The only thing i have to complain about this game was that one time where I pressed dash next to a stair case, I bounced off the sloped ceiling, and the momentum caused me to die from the velocity.
I'll put a video up sometime.
This happened to me several times.
I love this game, but the sword control options just doesn't work for me. Casual, Advanced and Basic all does the same thing, random cuts. And it really bothers me that I can't run up close enough to some enemies to actually cut them with the sword. As if there was a invisible barrier or something.
love this game so much
Okay, so I just beat the game. Spoilers follow: [sp]I appreciate the fact that it took itself seriously and didn't have a happy ending just for the sake of a happy ending, but it felt to me like the ending they went with (and arguably the whole last quarter or so of the story) would have been much more at home in any game that wasn't a retro shooter. The game was ridiculous and didn't try to be super-serious until that point and I'd have preferred if they had kept with that theme, plus Hoji really took a complete 180 there[/sp]. I loved it, and I legitimately think it had a better ending than a lot of other games I've played recently, but it definitely went against the tone they established for the whole game. I will say though, I'm relieved they didn't overuse Wang jokes.
I really liked how in the shipyard part [sp]you betrayed the twins instead of it being the other way around[/sp].
I really wasn't expecting that at all.

That definitely was refreshing, but I thought it was kind of weird how [sp]afterwards, you discover that they survived, and they say they're going to kill you and/or warn Zilla. Then they don't warn Zilla and they're never brought up again. They really might as well have died. There was no point in establishing that they survived.[/sp]
The voice acting for the twins was pretty terrible at points. Also some of the scripted sequences really suck like a certain scaffolding crumble in the dock levels and [sp]when you blow up the ship while the twins are onboard.[/sp] Compared to some better sequences in the game those are glitchy and look downright bad.
Man, I just love the crossbow. Not only can it pin enemies to terrain, but with a head shot, it can gib almost anything. Especially lesser demons. At one point, I gibbed so many of the little runts, that my frame rate just started to take a dive from all the limbs scattered about.
I pretty much use nothing else, as it seems to be the only weapon I can use entirely to get a 4-5 shuriken rating on each major battle. The only irritating enemy I've encountered are those necromancer guys that summon skeletal minions, and sometimes living ones. I can't seem to find the most time-efficient manner of killing them.

Well there was the tension that [sp]they might be coming after you and be a boss fight[/sp]. Alternately they're gonna be in either a DLC or a sequel/prequel.

I have a feeling they are setting up for a sequel that might be more like the original game, since [sp] Zilla survived, and he was also the antagonist of the original [/sp]
Overall, I'm actually impressed how much this game feels like it has high production values despite not being AAA. It has really smooth character animations, fluid gameplay, decent voice acting (for the most part), and pretty nice graphics.

My second playthrough was interesting because now I know [sp]Mizayaki and Hoji were trying to keep the sword from Enra, and Wang technically starts off as a villain because his boss is working with Enra to get the Nobitsura Kage[/sp]. Also, I have to say, they definitely made the Nobitsura Kage worth the hype. [sp]Dem Ki slashes[/sp].
My experience so far was I fought some guys with a sword and it was awesome. It lagged a lot, I lowered the settings, then I dashed down some stairs and died, only to re-awake in a cage and have to go through it again.
I actually like this game.
I was surprised at how much [sp] I ended up liking Hoji, I was kinda sad when he died [/sp]
Gonna buy this once it's discounted and play it once I got a better computer.
One thing that disappointed me about this game was that [sp]you never got to fight Zilla. It would have been great to have an actual human sized boss for once.[/sp]
Hopefully the sequel won't disappoint in that regard.
[sp]I was really hoping to have a cool duel with zilla too, since it would have been a nice change of pace from the typical Titan-sized boses [/sp]

I got the impression that [sp]even with his own demonic powers, Zilla would never have been any kind of match for Wang[/sp]. I'm guessing that'll be covered in the sequel, I have very little doubt they'll make another one.
After finishing this, it only reinforced my biological need for a Blood remake

i've been wishing for a blood remake forever. Blood on the scale of this would be absolutely amazing.
Caleb's one-liners to me are undoubtedly the best any character has ever had. Everybody always cheers on Duke Nukem's lines but apparently they've never seen army of darkness or else they would have known almost all of his lines are blatantly stolen from bruce campbell. not that blood is any better. but calem has far more character
his "I LIVE AGAIN" as soon as you start the game just seals the deal as soon as you start it
You may be in luck:

I don't think they've got what it takes to make a blood game worthy of the first one, but that's just my opinion.
Not from a gameplay perspective, but more from how stylish the game is.

Well, then [sp]they should have made it so that his abilities were on par with yours. Or at least that his powers were better than yours, but not his skill. That way he could have still been a decent boss. I don't like it when a developer just leaves plot threads open for a potential sequel that may or may not even come.[/sp]

That would have been really cool if [sp]Zilla had godlike powers but no fucking idea how to use them properly[/sp]. That's kinda how I felt fighting [sp]Gozu, Mezu, and Zin[/sp]; it felt like they were far more powerful than me but they didn't know how to fight me. To be honest I wouldn't mind [sp]Zilla[/sp] being left open so much if they had [sp]made Enra a proper final boss instead of a cutscene where he dies like a bitch[/sp].

It's probably because this game is a prequel reboot kind of game and [sp]Zilla is still alive in the original game. So killing him would kind of make the story in the original invalid.[/sp]
Just got an email back from the voice actor for Caleb, basically he said he would be more than willing to revive his role, but he cannot do it unless Monolith releases the IP to them (obviously)
How do you use the enemy heads as weapons? There's a skill that says it'll let me do that, but nothing anywhere says how to actually do it.

Pick up a head, select it with "9" and fire.

It only works on the big guys with the axes.
Anyone want the 10% off Coupon I have for this? It expires the 26th, I don't plan on buying it before then.
Oh, here! You still have that coupon? I'm hoping I can afford it come payday. #internsdoesntgetpaid
