, you made millions, but that doesn't give you a right to neglect what has made you a rich man to go on a vacation on your dog's birthday. I bought Minecraft about 13 months ago, and saw plenty of updates when I first started to play. Ever since the Nether update, I can't recall any MAJOR updates, despite all of his promises. In my opinion, it seems as though Notch is detached from the community and not working as hard because he knows we'll all ignore his lack of updates and get on our knees and beg once a treat is dangled above us, like a pack of dogs.
By the way, this is a good read
It's not like Notch is at a convention right now telling and showing everyone the new features for Minecraft. So lets go rage about how Minecraft has a terrible creator.
Why does he have to spend an insane amount of money to fly over to a convention to show off what he's adding to the game, instead of just posting media online? It's not like anyone attending PAX hasn't heard of Minecraft, so he won't gain a large amount of new customers. In fact, I doubt anyone here would have Minecraft if it wasn't for publicity on the internet, so by him posting about the update online, he'd save a lot of money and not have to sacrifice work time by taking vacation from his update to show it off in another country.
Have a cry, he'll do what he wants and whining about it to us won't change that.
I agree with the OP. The argument can be made that, of course, it's his personal blog. The issue is that it's one of the best ways to keep up with Minecraft development, along with his Twitter and Google+. And yes, Notch does flaunt his newfound wealth a lot. While I think it's a bit much, I can't really blame him, though I feel all these vacations will eventually ruin Mojang as a business. The slow updates will likely keep many people (such as myself) from buying their next game, Scrolls, and by the time it's full price it'll be too much for me to consider. The updates do take even longer now. It's a bit silly, the game should be done by now. He's got a team of people that are working on the next game instead of finishing the current one. He's worried about the money he WILL earn instead of the money he has already earned. It makes sense, but if he were to crunch on Minecraft for say, a week or two, he'd be done. No more. Instead, vacations and slacking galore. I would enjoy a development blog instead of having to read his personal one. Just because some weird hat-wearing Swedish guy made a fun game doesn't mean I care about how he's friends with a slightly popular music guy (Deadmau5) or what his grandmother is doing. While I'm posting, I feel Notch needs to be a bit more mature. Challenging Bethesda to Quake was clever, and would have made a great PR stunt, but instead of leaving it as is, he sits on Twitter all day and makes jokes about it like he sits at the cool kid table making fun of the kids playing Pokemon. He's far too unprofessional, to the point where it's embarrassing.
I wish someone would make an open source clone of minecraft, endless features would make it awesome. Don't believe me? http://www.openttd.org/en/ And that game is obscure as shit compared to mine-craft.
lol OP abandoned thread once he figured out he's bitching and sperging over nothing.
lol OP abandoned thread once he figured out he's bitching and sperging over nothing.
I abandoned the thread when I figured out fucks like you and the rest of the minecraft forum are autistic spergs that aren't worth my time.
I abandoned the thread when I figured out fucks like you and the rest of the minecraft forum are autistic spergs that aren't worth my time.
dont agree with me you're autistic
dont agree with me you're autistic
My interactions with anyone in this thread have nothing to do with my opinion on them being autistic.
grrrrrrrrr he made a game that means he cant have a blog and other social stuff!!!!! >:((((( Its his personal blog. Theres a lot of other website that bring minecraft news. Check them instead.
I personally would support a rule that automatically bans people who complain about Notch taking vacations. this pisses me off.
The Shaft team seems to like scrolls, because whenever someone says it, they yell SCROLLS. Maybe they are why Notch wants to make it.
They yell scrolls because they're joking about their April Fools podcast, about scrolls itself, and they had no content to talk about whatsoever.
I love how fucking greedy you all are, do you not remember the days where you bought a game and that was it? No updates, no information from the developers, nothing. Think about that the next time you moan about not having information in over a week or something ridiculous.
All of us? Also, remembering I've been agreeing the whole time but, back in 'those' days, those games weren't the same quality.
