Updated OP for version 2, now a mod. Tested in both singleplayer and multiplayer, works perfectly.
dosent seems to work here :( I cant find any stronghold near the locations
There seems to be a bug that I had fixed but is now back (deleting the Strongholds that don't exist from the debugging info), I'll look into it later.
Turns out there is no bug at all, the mod indicates the coordinates of the chunk where the Stronghold is, chunks are 16x128x16 areas, which means it could be 16 blocks off in both directions, it's always near those coordinates.
I also found a Stronghold right near the surface on my server, entered a cave and there it was :D
Is there any way to get rid of the lag meter? it just blocks the coords and i cant see anything. Dean please make a mod so you can get rid of the lag meter :(

get a screen that is bigger than a 1024x768 resolution? :v:
I can look into making the Stronghold Explorer info work with another hotkey. Meanwhile on my next mod:

Mob kingdoms?
Looks like it bugs out when I enter the nether. It won't reveal strongholds until I restart Minecraft after that, when I go back into the real world.

Well, it's basically a recreation of the Biome Mod that existed a while back, but with more features, you'll be able to configure a INI file and enable/disable biomes, set the number of strongholds, percentage of villages created, frequency of Mineshafts, etc, etc. I'm also bringing back the snow biome until 1.9.

Is it text-based, or does it have a UI?

The plan is to have the configuration be text based (change the INI file to your liking), the game will then get all the names of the files in a certain folder and list them under World Type when creating a new map.
So if you have something like Jungle.ini and IcePlanet.ini, they will appear as a World type that you can choose.

I followed one set of coords and all it took me to was a big cave with a dungeon inside of it. I dug all the way to bedrock and found nothing.

I'm pretty sure you can play it in windowed mode and just stretch the window to fill the whole screen, then adjust the vertical size of the window until the text changes to a smaller size.
YOU ARE TRULY THE CRUELEST TYRANT IN THE KINGDOM, YOUR LORDSHIP
This is going to be amazing.
