Just a question, one of my mates tells me that this game has an atrocious grapical setting, meaning that they look really half arsed. Is this true or is my "mate" full of shit, cause I REALLY want to get this game, and i haven't been given a good reason why i shouldn't.

It looks fine, and even if you're expecting it to look like Crysis, then the gameplay makes up for it.

I don't really expect it to look like Crysis, but yeah from the screenies it does certainly look pretty.
I should also mention my "mate" criticized the gameplay for being just "run and gun", which is pretty much the whole style of the Serious Sam series. So yeah, he hasn't given me a good reason, i'm going to buy it as soon as i get my internet back.
Your friend is a fucking moron. Punch him in the kidneys.

He has never played the old Serious Sam games from what i've seen.

Then why are you listening to him? Guys that play games like ARMA consider SS series dumb and arcadey, but arcadeyness makes them great. And stuff like kickass weapons and millions of enemies that trully deserve to get their asses kicked by 16 people playing online are also a nice thing in the new game.
Still need to buy this FFFFF ;__;

People that play ARMA can have plenty of fun play SS. Just because you like realistic games doesn't mean that's the only kind of game you like.

YAY I LIKED THAT ONE MORE
I'm sorry if that's bad. They're both great and intense games though. That one is just the first one I played years ago, so nostalgia is better for that one.
SERIOUS SAM 2 HD?! Rip my foreskin off.

Fucking huge warning.
Them monitor borders. Making my gaming experience taste like piss.
They are barely noticeable once you get used to it.
I never played SE, I only got FE with my old 40gb HDD. Not sure if it was even new.
Playing right now. Add me on steam and join med plox
How much replay value does this game have if it's only about 5 hours long?
How much replay value does this game have if it's only about 5 hours long?
It has lots of fun playing with friends, upping the difficulty just to try and beat it. It's your typical (Although much better) arcade shooter, so if you don't play a game just for the challenge, it might become slightly dull.
Damn, I had forgotten how fun the Serious Sam series are.
Can't wait for Second Encounter HD to come out, I remember running through that game with 3 friends on a LAN some years back. Fun stuff.

[sp]Funniest area of Second encounter imo.[/sp]
Think a demo is coming out soon, next to my SS:HD, the demo is preloaded.
The fact that this game has a 69 on metacritic worries me. Apparently, it's really repetitive, buggy, and short. Is this true?
no also nice bump

No, it's fun as hell in multiplayer.
It's exactly like Serious Sam, but HD and more player support. There's not really a way to judge it. Just buy it.

It all depends on the difficulty. Serious Sam is a game where the experience differs wildly depending how hard you set it.
On the easier settings, you're an unstoppable killing machine that can wipe out armies single-handedly without breaking a sweat. You'll blast through the game in less than 4 hours on your first run, and yes, it will seem repetitive.
Turn up the difficulty though, and the game does a total 180. You're facing impossible odds, you'll always be wary of every corner and nook for any enemy, constantly craving the next health and armor pickups, never proceeding too quickly to limit how many enemies you face at any one time. Every arena becomes a set-piece and you'll have to come up with survival strategies to match the incoming waves. Now your first playthrough is likely to take you 6+ hours and a truckload of respawns.
Then co-op mixes all that up further. :v:
As for bugs, I had the game crash once after a co-op session (but not during, and that was pre-patch) and a large minority suffer some sound issues that should be fixed in a patch. (The last patch already improved this somewhat, and apparently, switching to 2 speaker fixes everything)
The game was clearly released before it was ready due to the publisher, but the advantage of the Steam distribution is that it's no hassle for Croteam to patch it up.
Also, dedicated servers very soon I hear! :)
