I think it mostly has to do with the fact that they buffed runner and child damage after the patch where infection only ticks on bites. I know children went from 5 to 8 per hit, and runners seem to do 30 per hit opposed to 20 (at least, turned players do for sure). This silent, yet obviously huge change to gameplay made things pretty hard for no reason other than to punish the fact that you won't die from terminal illness as much as more avoidable death. That and survival maps. So many people dying/turning because they think they can out-melee a zombie at the barricade boards. That's something that needs fixing for sure. They're hitting the boards, not me 1 foot from them. :\
I will say it again because you obviously didn't understand what I tried to say. Shoving away, pre-charging, slapping them with sausage in face or whatever you put into game is NOT an excuse for them having range of Mr. Elastic from Fantastic 4. Even less when your character faint after almost every slight move you do.
The shove has farther range than their attacks. Make sure you're ping is ok because you have to be in their face to get hit.
The only buff zombies needed in regards to making it easier to avoid infection would be to make grabbing zombies bite you a bit faster. The first bite comes out after a small pause from grabbing, and if you honestly get bitten again you've taken 5 seconds to shove the bugger off. Lower those pauses, and you're making zombies a very real threat, without buffing their insane ability to give you the old one-two and shave off 60 HP with little effort. [editline]14th November 2013[/editline] Damn my automerge.
I'd reduce Runner damage at least until their hitboxes are fixed. Currently they take anything from a charged wrench hit to 5 SG hits. That's a ridiculous buffer zone for something that's not meant to be a tanky enemy. It doesn't even make sense, this isn't L4D or HL where zombies mutated their fingers into claws, yet their slaps hurt more than being shot with a Hunting Rifle.
This isn't really related to anything, but I dreamed that there was a mod for this that added in one or two protagonists each from all of George Romero's 'of the Dead' movies to the game. That would be pretty cool.
I'm just going to rattle off things I didn't like in my first 2 hours of play. - Player movement looks awkward and silly. I know it's supposed to feel awkward in order to enhance player helplessness, but it just looks like my teammates are doing a shuffle instead of walking or sprinting. - Water infecting players is ridiculous, because the instant you touch water you take damage. It would be less ridiculous if I didn't take damage until standing in it for a few seconds, or until I had more than my boot in it. - I can't easily tell which ammo is for which gun, since quite a few of the ammo boxes are almost identical, and all of them are very small. Plus, there's always an abundance of ammo for guns that no one has or will ever find; I'll find a buttload of rifle and .22 ammo when the only gun I have found is a Glock. - Zombies have no weight or oomph to their attacks. It's just an instant, weak slap. It doesn't look or feel like I'm getting the shit bashed out of me, but that's what it does. The grab-and-bite attack is half and half. It looks and feels like I'm being grabbed, yet I'm not convinced that the zombie is trying to bite me. - I'd rather have a numerical value to show my health than just increasing the amount of grayscale. Other than that, I had a lot of fun.
fire axe + ruger mk. III + welder + flashlight + any meds = best loadout ever.

I played a lot in Flooded for example and I don't take damage.
Can you tell me what map it was that? I played a lot in Flooded for example and I don't take damage.
It is mapper specified pretty much. The sewers in Chinatown have infecting water for example.
Has anyone beat Favela? It's one of the last maps I need to beat and I'm not too sure how to handle it.
Has anyone beat Favela? It's one of the last maps I need to beat and I'm not too sure how to handle it.
I was trying for the longest time to beat it and nothing. Everytime when it looks like me and my comrades could survive for more than few rounds, the zombies always destroys those safe zones and we are fucked. Best round was when we failed at wave 9
Some more things: - When I'm holding a two-handed weapon and press F to pull out my flashlight, why do I have to manually turn it on? - Knockback is really inconsistent. Sometimes I'll charge whack a zombie with an axe and it won't flinch, and then I'll quick slash at a zombie with a knife and it will fall backwards. And they don't react at all to being shot. - Running zombies should make unique noises, or at least make any noise at all. - Shoving a zombie is almost pointless, since it only affects 1 zombie, they stumble back barely 2 feet, and they can attack/grab you immediately after.

With the limited supplies I can't even find an axe.
Have you found the flare gun yet? Supposedly you can signal more heli drops but I can never find one. With the limited supplies I can't even find an axe.
I manage to find flare gun like once per every 10 rounds somewhere in the map. Well, that implies that some of my stupid team mates doesn't take it and use it on zombies because, "Hurr durr, its achievement you fucking noob." (That's literaly what that guy said to me)
yeah they should've had an achievement for signaling 10 supply drops instead...
This fucking game... It keeps breaking in the most bizzare ways one could imagine. I just fucking raged quit because in 3 waves on Favela I was killed 3 times. Every single wave. By invisible zombie. I am not sure if I am gonna play this anymore because I am really on the edge of frustration right now.
nmo_toxteth kind of gives me the chills for some reason. I think it's because I live near it.
nmo_toxteth kind of gives me the chills for some reason. I think it's because I live near it.
What a shit hole. :v:
What a shit hole. :v:
Didn't say I live that close to it, but not too much of a shit hole, acceptable at the very least. Not sure why the houses have guns in them.
The final stage of infection is turning into a gun.
So I found out that you can throw weapons by holding g then releasing and I followed some tips on the steam community and found the hidden weapon room on toxeth. I'm pretty impressed with all the interactivity I'm finding on the maps.
What a shit hole. :v:
Only redeeming feature of Liverpool is that the Beatles came from there and the Cavern Club
This game is really heavy on my usage allowance. Like, an hour of play is around 150MB, while something like L4D is around 30MB. [editline]22nd November 2013[/editline] Well, that might not matter to anyone else, but I have a relatively small data cap.
I knew the mod wasn't as optimized for server performance wise, but I didn't expect it to be that bad for data sent and received
Might explain why the game lags so fucking badly even if my ping is 30
Cabin is pretty bad with that. Get 20 ping throughout the whole map 'til you have to find the battery and that area jacks it up to 150+ ping. [editline]22nd November 2013[/editline] Haven't had much trouble with any other maps though.
The problem that usually the game spawns all the zombies that it can (you can see it clearly on little survival maps like Favela), making the IN (Netgraph) of the players even reaching 2000. On the L4D games, they limited the number to 30 to keep the latency.
Loving this game so far. My only problems with it are the occasional lag and the insane difficulty. I'd love a single player mode with the gameplay though.
Anyone want to team-up to beat favela one of these nights? I play with 5-6 people on a Californian server.
Loving this game so far. My only problems with it are the occasional lag and the insane difficulty. I'd love a single player mode with the gameplay though.
You can do the objective maps solo. They're easy enough.
